    Hi Lauren! Love your videos!
As an IP law student, I found this super interesting and wanted to chime in. The example you gave about podcast text being reused as written content is definitely plagiarism/infringement-it’s just in a different format. Copyright law considers adaptations too. There’s actually a case, Rogers v. Koons (1992), where a photograph was copied into a sculpture, and the court found it was infringement because there was substantial similarity. The average person could tell it was a copy, which made it a pretty clear case.
While it's true that enforcing IP rights is often challenging for smaller creators with limited resources, it’s still vital to document and publicise instances of copying. Calling it out is important because it not only protects your work but also makes people more aware of these issues. I agree with your view that video, podcasting, and other non-written forms need clearer protections, and cases like the Beige influencers could play a pivotal role in shaping awareness and enforcement around digital media.

I've been fascinated by the beige lawsuit since I first heard about it months ago. Genuinely curious if it'll go to court & what that could mean for influencers going forward. Also I find the Ballerina Farm move to feature in the magazine disappointing though not surprising

Lauren, you have seeped into my real life lol. All my kitties were in my room waiting for me to go feed them, and I said “hi everyone” and instinctively followed it with “welcome to mini scroll” haha.

I think the new law doesn't take into consideration that youth culture is online. With the complete lack of third spaces how are kids supposed to find community and culture without the use of online spaces. Taking away access to spaces outside their home and school has many dangerous implications for kids of marginalised or adverse experiences that that have just not thought about.
