"Unless you are on the run and in the witness relocation program I think it is nice to have something from your past." LOL
😂
he is truly a delightful treasure!
Love his way of putting things, an intelligent and truly great gentleman.
😂😂
Ya that was strange!
The man in the first house has a great sense of humor. I love his eclectic, refined taste, and he is delightful.
Bless the southern homeowners who so graciously share their spaces. They are so different than houses in the north and I love their sense of collecting and history.
James’ home is beautiful. He has such grace and warmth.
Yes and yes. His home is a beautiful reflection of his personality. I love his bedroom, just gorgeous.
I could just listen to him all day. He’s a collector of anything interesting, and his home reflects his travels as well as his many passions in life
Me too- what a wonderful vibe!
This man is humble and deserves such a beautiful home for his patience and hard work. Incredible taste!
This is my second time watching this, and I love this man
I love this house. But it is amazing to me how grown people with their own money think about what other people think of their home. I really like this gentleman because he often remarked how despite what others thought he should or should not buy or use, he did what HE wanted to do. To me, luxury is the freedom and finances to follow one's own sensibilities.
Very well said ! Totally agree
The money that people have ….😮flabbergasted ….i wish more people could live such lives ! It’s like a dreamland
I love how he said that his house is a time capsule of his life. That's exactly how I want my home to feel like
I throughly enjoyed Mr. Carter’s passion for history and beauty. Such a charming gentleman. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home! ❤
James Carter is adorable, he likes what he likes. Good on his friend Jane who assisted in putting things in place.
Beautiful homes, each very different reflecting their owner’s aesthetics. Mr Bates is one of the few featured on Homeworthy who, when crediting those who did different types of work in his home, mentions their names in full, not just referring to them by their first names or their profession, kudos.
omg the bookcase in the stairs wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww so beautifull
That last home was totally awesome - I adore his great taste and individualism.
This lady is so talented. She has a beautiful home. Painting..sculpting..flowers..fabrics..wife..friend..punchmaker
The first house is as delightful as its owner. I particularly like the bedroom - one of the nicest bedrooms from Homeworthy homes. That bed is exquisite and the dressing room/bathroom is charming.
Living in such a visually stimulating and pleasing home its not surprising your television set has never been turned on !!! Beautiful and charming home, bravO !!
The amazing wall of books with the spiderweb window is pure magic. Love everything about this home and his collections. I especially loved when he said he always wanted to live in the attic. I am 73 and ever since I was a little girl and saw the Shirley Temple movie The Little Princess.. I always dreamed of living up in the attic with that cozy little window. I would decorate it in my mind. Oh my imagination made me so happy.
My grandmother always had us watching Shirley Temple movies, that was my favorite. She had an oasis up there. Attics are magic.
I think I saw this episode before..
I have been desiring a kitchen that lives as a living room, and the Paul Bates kitchen is wonderful, what a calm, perfect space, and for that matter the entire house and tour, Paul Bates shows a combination of great taste, creativity and focus/vision, and most of all his love of home. ❤
My builder built the same home 3 times for one of his clients…it was awesome as they could continue their decorating over time. Saved money by being able to transfer furniture and window coverings and decor perfectly.
An incredible home. I love that he cherishes family items. Such an incredible architect.
Love, love the Southern U.S. home episodes and especially, all of the decorating tips, antiques and stories.
I love all of these gorgeous homes but the first home is actually my dream home. Not a dream room but the entire house is exactly what I want in my dream home. Exactly.
I am from the lower, poverty class. One thing from this divine house that gives me joy and an to use in my own home is the natural white used on the walls. Actually I plan to colour drench the rooms and furniture with Dulux natural white. Honestly such a calming, grounding and also classy colour that speaks to being wealthy. ❤
I am a thrifter not a reseller. Only 2 stores near where I live, I have to drive 1.5 hours to the nearest city to thrift the larger stores. So I have fun watching others!
Lavender Clotheline and Laurel Caldwell have amazing You Tube channels
Loved James Carter’s home! And his outlook on it. Well done
I love James Carter's home!! Just stunning!
Wow, what can you say...all three homes were extraordinary. Paul's mid-century modern was richly simplistic, earthy, airy and clean; James's was classic, elegant, warm and distinguished. Patty's home felt Parisian, feminine, with a deep appreciation of cherished heirloom, modern, and classic pieces mixed. The personal art pieces and hardware distinguish this home as deeply personal.
Beautiful classic home and fabulous sense of humor
Really, a nice place to spend your days with family. 🥰🥰
I have fallen in love with every piece of furniture ❤❤❤
I love everything about this house and I could listen to him talk about the furnishing all day long😍😍😍👏🏻👏🏻
All the houses are nice but personally I fell in love with Mr James's house. Everything he has is fantastic. There ia a big difference though when someone rents a house and doesn't own as he isn't allowed to renovate it. Although I rent an apartment I have decorated with things which interest me such antiques and vintage items and heirlooms. Appreciating art is my passion. I always mix and match various things and textiles together to see how well they work together.
I LOVE the massive bookcases and interesting book displays along with all the artwork and the plethora of stories attached to the memorabilia throughout the architects home- Such a Marvelous space to live in!
AND his narration throughout the tour was a pleasure to listen to as well!
I love a tudor style exterior.
I love this man as much this time as the last time I watched this video
The last house is everything (Paul Bates) one. I love everything about it. I was not expecting that when you see the front of it. This kitchen is very unique I love love it.....🤍🤎🤍
There’s such a lovely warm glow about the Birmingham home
This home is stunning. The attention to detail and the overwhelming amount of history and love poured in. Bravo, bravo bravo. And the host's sense of humor was a plus!
I like rich people says I have to have it. ❤️ stunning house!
I loved to see how I can use a china cabinet to house books!
I love his idea of decorating your home with things that tell about you and the travels you have made. He has an absolutely beautiful home and mine reminds a bit of his. It is also full of things I have collected, in my case, from my home country Sweden and from my travels in Europe. However the things that are in my house are mostly from flea markets and not from expensive antique stores. Nevertheless each item is beautiful with a meaning and a story behind it. My thought is that when I'm older I can walk through my home and reminisce around my past and all the places and nooks I've traveled to. Thank you so much for inviting me into this beautiful home.
1:18 Paul’s home is my favorite that kitchen is just phenomenal🧡
All homes are beautiful. So happy to see my home town to represented.
Beautiful homes and what gracious hosts. 👍💕👍
James Carter , what an interesting likeable man. His home is incredible. (30 years of buying items for the home in his head). One of my new favourites
I have SEEN THIS ONE BEFORE A FEW MONTHS AGO
Exactly, I had seen it before too about a month or so ago
All three homes have been featured before. Homeworthy routinely repackages together several past episodes in a “best of,” such as best outdoor spaces, best Christmas decor, etc. It appears this is a “best of” Birmingham, AL homes.
Yes I immediately noticed it was a repeat. Although I love the homes, it’s a bit deceiving to post as if it’s a new tour. Maybe this is the extended version??
Me too!!
Click Bait!
3 different homes and I love all 3
Thank you so much for the great compilation. Birmingham is a beautiful city with a lot of history.
His home is so beautiful and he is so delightful. He has exquisite taste. I love that his house has books everywhere. Those pieces he picked up from France are divine. His 30 years of collecting has paid off, absolutely stunning house sir!
This is a true masterpiece! The home is a work of custom art in every way. . .true design. Almost like, Japanese Minimalism meets English Cottage. xoxo thank you for sharing. .. BRAVO!
Beautiful home. I live north of Birmingham in Huntsville.
Thank you for highlighting Birmingham, Alison! We have some incredible homes and designers here.
I concur (watching from South Africa). What charming and beautiful homes. And I adore the accent!
I just think this this one of the best episodes and it’s not even my style- I just LOVE it so much though!!❤❤❤❤❤
I love it! Collections you have curated and cultivated! Very warm and inviting!
I just love the first gentleman and his stunning home. 🤩
Just FYI for the regular viewers here: So these are basically stitched together repeats of other tours we’ve already watched. There is nothing new, but obviously some like to rewatch anyways.
Paul house is so gorgeous omg i wish he can finish my house 😂
Absolutely gorgeous home! In love with your book collection, and your walking cane collection. Both are a passion of mine. Thank you for sharing your charming home ❤
James Carter: beautiful house and contents. I admire his resolve to go against the prevailing fads and his taking inspiration from the Imari porcelain lamp to which he has family connections; same re the checkerboard floor in the entrance hall. His taste is masculine, refined, and balanced; no ostentatiousness or over the top excess; except books, not a thing to have too many of. The lacquered walls in the dining room are amazing.
This is my favorite home you've shared on this channel. The kitchen and living room are the dream!
I'd love to go shopping in these three houses! Each one is exquisite in its own way.
A charming home and a charming man
All 3 of the homes are absolutely gorgeous! ❤
"SWEET HOME ALABAMA"
Lovely home! ❤
Who is the delightful gentleman at the end? I adore his home!
I love it and the furniture is so stylish❤ I could move in and never leave
I’d like the Margot bag😁

As a designer one of your best and I love so many ... thank-you!
I'm really enjoying this episode.
The home is beautiful very welcoming
What an enjoyable tour of the home in Birmingham Alabama. And I feel like the owner would be a person I’d enjoy visiting and have a nice conversation with a good scotch. 😊
I love all the matching lampshades !!! I wish I had a way to get those it would make it a lot easier to sell lamps .
What is the deal with the price of lamp shades? Hardly nothing to them but are $$$.
You have a beautiful design decorating sense.
Beautiful, impeccable!
Absolutely brilliant watch. Thank you so much. Talented man. Sensational home. ❤
Love his home
What a great home. So much to see and so very warm. I need to find your lamp shades you use. I absolutely love them.
Congratulations Neophyte Brothers....Welcome...GOMAB!
Last house -----> ❤
What a fascinating gentleman and exquisite taste. Beautiful design and so much thought and feelings in every room. Love the dressing/ bathroom. Fantastic idea. Thank you for sharing your home.😊
Those cabinet doors and room doors are stunning at 1.29
Wonderful l love tudor homes beautiful videos
Mr. Carter, you are a man after my own heart! My home is also a time capsule of my life with things from my ancestors! You had me at walking sticks, Imari (I have 2 sets of my mom’s Imari china), chippendale, Egyptian revival, antiques…then you mention one of my favorite artists, Canaletto!!! Really? I was an art major and I am so surprised more people are not “taken” with him. Honestly, I am not even through the video and I am commenting! I couldn’t wait! You are a gem, sir! I could sit, and walk & talk with you for hours. I am in the process of re-styling my home and collections and this has been so inspirational. Thank you homeworthy for presenting Mr. Carter’ home💕🩷🫶
