- Tag along to Normandy, France for a behind the scenes visit with Peter Copping and Rambert Rigaud at their 15th century manor house, la Carlière. With decades of fashion experience - Peter helmed Nina Ricci and then Oscar de la Renta and Rambert is at Balenciaga - these two translated their talents to the transformation of their enchanting country home. Years of significant restoration (think new roof, heating, bathrooms, kitchen etc.) brought the house into shape for 21st century living while maintaining its storybook character. The couple were then in position to indulge their passion for interiors. Learn how a serious love of antiques and color take center stage, where burgeoning collections of art and objets expertly enhance every space, whether on walls or in captivating vignettes. Even the bathrooms are fully decorated with wallpaper, art and personal treasures arranged in appealing assemblages. The house reflects both its history and its owners with personality and romance. Each room retains its own distinct personality, and yet the house has an effortless flow, perfect for the duo during their weekend escapes from Paris or for a throng of holiday visitors. One of their many decorative addictions is antique textiles, which can be seen throughout but especially in their effective incorporation of tapestry in many rooms creating visual interest, warmth and a way to bring the outdoors in. This obsession has been parlayed into a new business venture named after the house. Initially encompassing a sumptuous collection of “Haute Cushions,” it now includes lampshades and continues to expand. Clearly Peter and Rambert have embraced their flair for interiors with creativity, sophistication and unbridled passion for collecting. Unfortunately the videos are never longer than 10 minutes! I think the creators do that so we will always come back for more! They are beautifully written and well done always! I never miss a new video!

For me, this video (17 mins) is the perfect length. Between 15 and 20 minutes is great. Anything over 30 minutes seems excessive to me, and less than 10 minutes doesn’t feel long enough!

Definitely some bold fabric and design decisions in this manor house. Love the quirky bathrooms! ❤I was watching an episode of the RUclips channel: Journey to the Chateau ….Patrick and Stuart have renovated multiple homes in the United States and are now renovating and restoring a 17th century chateau in France. Stuart is an amazing designer with over 30 years design experience and they have installed a custom print of a wallpaper that he designed. 😍
I actually had to take a moment to collect my dignity after seeing the presentation of those dog collars, but then I became totally entranced by the burlap padded walls with the studs… I mean, NO ONE I’ve seen in the world of interior design has come up with these brilliant ideas. Yes indeed, this film deserves to be seen again and again and shared with others in the field.

My preference goes to the kitchen. Lovely garden too. In France there are many chateau for sale for not so much money as nobody can afford heatings bills which were x by 4 after the Ukraine war. Yes by 4 here in my country in Belgium. Bravo to this couple for their wonderful work.

Love the unicorn heads on the wall, and the dog-collar collection! Before we even get to the furniture, wall coverings, and textiles, the sheer magnitude of their art and sculpture collection would fill a good sized museum. The presentation does have English Country vibes, yet I was transported to "Napoleon in Egypt". The lighter woods, and influence of North Africa brought us back to the French countryside. I love tapestries, and went with what was available here in Southern CA at the time to give my barrel ceiling Spanish style living room a Medieval feel; reproductions of William Morris scenes with knights and ladies, and sections of the Bayeaux Tapestry (which I had framed). :D No fabric on our walls, though...cats. What a special place!
