This arch taping technique is another versatile way to help support those flat feet. Just remember that flat feet are often more than just a foot problem - they're a leg problem. This tape technique is great for some short-term help, but you'll ultimately need to correct any broader issues to find a long-term solution! Also, please subscribe!
Just found your video! I have noticed that when I activate my glutes, my knee and ankle alignment improve. This only works while standing, but I’m curious if some serious glute strengthening exercises would be beneficial. Thoughts?
Which health professional can diagnose the cause for fallen arch and treat the cause and bit the symptoms. Thank you in advance. I can't barely walk and I'm in excruciating pain
That's what he was explained about how the legs move in which causes you to not be aligned properly and r putting stress in these other areas of the body that the foot's drop. I hope I made sense @@kimlangston8230
Been looking for good ways to tape my ankles because I over pronate a lot, which causes bad shin splints. This technique is the most effective one yet. Keep up the good work!
Recently I am suffering from falling arche and I am actually going though physical therapy as well as being fitted for orthotics. With that said, until I get my orthotics I need some sort of support. This really does the trick!
Have a cast of your feet done for a perfect orthodic. Solo lab , (SOLO~ serving others loving others ) made mine from leather and dense spongy foam , I had metatarsal pad added and slight lift in heel . The usual orthodics injured me even more ( I have 3 pair )
In *MY* family, we’re born with them, & *because* of them, all have knee problems, despite being thin & athletic. Have also had every orthotic & none ‘change’ (or help) the foot, knee & back pain they’ve caused. 🤷🏻♀️ Taping does help but I’d go broke quick as an every-day application..
If applied right, they should be able to stay for as long at 3-5 days.. make sure you're feet are completely dry and to keep the ends loose to maintain adhesion for longer
They can certainly be a potential genetic component. It’s always worth working on improving the overall function of the leg including ankle mobility, hip mobility, and strength, and also lower back function , to see if things can be optimised further. Despite some genetic predisposition it’s also important to figure out whether there is also some underlying environmental issues as mentioned above just in case there is something that can be done!
I just did this and went for a run today and can verify it provides excellent support. One question, can you tell us what tape that is you're using? (if you recommend it)
Hey! Glad to hear the tape helps! The tape I use is the general rigid sports tape. There's a link in the description to a suitable type, but anything similar is often fine!
Great to hear it helped Amy! I use the white Fixomul tape underneath and the more rigid LeukoTape with my patients, but the rigid tape on its own works really well too. There's a link in the description if you want to see what they are!
Thank you so much, I needed this so badly. I'm getting x-rays for surgery, I have collapsed arches, and everything that comes with it. Been chasing after doctors for 7years, now finally , something might happen.. From my feet to my hips I am destroyed, but I have to keep moving, or rehabilitation will be next to impossible, but at the same time, I shouldn't damage myself further.. I need this, just to be able to get to the store just down the street. Thank you 💯
I have taken my daughter to various doctors, including an orthopedic because she has knocked knees entoeing and she’s flat-footed and no one seems to think that there’s anything wrong and say that she will grow out of it but she’s 11 years old now and has a lot of pain after her sports. What would you suggest I do? I massage her a lot and have her foam roll and stretch, but it seems that nothing has improved
Thank you. I dont have flat feet, but Had PTTD last year, have hypermobility and now having knee issues, scared walking without orthotics and understand what you are saying about the missing link. I havent been able to find it. Suspect is the hip/lower back/ glutes? Working with physio, but havent been able to go back to exercise and walking long distances. I see that you are in Australia too. What do you recommend?
Sorry to hear its been a struggle for you Maria! Its hard to give any specific advice without assessing you, but from what I find clinically, if someone is hypermobile they usually need some rotational strength through the hips. Despite the hypermobility, some patients still have relatively stiff segments of their lower back as well! Maybe something to speak about with your Physio if you aren't already? I have a video on flat feet (ruclips.net/video/-CKcOn6ycKY/видео.html) and PTTD (ruclips.net/video/zV6bbRaNhzk/видео.html) as well if you'd like to see if there's anything extra to try?
Taping for flat feet is essentially by definition a symptomatic treatment only. It can certainly generate some positive changes in pain and dysfunction, however for most people flat feet is a consequence of overall leg dysfunction. I do have a few videos on the channel looking at those under causes, if you’re happy to look for them!
I'm not understanding this. Is he saying that arch supports aren't good or did I get confused? Seems like u would always need the arches higher just for walking around in public let along exercising with flat feet. Mine is so bad that my arch actually has horrible adhesions and I'll tell u if I'm just in my slippers all day.. the adhesions get more rigid without my shoe supporting my foot
The idea is that arch supports should be thought of as a short term aide in a perfect world. They can certainly help people with their symptoms, but we also need to pair them up with things that get to the bottom of why a persons arch may be dysfunctional in the first place so we can graduate away from them eventually.
Really helped! Super well explained, thanks! Quick question though... would using athlete tape (the stretchy type) be a suitable replacement to use and just wrap it tightly, or should I just get the hard athlete tape?
I have a high arch.. I measure 7.5 when not standing But when I stand up my arch goes completely flat and my foot measures a 9. I have bad leg cramps. Would this be good for me to try? Thanks

Why are flat feet more than a foot problem?

What would a long term solution be? My podiatrists only suggest inserts....and its not working. I have done pt, but that only helped with some pain.

Hands down the best technique I’ve seen on RUclips. Thank you a lot!
Glad it helped Andrea!
Holy cow Batman! Instant relief on my ankle that I rolled years ago. Just started PT and this is a big help. I may have to shave a little fur.
Haha glad it helped Jack! Get those ankles silky and smooth!

But absolutely, I will be broke as well

Excellent delivery of information!! Thank you!!
Thanks Traci! Hope the taping technique helps!
Great tape technique, I always get for practice, it feels as if I have an arch, and only balls of feet n heel touches ground.
Its such a useful way to tape for arch support!
Just go to 5:45.
This really does the job on my foot.
Glad it helps!

Glad the video resonated Michella! Keep focused on the things you can influence and I'm sure you'll be running to the store in no time. Best of luck!
My feet have always been flat. I've never had an arch.
Oh thanks my feet really hurt alot bc of my flatfeet i have like a 10% arch and 90% flat feet. Can i also use normal tape i don't have that tape
Sports tape is generally best as it has a tiny bit of give but is still quite sturdy!
Can you use kinesiology tape with this wrap method instead?
Hey Brit! K-tape isn't as rigid and generally less effective for a supportive tape technique like this!

If it feels comfy and doesn't irritate the skin it can usually be kept on for as long as it feels it's helping.
