He knew his lifestyle would burn Artie out real quick, and then there’d be no way to protect him once he was involved directly. Same with AJ. He didn’t want it for his son. He didn’t want it for Jackie Jr. I think as much as he resented Jackie Jr. (and Christopher) in the end, he kind of saw them as his examples of why he shouldn’t let people he genuinely cares about into that world.
I can understand that feeling of being desperate, ugly and wanting a sexy girl. It's creepy and then you think back and you're like "what the f was I doing?"
