On today’s episode of Homeworthy, we’re taking you to Decatur, Georgia for a look inside designer Lathem Gordon’s home. Her post-war cottage packs a punch with eclectic design and lots of layers...thoughtfully arranged furniture and multi-functional pieces were essential when designing her small space. Each room is draped in artwork and filled with towers of books. A collector of all trades, you can’t help but notice the gorgeous mirrors and seashells dotted throughout Lathem’s home. Enjoy!

Nice to see people living in a real home ,with art work and their belongings, not staged
Lol, that's an anomaly these days. I don't know how people live in their staged homes. No history or memories, no coziness or comfort. It's all so blah and bland.
Such a beautiful storied home!❤
Real homes have soul and are so beautiful and personal ❤
Such a sweet lady that loves her family and home. The home was not excessive but just right. She enjoys the memories and appreciates the home since her and hubby did projects themselves to save money. I loved this about the hostess...just down to earth but with a bubbly personality. Thanks H/W
Where a minimalist could take a cozy nap, wake up in a charming, interesting well put together home and change her entire point of view❤ Lovely presentation
This home would give me anxiety lol. I can't handle clutter but to each their own.
Loved the way this lady spoke about their home - she used ‘we’ and ‘ours’ a lot - it was really about her family 💚
Wow wow wow this designer is a wizard at making esthetics work in a small home. Her home space is an absolute dream. The home feels larger than 1300 square feet. Because of this, she certainly hasn't comprimised with bringing in luxury and texture. She's going to be busy with her business after showcasing her little piece of heaven!
She certainly made the very most of a smaller space- love her personality!
I love this house! No great room. All the walls haven't been taken down. It's small. Just a wonderful place. It truly embodies you and your family. Thank you for the tour.
YES!!!
Yes, I hate great rooms. I think it looks awful when you immediately see all of the common living area and the kitchen immediately upon entering a home. If that's what you want then go build something new or buy a house with no character but it's a sin to start tearing down the walls of a charming older home.
We are in the very early stages of a remodel, when we met with the architect and designer they were trying to convince us to take the wall down between the formal dining room and kitchen. I said no, at the very most they could make the the door opening a little wider but the wall stays. We are in a 1600 square foot traditional style home and I like the layout we have. I don't like open concept, at least not for me!
@@jaycarver4886 Exactly!!! I think it would ruin the character of our 1948 home.
@@jaycarver4886 Hmm? if your rooms are 8x8, and elbow room doesn't exist except outside, everyone should make their chosen house their home. Character and interest can be added in trim, window muntins, beams, wainscoting or as Lathem did, with wall paper and paint choices, art, books and collectables. I speak from experience, living in just less than 1000 square feet!
The soul of this home is everything! It was so touching to see the love poured into these walls.
She is a very humble and elegant person who appreciates her modest home and all it offers. Love how she incorporates items from her family and travels and the stories behind each piece.
Public confession: sometimes when I am struggling with insomnia, I imagine that I'm giving a tour of my little home for Homeworthy. 😂 Very relaxing, works like a charm!
This home is a DREAM. I adore her layered style, and love that they're living cheerfully in their darling small house and filling it with charm and treasures. A favorite I will return to!
Oh my! So do I! 😂
I imagine doing a HW tour too...and even go around doing it. However, I have to imagine how I would love my little house to be though as I dont have any money to put into it at the moment...😂
Love this lady! Her house is a lovely home, and she doesn’t use “LIKE” as a filler word!
The use of like and other filler words is an indication of lack of intellect.
A very down to earth home. I am a maximalist and love layering. The art work was excessive for me. I felt cramped rather than enveloped in some of the rooms. Dining room and kitchen wonderful rooms. Outdoor living space absolutely beautiful.
Usually I find myself skipping a lot of the plates, stories but she had me from the moment she opened the door...I love her home and it's truly a lived in and enjoyed home.
Love that the house is petite. Shows you don’t need a large space to make an impact. Loved also how she hung Art/photos from the rods. Great idea to copy.
I've said this before whenever I've watched one of your episodes that make me feel like I am casually walking through the home of the host, and this has been one of those episodes. I love the house, the character it offers, and I'm available any time for a nice dinner and conversation!
This was a beautiful house! I really like that it was not some grand spacious home with too many rooms.
I feel the same way. So much going on but so calm at the same time. Love it! When can I move in?
So much stuff and it’s everywhere not my style but I appreciate how she incorporated everything in a way that makes it look nice.
I really like that it's not a grand spacious home with only one large room because all the walls were taken down along with all the character
Love her and the home! ❤
This home tour made me so happy-seeing a home decorated in the style I love-with color, layered treasures, beautiful antiques and upholstered pieces, etc. This shows that a family of four can live a beautiful life in a house with less than 1500 square feet! Thanks so much for sharing this look into your lovely and warm home, but you didn’t show us your puppy!!
Such a warm, happy and charming home and owner. Just love all her stories and the way everything has a meaningful history! 💕🌷💕
💫~Wow! What a snazzy little cottage!!
~ Packed with panache! ~Comfy, cozy, gorgeous! Favorites: dining room drapes & that abstract!❤😮👍 ~Kitchen cabinet color, master bedroom paint color & drapes... all this beauty in 1300 sf, plus a wonderful dining porch!! ...STOP!!😲🤦♀️ ~One could not ask for more. ~Lathum is so charming, warm, friendly, & funny! The exact kind of decorator you would want to work with! ~A special thanks for this one Allison!👍
I loved this tour so much that I was going to comment but you said everything I was feeling!
What a quirky, cute home! What I appreciate most is the fact that this was a small home instead of a castle. Thanks so much for this wonderful home tour.
A real home! Love that it’s not a mansion or a grand estate, but that it’s a small home with a big heart, like most people have. What makes this home so special is the owner and the love and care she has put into it. Love, love, love all the books and art!
Such a pleasure to see someone who, uses and displays books as they were meant to be and not as stupid decor with their backs facing front or colour coded. Enjoy your lovely place
I love how this designer tells the story of her & her family’s lives via the items in her home. Love how she & her husband have made things work. Love that this is a real home.
Alison, I love the homes you select for your audience. This home is well loved, very cozy, and the owner so personable!
Just started watching and I already love her style. Beautiful and full of character...
Agree! I’m 40 seconds in and have to go ...but I am DEFINITELY coming back to this one! Love it
Just starting watching . I want to shed the word hoarder off my back! I will incorporate some of her ideas in my plan. I have some lovely pieces from family that needs to be beautifully displayed, so when I’m gone our grands will cherish them rather than donating. I don’t have lots of light but have some nice mirrors that will reflect the light I need. Thank you for your warm words.
Love, love, love the house.HER collections and style. The fact that her art is not from well-known artists but pieces she likes says a lot about her and also the fact that she hasn´t gone for an enormous house just to show off
I love small bedrooms feels like you're in a nest!
I love this home, esp. the collections. You can keep those minimalists, this is how a home should "feel" !
How nice to see a home that looks like a home for a family not a cold museum to impress. Love the feeling there.
Ok, this is my favorite house (and owner!)! That’s saying a lot, because Homeworthy has featured some amazing homes. ❤
Glad to see someone that is normal and down to earth. Don’t have to spend a lot of money to make a home feel and look beautiful. She has what she likes and don’t follow trends 😊
I live in Atlanta in a cottage-y neighborhood - and her house makes me feel at home! She spoke of wanting people to be comfortable; that resonates with me. ❤️
My first hime was a 850 sq foot bungalow in 1/4 acre. I adored that little house! Latham and her husband have created a beautiful space for her family.💜
A home in the fullest sense. One with a heart. Distinctly deferent from a house. Love it.
Beautifully done! Very stylish and well curated- but still a warm, liveable family home. Definitely one of the best featured on the channel. Gorgeous!
Thoroughly enjoyed this lady and her home. Down to earth and very talented. Loved listening to her.
Beautiful home and lovely lady.
Very warm and inviting ... and the hostess was just great. Beautiful and happy place.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! I, too, have an addiction to art work and mirrors. OMG LOVE this home!!
Your best tour yet. Lathem is the perfect guide. This proves that small homes are the most comfortable.
My favorites…
What she did to her daughters twin beds!
Loved the addition (screened porch) her husband made.
Loved the guest bedroom and the headboard she and hubby made.
Love the panels in the living room and how she hung her artwork.
Kitchen was nicely updated and the color was soothing.
I loved how relaxed and elegantly she designed her home.
Lastly…her adorable dress deserves a mention.
This video is such a delight! Her personality and warmth is engaging and is truly reflected in her home, a look that I strive for. I can also relate to her penchant for collections and am going to steal her line about not being a hoarder because her things are curated! Gotta love it!
This is what you call a well lived in, yet immaculate home. I LOVED every corner and every story. One can tell it is a real family home. I enjoyed the authenticity, all the art and all the antiques.
Love her attitude towards life and everything she has and everyone who fills her heart with joy. She's so refreshing!
Love her home , beautiful and a lovely soul !
Great tour! Completely enjoyed my time spent in Georgia our guide was so charming to watch and listen to. Bravo!
Breathtaking ❤❤love the rooms, a different take in each room, but so cohesive .. I am so glad she didn’t take the walls down. She has a great eye for detail. Oh my goodness the story about that rug. I would’ve framed it also.😭 thank you for your service to our country. Both of you made a sacrifice.
Delightful!!!
Love your home! That panel with the gallery wall is really striking. And your collections are beautifully integrated. ❤
I LOVE THIS HOUSE!!! Her taste and decor is FABULOUS!!! If I find a house with this floor plan, I will be encouraged to buy it, knowing that it can be beautiful like hers.
I've watched this video AT LEAST 8 TIMES 🙂😃
She is inspiring. It's all about the love for her family, travel and history. A beautiful welcoming and practical home, with a clever use of space. I can relate to all those books too ! ❤
There are so many things to love about this home. I am enthralled with the gallery walls, the books, and the printed drapes. So many designers I've watched say no to all these things. Horray for a designer that shows how beautiful these things can be in a real home!
Imagine an artist watching this and seeing his/her art hanging in her home.
So warm and cozy! LOVE your home, thank you for the tour!
I love the identity that the owner created for this home. There is no way to buy the look from a store....because each piece is curated over time with love and attention to detail. There is a strong sense of family and home here...often lacking in interior design. Love it! Thank you for sharing and inspiring the viewer to do the same. 🏡💕
She’s down to earth and exudes warmth as does her home. Great taste and beautifully curated objects d’art but you feel like you could sit down and be comfortable in any room. ❤️
Delightful Designer and Home!
What a wonderful journey in design layered with life’s treasures! Love this beautifully curated home. 💛
Wonderful woman,great home.Thank you
Stunning - really enjoyed this Homeworthy - Gorg Georgia!
I love small houses and this house is beautiful, cozy, perfect. When the children are gone a small house is more appreciated.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ this house
I love her approach to home and design, and having a house that absolutely hugs !! She is amazingly talented!
Very nice, well made ❤
This was fantastic!! My absolute favourite tour so far. A combination of absolute elegant style and down-to-earthness.
Her personality shines through as she talks us through their beautiful home, you even get a sense of what her family is like.
I love how generous she is with her tips too.
Loved this a lot.
Finally an absolutely beautiful home that is not oversized!! Like to see more of these.
I love her!!!! A delightfully, unashamed collector that makes it all work so beautifully and functionally in a small home! It's now given me more ideas for my small space too!!! 💕
Wonderful home and designer!
Every room in this house resonates with me. Her taste is exquisite, from the patterns and textiles to the art and antiques. It's personal and cozy but chic, functional and well designed. Give me a small, historic house that's full of warmth and meaning over a showy, cold McMansion any day.
What a truly beautiful home! Most beautiful is it’s soul. God bless the family that made it into what it has become.
Bravo. This was lovely.
Beautiful! Lathem is just adorable! I just want to hang out with her & talk for hours. Love her home & the stories she tells.
What a beautiful home! A real homey home! And the lady is so charming😊 The decor is a bit to much for me, although I also collect books and am addicted to mirrors and art, but it suits her style and the home so well👍 Every room is warm and inviting and lovely. But most I love the girls room with the elegant drapery behind these cozy beds. When I saw this room, I immediately wanted to be a child again and live in such a lovely place!! 😀 Thanks for the tour of this lovely home and all the best to the family🍀 Greetings from Germany 😊
I love this home I would be happy there lol
An excellent hostess & great presenter! I enjoy her style of decor! She’s real & so is her home!!
This is the best Home Tour Yet! Beautiful Home and Style.
I’m not even ten minutes in and I am already obsessed and inspired. She’s fabulous! This is already a favorite! She’s top tier like Bunny Williams! GODDESSES!
What a WONDERFUL hostess she is to we viewers. 💗. Great presentation.
What a delightful and fascinating woman and what a beautiful and warm home she has created!
Beautiful home and love the size of the home and how nicely you have decorated each space. So cozy and beautiful. Love love all of the artwork filling all the walls. I too collect as many prints for the walls, just love the look and many I find in my travels and all mean something. This is definitely my type of home.
I love that home and the way the owner expressed herself, lovely in all aspects!
I love the porch that was added. It's nice and large, perfect for entertaining.
Love this place. You are definitely a maximalist --somehow it all works together. Just lovely.
One of my favorites
Love your home. You speak my language most definitely. Mirrors and artwork are one of my obsessions as well -Oh yeah and lamps. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Decatur, Georgia has two of the neatest women and the area is blessed that they are both designers! Latham and the other girl (can't remember her name) have two of the realist homes I truly enjoyed being invited into. The special framed pieces here are so beautiful and I would never think to have so many but it works. Thank you so much for sharing your home and all your loves!! God Bless!!
Beautiful home! I loved that this woman framed several items that meant something to her! The rug, the child’s drawing, etc. Attractive woman who made her home one of my favorite of this channel!
I particularly love the houses that are smaller and have more character than the large cavernous things we see everywhere now. Beautiful home!
I just watched this episode again. This homeowner is inspirational!
Awww...She is so darling and fun! I have a 1947 bungalow in a Southern California resort town that is very famous for it's midcentury modern homes but also has some great homes from the 20s through the 40s. There were about 800 identical bungalows built for Veterans returning home from WWII and it's amazing to see what has happened to them over time. Mine was a foreclosure, fortunately intact, just needing some TLC but we have done our best to keep it original. It is such a sweet home, and very hard working also! The entry is the same, you walk straight into the living room so furniture placement & scale is key. Funnily enough, we have the same marble dining table as y'all! It's lived many lives as a family home, and often a long term or seasonal rental. People always fall in love with it's charm. I love to see how folks choose to decorate it and move things around & make it their own. So much creativity in a small space! I am a huge fan of the bungalow style in general. So functional and practical and yes, they do "hug" you. Thanks for all the beautiful inspiration & tips and treasures! Love your forest panels and gallery wall - so clever - as well as all the bookcases, esp the rotary. The shutter doors are great! We had heavy, wood and glass doors that had been added to all the bedrooms (!). Soundproof, but not too private. One of the renters actually "frosted" them with a film, it actually came out great and we decided to leave them that way. What a smart idea to add glass & mirror to the dining cabinet. Great porch! Those are the best coziest outdoor sofas I think I've seen. Dreamy!
Beautiful home! We can feel the love and dedication this family display in every room! Thank you for sharing!
Loved it! You've got a lot of heart and it's expressed in your beautiful home. Your love for your family clearly influences your design choices with a wonderful result.
This has to be one of my favorites, and it’s hard because so many homes featured on here are all stunning but this one is special because of its size and her love of her life. She didn’t let the size of her home stop her from doing and decorating with everything she loved and wanted. I have a small 1400 sq ft ranch style home and this was inspiring to see how she made her home feel larger and what she did with small spaces. It’s wonderful when you have a partner who is very handy too! I’m also a maximalist but when I see other people’s collections I feel like I haven’t gone overboard 😂. I really enjoy seeing what brings other people joy and what their home says about them. I find these are my types of people and are infinitely more interesting and welcoming, I love that.
That’s a great home, and that’s a great presentation.
Thank you 🙏
I love this channel her home is lovely and Alison cooking was fun to watch 😀💚😀
Thank you, Tiffany!!
@@Homeworthy🥰🥰🥰
Beautiful home.
What a gorgeous home! Great use of space and found pieces that double as storage.
I love this segment, the presenter and home of memories. Everything felt reminiscent of my family and self, wonderful memories to share. I’m renovating a small bungalow and will incorporate several aspects into my home. Thank you! Continued blessing and enjoyment.
Oozing with warmth and character. Very homey. Love it!
I am so happy to watch this episode, the lovely homeowner had a textile from Guatemala , my home country, thank you, because you appreciated.
