- Guthrie Govan (Aristocrats) using Ditto Looper and Flashback X4 from TC Electronic.
This video was shot right after handing the Ditto Looper to Guthrie.
That is how easy it is use!
Filmed at the Hilton Hotel during Namm show (Anaheim) 2013.
Ditto Looper: www.tcelectroni...
Flashback X4: www.tcelectroni...
what I admire about Govan is not only his ability to think fast on his feet while improvising but the fact that he can imagine whole musical concepts and landscapes in a matter of seconds.
the greatest guitarist around..no doubt about it
Puts me in a good mood. I Love my new TC effects! So well made.
I have the Spark, Hall of Fame, Corona. But this vid makes me want to add the looper for fun. Pretty cool!, I like the laughs at the end.
TC always comes up with real cool pedals. Will def try the ditto. Well Mr Govan you are one of the best in the world. Just love you playing!!!!
I would totally buy this song exactly this way.
That is so sperimental-awesome
yeeeeeaaaaaay, another Guthrie video
His microtonal bends and slides are so tastefully good they trip me out. He's the most exciting guitarist to listen to these days. And the cool thing about his solos is that you can listen to them without accompaniment and you can still hear the changes.
+Ryan Soliman The most complete guitar player nowadays. Rock, blues, country, bluegrass, jazz... Just name it, he plays it.
Ryan Soliman isn't it imposible to do a microtonal slide?
@@chomby3 He has fretless guitars for that
and still he is ..
I create all my loops on my channel with this pedal. I absolutely love it. It's so easy to decipher and will make you drift in your practice and creation for hours.
Larson Shook Sounds goddamn awesome. Ima have to get one one of these days. You talking about the ditto looper right?
The description refers to the handling of the pedal and how simple the controls are, not the guitarists playing ability.
Guthrie's beer next to him makes this video perfect!
really wonderful !...
Loved the ending young man! :)
wow, cool how you make some of your notes sound like their on sitar
roxas fredrichsen Yes it's a modal hybrid jazz fusion with Indian, Islamic influence. The guy is a genius. Thing is you can tune your guitar to DADGAD and have the same sort of sound. I personally have different guitars in different tunings.
very nice great
NICE!!!!!
this guy is REEDICULOUS and so is this pedal! Take Me To Your Leader!!!
its that famous phone ringtone that is based off of some old classical piece
are these guys frunk?! Boy this looks like hella funn
4:59 Best Part of the Video :D
4:41 the most interesting rendition of layla lol !
hahaha, the ending was so funny
Very Shawn Lane like
2:30 mágoa, porque toca no fondo do órgão do sentir
Creo que lo que más me sorprendió fué que estaba tomando cerveza Corona. haha
I know how to play like Guthrie now
it's the beer
*there was
it certainly is a loop, your not wrong. have a cookie.
Is he improvising or is this a real tune?
+djc741 Improvising, but it is indeed at that level that it could be a real tune.
Guthrie is like 90% improv. Basically everything that isn't the main melody of a song is improvised. :'D
"but it is indeed at that level that it could be a real tune."
A real tune *by someone else*.
This is good indeed, but if Guthrie actually writes stuff, it's mindblowing
Good way to get 5 hrs of missing time....No UFO needed.
YEAH... youBee write damnsit ... ITS UNCANNY!
this is amazing specially when you're high
If you don't like it.... Never listen to zappa ;)
How is Guthrie so good. He is easily the best Guthrie I've ever seen play guitar. How much do you reckon he charges for a lesson? 🤔
Noodle 84 ten Guthrie’s per hour
You can get his books for 20$
Hayden Stephens lmfao
hes just so likeable and down to earth personality :)fun!
4:40 "screw this, I'm going with Layla!"
I agree. He's studied many styles, feels, and isn't just based in rock ripping major and mior scales and arpeggios super fast
I like the video description; "This video was shot right after handing the Ditto Looper to Guthrie. -That is how easy it is use!" Assuming every one of us has a fraction of the incredible skill that Guthrie possesses.
Someone needs to install a constantly recording audio device into Guthrie's guitar, so when he plays everyone in the world can hear it. Everything this guy plays is so original.
he's having a fucking blast lol
How does he do that at 3:38 where he undoes all those layers except the beat?
From 2:05 it sounds like something Tosin Abasi would come up with... which again shows Guthrie's terrific versatility and genius.
The influence of Zappa is strong in this one.
And I can also hear some Sean Lane in his playing... especially the eastern runs.. and crazy speed.
true
From jazz to metal, you're the man sir govan!
When you think you've heard everything Guthrie can play he plays something you haven't heard before. Refreshing!
This cat is one of the most refreshing voices on electric guitar today! he can play just about anything and he has a huge dose of humor in his playing!
one of the best videos in the entire world with no doubt
Wow thanks!
Apparently having an opinion isn't allowed. Sorry I prefer guthries actual music over his pointless noodling here. Just jazz wanking, nothing special here.
All he is doing is layering the delay, if you think this is some special "guthrie magic" you are missing the point. If playing noises and simple arpeggiated phrases are whats required to become a guitar god nowadays, sign me up...
for those who want to catch a glimpse of what and listen to an improvisation from another planet, just listen to what it plays here.
I love it reminds me of Miles Davis, but just a little. Mostly just real unique, and very melodic. Sorry JgHaverty is tone deaf. I am sure his guitar playing pales in comparison to Guthrie this is very listenable to my ears
Sensless playing? Who let the dogs out? But first of all: who stole my beer? Does one of the guys here know what Jaco Pastorius usually did during Weather Report concerts looping bass phrases and improvising on it? Ooops! Just jazz wanking, sorry. Maybe, and I stress maybe, Govan is not the Pure Shredders' Defender White Knight but just a gifted 360 degrees musician with a tendency to enjoy shred playing. Maybe. Let's free our minds, let's free Arts from football-like cheer. Just enjoy it.
Why is he playing Charvel guitars now? Suhr made him anything & everything he ever wanted. Just wondering...can anyone shed some light? I mean I do understand this is Guthrie Govan and he could make a plastic toy guitar with two strings sound out of this world...
I can't believe how many people are commenting/complaining about what Guthrie played, instead of just realized that he's demonstrating a looper pedal. XD wow.
im surprised all this argumentation is even happening - this is easily my favorite video of guthrie's playing
he gets relaxed and its extremely beautiful
And before people get even more butthurt, I love guthrie, he's a world class guitar player. I just don't like this senseless playing done here.
Everyone who thinks this is just noise should get out more.. You know, in the musical sense, not actually get outside. Who'd want that if you can stay inside and listen to players like this.
hmm. maybe i should listen to the aristocrats. don't know if i like this vid so much because of his awesome guitar and us of it. or this amazing tc looper. i guess both. lol
The loop is a clever take on a D Major 7th chord. How is that noise? I don't blame you though, most people can't grasp minimalism.
He's a definitely not a shredder by trade, i don't know who the fuck would think that. Almost everything he plays is jazz/blues influenced. He does play fast at times, but is certainly not a mindless shredder.
That last riff is a part of the classical song "Grand Waltz". It is also the same thing you heard from cellphones a while back?
try learn it by ear. learning things by ear will help you insanely. but i rekon you will find it with a quick google search
I was considerng buying this unit... after this video I am considering selling all my gear and dedicate to something else.
TC do indeed make the best seats in the world!
Guthrie is like the sun. You practice hard and think you're getting closer, but all you're doing is getting burned....
That ending is particularly funny because the Nokia ring was written by a for guitar.
watch?v=zzIlGDbx3_I
Where is the video where someone asked you to "play noises and simple phrases" to demo a pedal?
That's how easy it is to use. Just be Guthrie Govan, and you're totally all set. Enjoy! :)
Guthrie said they was something that wasn't clicking anymore and he loves his new Charvel.
Gotta love Guthrie:
He's so good, he knows how to play at it's shittiest too! :D
else from being a guitar noob, there's really nothing to complain about with Guthrie.
Well done for working that out on your own. Next you can develop a sense of humour.
Guthrie takes the concept of "playing with yourself" to a whole new level.
ALL in the equipment. a LEMUR could this... wait Govan IS a lemur! ha ha
GREAT!
you think one of thee best best guitarist in the world would settle for shite?
Charvel rules! best guitar Ive ever owend,,Would eat a les paul for lunch..
When you're ad libbing a loop like this, it's really easy and tempting to use the first note you play as the tonal center. Hence, I really enjoyed the way Guthrie messes with the tonality here. And as always, I love his sense of humor. I think the most important lesson I've learned from Guthrie is to never take yourself too seriously.
Shades of U. Srinivas at :25. I wonder if Guthrie is a fan?
he has talked about taking influence from Indian musicians, he got the sliding on one string thing from him
perfect player with perfect guitar, never mind the effects which are perfectly deployed
that clean tone around 2:30 reminds of jason beckers off perspective :)
Looping does not equal minimalism. BTW, you are being condescending.
I remember i was Guthrie Govan once, then i woke up with a hangover.
Frisell is more jazzy than that, but you certainly have a point.
Anyone notice he hasn't been playing suhrs lately..#wonder why
I think it's more Bill Frisell than anything to be honest.
it's reverse, tosin is coming up with what guthrie brought
Frank Zappa of the present.. Well, in a way.. ha
very impressive!!!..fresh stuff for sure!
with a sharp 4 - why it may sound unusual to some
Holy sh_*. I'm surprised the ditto didn't explode
This man doesn't have time for things like sex.
Ok if this is boring for you why are you here?
We want a duet with Lari Basilio 💙
Can't tell if serious.. Nokia tune.. :P
Forget guitar playing ... One of the greatest artisans of all time.
haha who else thought he's gonna play metal?
this is great!!! jajajaj nokia theme
Go to his site and he explains ...
He's sick and tired of demoing shit lool
Lol wheres that famous riff from?at 4:59
that guy is so cool :) I love the way he played at the beginning, very jazzy, very smooth, light years away from many other players, awesome :)
Sad but true, he is one in a a billion
