I dig how your first demo has a 4/4, 3/4, 5/4 feel. Also, my Ditto 4x bricked up about a year after I bought it. I looked online and found similar problems, the solution being something to do with the internal memory card. I had no idea what I was doing, but I opened it to take out the card, which I couldn’t, because it was attached, but I jiggled it, gave up, and put it back together. And it worked. Has ever since ( knock on wood). I can’t imagine I actually did anything, but this DOES seem to be a common problem if anyone else encounters it.
One comment I would like to add is that if you are using the Stop button to stop on demand, you can queue it up early by pressing it once, and then just press it again at the right moment, so you don't have to do 2 quick taps. Sometimes that is hard to time perfectly. But otherwise, this is the best video I have seen on this pedal. Thank you so much !!!
Sorry for so many comments, but somehow I unwittingly recorded my FX settings, and the FX button was always blinking green, even after powering off and clearing with the stop button, so my looper was always playing back at half speed. I was about to return it. The way to clear this issue is to press and hold the FX button until it flashes, then it will clear the recorded settings, and stop blinking. After I did that, my pedal went back to normal operation. Just in case anyone else has this issue. :)
Merci beaucoup!
Hi Antonie, do you know if it is possible to start both playing and overdubbing on an already recorded loop (that is now on pause)? The Feedbackx4 delay and looper can do that and I find it very usefull. It is strage that a pedal aimed specifically at looping does not provide that option.
Thank you so much for making this video. The online manual for this pedal is terrible. I thought my new Ditto X4 was defective because it was playing back at half speed, until I realized that the settings are persistent. Once I cleared them out, it was fine.
THANK YOU. Perfect demo. I have the basic Ditto and have been annoyed about having to double tap and then tap and hold again to erase because it lets a couple seconds of ubwanted playback through, but from your explanation of this one I realized that I can just double tap and hold the second tap to erase so theres no unwanted playback. Super helpful and most clear demo Ive seen. Also seemingly little things like showing how you can tap the second loop in serial mode while the first is still playing and how it will not start until the first loop finishes are really super helpful and stuff I didnt find anyone else showing
What can I do when the loop function where you can have multiple tracks on one knot (for example 2 Tracks on Loop 1 on top of each other) is defect? I can only do 1 track on one knot. Do you know how to solve this problem?
I highly suggest the Boomerang Looper. I had two different Ditto x4 and both bricked. After looking it up it seems that the x4 specifically has an issue that TC is not addressing.
19:20, you're talking about overdub timing. The usage scenario here is for a phrase that would start before the end of a bar or set of bars. Think the "in your arms" line from Radiohead's "Give Up The Ghost". One would want to start that after the 4th measure, and then play it through over the bar line live. Then the loop will work out.
Excellent demo. I use it mostly in serial mode which works great. I seem to have get a bit of lag when I overdub on the same channel even if it's just a short loop.
Yes me too, is this just my particular copy of the ditto or are they all like this, I can never ever get my loops to be seamless like in this video, and mi timing is good (had no problem with my Boss RC20XL) but this is not good enough, and will probably sell it straight away, after just one days use, if its gonna be a problem)
have the Ditto x4 I am trying to sync it up to my Roland TR8, so it can get the clock from the TR8, anyone know how to do this? apparently the ditto x4 uses channel 4 to receive midi information whereas the Roland TR8 uses channel 10 by default to transmit midi, but reading up on the manuals of both TR8 & dittox4 I still don't know how to change this and as such, my loops are going out of time with my drum patterns, very frustrating....anyone know about this please?
Thanks! If you want to learn how to create this drone sound on guitar, you can check out my full lesson here: ruclips.net/video/9uQ3kCpbwGs/видео.htmlsi=qdEf0FSZBjZ2K50a
When you are recording a loop and when you finish you don't want it to play, pressing stop does it stop? or are two presses necessary? This in the ditto x2 is like this.
I am trying to record a drone note on the ditto x4 but I am getting a pop at the stop/start point. I have the drone going, start the loop and when I stop I roll the volume out. I am using a keyboard to do this. Any tips?
hello, i have a question - is it possible to use the pedal as a splitter? i mean it has two outputs (stereo), is it possible to use one instrument cable as a mono input and then have "loop 1" playing out the first output and "loop 2" playing out the second output, so you can feed two different cabs, each playing its own loop? im currently looking for some pedal that can do separated yet synchronized loops and also work as a mini mixer, so i will be able separate the loops into different cabs. anyway thanks for the guide
Seamless loops would that mean you do not have to be precise with the footswitch......it connects the loop automatically (the beginning and end as one loop)?
Thanks' for the Video, I wondered when you show loops can be stored, If I had 10 loops stored how do I retrieve loop 8 or any number or does this looper only store one? Thanks
Ok I did see someone mention the Wiretap Riff recorder which could record up to 8 hrs. 24 bit. Its cheep could be an option when I complete a song with the looper!
I'm an experienced "loopist" (just made this up). Got an X4 but am having a hard time syncing loop 1 with loop 2. I'm trying to do rhythm with the guitar in one channel and chords on another . It seems to sync easier if I'm only dealing with notes/melodies but not when a "rhythm" track is involved. Any tips on this anyone? Thanks in advance!
I think they use the same conventiom as in their mixers: they go by the humber of inidividual audio inputs. So for instance the Behringer (same company as tc electronic) 1202FX is a mixer with 4 mono inputs + 4 stereo inputs. 4 + 4 x 2 = 12.
I re-read the manual, and the only place where it mentions what you said, is for the reverse FX. Here's what they say: ''This can be done on a single loop, or both loops in Sync mode''. (None of the other 6 FX mention that.) From what I understand, it means that if you have recorded only one loop, you can reverse it. And if you have recorded 2 loops, you can reverse them both. If you had the option of choosing which one to reverse, or which one you want to apply the effect, it would definitely have been written in the manual. If there is a way to do that, they did not give any information about HOW to do it, which leads me to believe that it is not possible.
I've recently replaced the Ditto X4 with the Aeros Loop Station. It's much more up to date and takes guiter looping to a new level. The Ditto is great, but very much 'old tech' Perhaps you could consider a review
In all honesty, Singular Sound have contacted me to produce demos, and I'm very much interested in trying the Aeros. As I was having health issues when they contacted me, I told them I would reconsider their offer later. I'm planning on making demos of the Aeros early next year! For now, I stuck to what was familiar to me, and I'm certain a lot of people are still searching for better demos on the Ditto x4, hence this one!
I couldn’t find a Fade over time function on the Aeros which is why I’ve stuck with the Ditto X4. Not talking about a one time fade, but like the 3rd knob on the Ditto X4. That feature seems to be kinda rare in looper pedals and something I can’t be without.
@@davidknight754 it is a rare feature on loopers. The EHX 1440 is the only other looper I know thst has it. Some delay pedals with a Sound On Sound function do it i.e. the Strymon El Cap and Volante.
@@AntoineMichaudGuitar no you’re good, it’s often an issue of using multiple things at once. So for instance, using MIDI clock and loop effects at the same time will result in timing problems with newer versions of the firmware.

Is it only possible to have just one stored audio file?? (one for each engine, so 2) If not, then how do I select the other audio files that I want?
When you Hit the stop Button in the middle of a loop… does it beginn at the startpoint or in the middle?
