After replaying the video a couple of times, my theory is that due to all the banking from side to side caused a lot of stress in the wing and therefore, caused it to rip apart. I may be wrong but that’s what I think happened.
Agree, but the plane should sustain such movements as they can happen any time due to wind turbulences or other maneuvers necessary to correct the flight path immediately. Good luck though that it didn't happen when the pilot needed to correct the path during the fly-by! Wow that adverse yaw was outrageous. Something was twisting causing that problem and looked to set up a vibration to structural failure of wing. He never really had control from the rotation and nearly crashed it on first fly by.
I'm sure it sucks big time for the builder/operator, but there's something satisfyingly realistic looking the way these RC aircraft come apart. Y'all gotta start putting telemetry FDRs (black boxes) onboard. Accelerometer, air speed, and altitude graph would look neat to see for the final 5-10 seconds of flight!
Wing overload stress, or airframe stress, the pilot rolled left and right 4 or five times and each time the wings pushed against the air and eventually the flexibility of the wings wasn't good enough to overcome the stress and the airframe snapped from bending too much
For the record, I appreciated what you wrote and was just making a joke. The other two pathetic losers that threw in and attacked you over this should have their heads examined.
Spongebobs Codpiece I thought the same thing ! I think the violent flying and manoeuvre stressed the wing, which is a good thing because hopefully now he’ll fly it more gracefully?
@@Beaver-b1v No, the day before one of the turbines in that wing burned. Then they swapped with a new one the day of the flight, but at that point the flames from the burnt turbine probably had weakened the wing's structure and caused the crash.
The 747-400 is a stable aircraft, but this flight was suffering from instability issues from the start. Sadly, it appears to be a catastrophic structural failure due to wing/aileron flutter. What a shame...
The real thing flies at over 500mph. The size of the aircraft (model) and the camera may make it seem fast and close to the crowd. If it was lumbering across the sky, people would be saying "it looks tail heavy" or "Uh, it looks underpowered". The real thing looks like it is going slow but it is actually going several hundred mph. I don't know if the wing failure was preventable. Someone mentioned there was a crack that appeared earlier. Vibration from just flying around may have contributed to the wing failure.
I'm not a RC model pro at all, but my initial thought after take off was the airplane had excessive thrust and it was flying at high speeds for a model jumbo jet. I didn't feel like it cruised at a comfortable speed. Perhaps the wing gave out due to structural stress as a result. Beautiful model btw.
@X absolutely agree with you. They should revoke his turbine waiver and giant scale clearance approval. He could have seriously injured or killed someone.
Just after the flyby, at 2:23, you can see the right wing bent upwards slightly just near the inboard engine. The damage had already occurred by this point.

How was the sheep?
Wow what a coincidence!
747, 747 houw do you feel about the airbus a380 groundings?
Gud
The reason it broke is obvious, just imagine a real 747 flying like mach 3.
That aint it sir
I don’t think you understand how physics works.
I dont think that was anywhere close to mach 3.
He’s referring to it’s size relative to its speed
@@BazamO hey are you dumb
Reason it crashed: overspeed and too many g’s pulled when pulling up resulting the wing to tear off. It was later reported that 243 people died and 2 survived. Sources: Jase Dussia news
The Matchbox Fire Department was as brave as ever that day.
Wow, props to the cameraman for keeping the plane in the frame. Not something you see everyday
He wasn't a good builder and pilot either. He fishtailed the turns.

6 months prior to the flight.
"Hey Fred, did you glue that wing spar?"
"I think so."
Wing overload stress, or airframe stress, the pilot rolled left and right 4 or five times and each time the wings pushed against the air and eventually the flexibility of the wings wasn't good enough to overcome the stress and the airframe snapped from bending too much
Looks like it done broke to me.
I could see that without that long drawn out explanation, thanks

For the record, I appreciated what you wrote and was just making a joke. The other two pathetic losers that threw in and attacked you over this should have their heads examined.
Wow, I nearly covered my eyes on the first pass... he was flying it like an F-15! Only luck that it didn’t hurt anybody... what a nob...
Spongebobs Codpiece
I thought the same thing ! I think the violent flying and manoeuvre stressed the wing, which is a good thing because hopefully now he’ll fly it more gracefully?
Tothemoon hopefully he’s given up the hobby! 👍
@@Beaver-b1v No, the day before one of the turbines in that wing burned. Then they swapped with a new one the day of the flight, but at that point the flames from the burnt turbine probably had weakened the wing's structure and caused the crash.
Gabriel Biller Giareta ok cool so normally it’s totally cool to fly them like that?

It’s literally like a scene from a movie
Damn shame. Would love to see the footage from that drone though.
Finally, something that replicates my experience of piloting aircraft in videogames
The 747-400 is a stable aircraft, but this flight was suffering from instability issues from the start. Sadly, it appears to be a catastrophic structural failure due to wing/aileron flutter. What a shame...

Why does almost every pilot fly scale models way toooo fast??? Slow down!!!!! Bloody amateurs!
@Power 2 Weight their bank account won't be having fun after this...
@Power 2 Weight I'm not jealous, I'm miffed because this was entirely preventable. No one likes to see money wasted due to self-made problems.
Vibration from just flying around may have contributed to the wing failure.
no fun involved there; i concur; fly slower n more scale
Then build it to take it
Sum beach was all over the place with that low pass.
That dicey flyby could have resulted in one of the weirdest airshow disasters ever.
Yeah
@X absolutely agree with you. They should revoke his turbine waiver and giant scale clearance approval. He could have seriously injured or killed someone.

Just after the flyby, at 2:23, you can see the right wing bent upwards slightly just near the inboard engine. The damage had already occurred by this point.

On October 24, 2019 a Boeing 747 running on autopilot had failed and caused irreparable damage. There were 50 souls on board which non of which survived. Investigations stated the welds which held the wing on to the body failed.
That’s my FAA report right here
Wields failed due to a malfunctioning speed read out, causing the autopilot to accelerate which pushed the wing wields past pressure point
