His wife wishes she had that motor in her lawnmower... or anywhere... a push mower makes maybe 5 Hp and weighs 20lbs, I get that out of a 1/2 Lb Neu 1509 geared electric in my faster planes... this guy is pushing at least 20hp and likely more from a 1Lb motor. Electric rocks!!! Unless you want to fly a really long time. Tho turbines suck more in that case. Trade-offs.

Old (ship) pilot's proverb "A ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for". Can we level set: this is RC, and it is a hobby, not life or death. Of the 100s or 1000s of successful flights he enjoyed to gain those skills, you only saw the one that did not end so well. The joy of flying (RC!) as you see fit carries risk, and sometimes it catches up to you. Nothing time and money can't fix.

That looked incredibly painful for the copter and the person who owned it! That is why I fly small and inexpensive craft. I see rich people destroy expensive RC craft at my RC field almost every weekend. I sold an EDF fighter jet for this exact reason. I figured I would try to recoup some of my money before it went up in smoke. I bought two small planes that are stabilized and are almost impossible to break when I crash. Much less stress and very fun to fly which in my opinion is the reason that I love the hobby!

You rarely see this smoothness even in experience scale heli pilots. also the amount of hours you have and the credentials you state explain exactly why you are not even close to this guys level or able to recognize it.
