I appreciate the work that went into this video but... I think it has a bit too many things that I feel like should have been part of it and or worded differently for me to not wanna speak up. Firstly your first category "Empowering Buffs" is misleading as "Empowering" is actually a keyword inside of the game. One which has relevant interaction - of the buffs listed only "Empowering Rift" and "Well of Radiance" are actually empowering buffs, which can be confirmed using "Starfire Protocol" and "Spirit of Starfire" A more accurate label for this category can be grabbed from the souls games/souls community which has similar (if not the same) rules - calling them "Body Buffs" (Though realistically this is a matter of personal annoyance, more than an issue of factuality) Also its missing a note about the Radiant/Well of Radiance and Golden Gun interaction where Radiant will buff Golden Gun but well of radiance not doing so. So the "Only affects outgoing weapon damage" is also kinda false. Secondly calling the debuff category "Global Debuffs" is a bit problematic as they are local debuffs (on one target) not over the entire acitivity, but thats less of an issue than the empowering one as "Global Debuff" isnt a keyword anywhere in destiny. The more important one to point out IMO is that you dont really mention divs crit cage which has some odd interactions, always being a fixed crit multiplier. So if you are fighting Kali, who has a 2x crit multiplier on her head IIRC you will actually be doing less damage using divinity when shooting the divinity cage. For unique buffs I find it odd that you fail to mention that all weapon perks (such as bait and switch) fall into this category. I know it wouldn't be directly more informative here, but for sending this off to those who don't understand buffing that well it feels like an odd thing not to mention? Also facet of courage works more like a debuff (or more accurately, it acts as if it turns darkness abilities into debuffs) with the unique stacking rule set, you dont transfer this damage bonus onto another non-debuffed target like you would with a buff. Maybe its just a matter of wording, but it feels confusing as it directly follows you talking about another stacking debuff. (Also as someone else pointed out, Disruption Break is another debuff that behaves this way) Furthermore freezing a target actually reduces damage dealt against that target, though I dont know if it evens out with the shatter damage to a 10% buff or not. (Tested on a goblin on nessus, regular body shot with an SMG is 1059, body shot against frozen is 1041) As for tractor and felwinters being able to be extended by void weaken effects, that is because they *are* void weakens (can be confirmed using collective obligation) and for (probably) optimization purposes destiny doesnt apply a new debuff when it finds one with the same name already present, and instead just sets the timer. Buffs probably work the same way, which is why the Ember of Mercy bug was around for so long where it just set the timer for restoration to 2 seconds.
The terminology used in the video come from the "Court's Stacking Damage Overview" spreadsheet and infographic. It's very popular and extremely detailed, so it's used as a base of reference when talking about dmg stacking. Regarding Frozen enemies, you're incorrect. Frozen enemies take 10% more damage from special and heavy weapons, 5% more from any Light ability and 5% less from primary weapons. There's no modifier for darkness abilities. Facet of Courage is specifically considered an "Amplification", a buff or debuff that can be universally stacked with any other buff or debuff from any category. You're right on the other things you said.
@@themaxpanteraschannel9459 I did not know frozen interacted like that, thats interesting - I just did a brief check with an SMG in a lost sector as my memory piqued up there but it seems I was not as thorough as I should have been. For facet of courage I had thought that the buff damage increase lingers with the debuff, even when swapping off of the fragment, but it seems I was just wrong there - so fair enough.
Spreadsheet/Infographic maker here. I can answer some of the questions/comments re: naming, terminology, and categorization. I'll prefix to say that all of the terminology I use on my documentation is purely for the purposes of categorization; something like Disruption Break isn't included in "Global Debuffs" because it doesn't follow the same conventions as those that are in that category, plus it can stack with Global Debuffs. I'm a stickler when it comes to categorizing damage modifiers; I often tell folks to not look at individual modifiers by themselves but rather which category and then sub-category (or tier) they would they fit in. "Empowering Buff" is something I coined back during Forsaken days when my spreadsheet went public and to a wide audience. The reason I went for that is I wanted something still embedded to Destiny ("empowering" wasn't a common phrase back then but it had its origins within Solar 2.0). I wasn't fond of calling what the community used to dub them as "Global Buffs" - it wasn't really descriptive enough, but it seems like "Empowering Buff" has taken over that particular terminology. Problem is Bungie still don't have official terminology for this category; a term like "Body Buffs" may be more descriptive to "Empowering Buffs" but runs into the problem of defining what exactly is a "Body" buff. While I do agree "Empowering Buff" has its own issues (like cross contamination with Starfire Protocol) it's likely the best we'll have until Bungie give us proper categorization names (which seems very unlikely). Same with "Global Debuffs" - though I can't pretend to say I invented the phrase because "Debuff" is ubiquitous in gaming, the "Global" is something I've used since Forsaken to describe how its effects allow for all damage to deal more damage (hence "Global") to differentiate it from other "debuffs" (e.g. Disruption Break). Again, Bungie haven't really offered an official term for this category and I'm hesitant to refer to these as "Weakens" that some folks do because that term specifically refers to Void Weaken in-game and we have a number of things which aren't part of the Void Sandbox and I'd rather not try to share the term "Weaken" to mean two different sub-categories. The point about Tractor Cannon and Felwinter's Helm is a side-example as to why I don't refer them as Void Weakens; they have a higher potency then the standardized "Weaken" effect so it makes more sense in my mind to keep these split off from the Void keyword. Tether - perhaps the most Void of the Void Weakens - doesn't get extended by Void Weakens (I know technically why, but I'm just showing the inconsistency with wording and in-game) but can be stored with Collective Obligation. Funnily enough Tractor Cannon doesn't even refer to "Weaken" in its description, so this and other things means it's a whole mismatch of inconsistency which forces me to keep things clear-cut on my documentation to avoid the issue entirely. I do agree that Weapon Perks should have been mentioned within the "unique" category; on my documentation I have them as a separate category but I tend to also throw them in the "All Other Buffs" (including Activity Buffs, Amplification, Misc Buffs, etc). Things like Facet of Courage is something I refer to as an "Amplification" modifier; I omit referring them as "Debuffs" entirely because it leads to confusion like this. As I mentioned above, I try not to get into the nitty gritty of individual damage modifiers and refer to these specific examples (Disruption Break, Stasis Freeze damage effect, etc) to the category they are in as it's easier to contextualise.
@@TheCourtProjects thank you very much for taking the time of going over this. Its interesting to see the additional thoughts on this and ir gives a lot more context as to why certain things are named the way they are (I didnt realize you had already been going for so long) back then I would have totally agreed with your terminology, the game has just moved on. Which is why I brought it up here. And realistically as long as it stays in context and is explained I think it is just a matter of preference more than anything else. And I can totally see why you would do things as you have been. I appreciate the infographics you put out on the regular!
