    So schade!

    I fly a lot of helicopters and they are two mistakes that were made during landing. Never land a helicopter at a right angle from your point of view, as it is hard to tell if you're perfectly level and not drifting from side to side. Always land with the nose pointing directly away from you. If you helicopter starts to tilt after landing all you need to recover is quickly take off again. That is the only option! Never try to recover when on the ground.

      "Always" seems a bit limiting. It sucks he had this crash but I don't think that there needs to be hard and fast rules about how to land (or fly). If he wanted to avoid a crash, he could have just stayed home. It's not a mistake to do things that are a little less safe and secure than what others do, it's just taking more risk.

    Great model with a lot of attention to detail and probably the reason he‘s not used to crashing. I fly a lot of a RC planes, jets and drones; especially with the latter I learned to disarm within a split second when crashing. Here he first makes a gesture with his hand before killing the turbine which made damage much worse unfortunately. Unless he failsafed (highly unlikely) he also should have been able to counteract that slow roll which would have prevented the mishap.

      @@slobama a collapsing main gear leg causes a roll movement which can easily be offset if you stay focused until the very end of the flight. Return to hovering, retract the gear, put her down on the belly, all good.

    • @12345fowler
      @12345fowler Год назад

      @@rFlightFPV Stop telling BS. Once you offload the main rotor to settle it on to the ground, you can't do sh** if you have to compensate in roll cauz one of your main gear collapsed. You don't have enough lift on the rotor to do that once you offload, and I am not even speaking about the instant reflex needed to achieve that. For anyone doing that scale heli this will be a lesson to learn and the landing gear has to be modified to have a positive mechanical lock. theses heli's can weight up to 25kg and setting down even gently you will have maybe 30kg of force on the gear, so they must be locked mechanically to take the punch.

    • @rFlightFPV
      @rFlightFPV Год назад

      @@12345fowler agree on the gears needing a mechanical lock. The rest is BS. The gear collapsed right after he set it down, headspeed still at flight speed, a simple roll input would have saved it, period. Lowering collective has zero impact on roll and pitch authority as long as the headspeed is still there which it was. I‘ve flown models and real helicopters. Hovering both needs constant inputs, the movement/corrections not noticable to the non-pilot. Everyone who flies them has the reflexes to correct such a move. He probably mentally called it a day when he had set it down and thus was not ready to correct.

    • @12345fowler
      @12345fowler Год назад

      @@rFlightFPV The gear collapsed after he reduced his pitch to almost flat otherwise there would have been no weight on wheels. Once your servos are at the travel limit (this is scale bird not a acro heli) it takes some time for them to move up again and start giving some lift. If your main baldes pitch is 0.- and you roll there won't be much effect. This is not about rotor speed this is about rotor lift. Anyway this discussion is almost pointless, as even if he could roll out with sufficient rotor lift I maintain that there is no way a human can detect the failure and react in a sufficient quicktime to correct it. But keep dreaming bud. PS Do you regularly fly scale helis weighting 25 kg with scale heads ?

      I have crashed like this before and the force of the impact will normally bend and wreck the gearbox and every control linkage etc. You often find cracks in the mounting points for all the engine / gearbox. The loads involved with that rotor disc going from high speed to zero in 0.1 second are very high. In the past after this type of mishap I have found it cheaper to replace the airframe and swap all the radio gear etc. I was flying cheap (by comparison) 450 size helicopters though.

    You know what I like more than watching a model helicopter sitting on a table for a full minute? Going to the bathroom, and just about everything else.

    Heartbreaking to watch, A lot of time and effort went into building that helicopter. Not to mention expensive.

    Looked like a hidden dip in the grass. I’d be hacked off too. Awesome flying Sir. And a magnificent model! Worth building again.

    What a beautiful helicopter! Excellent scale flying, too. I'm not positive, but the accident looked like an over torque situation. Once he let off the collective, the engine speed stayed the same, but he didn't have the tail-rotor countering the torque of the main rotor.

    Geez man my hand Pam's where sweating. Great scale helicopter and flying there. The exact same thing happened to me after landing I keep the rotor speed up for another round and rolled the heli over for some season unknown to me. Hope you'll back in the air soonest. Great flying.

    The pilot was great and the plane as well. Very nice and smooth flight. The reason was that the half-tire fell into a small hole, so the balance was imbalanced

    Has happened to me a few times. The same DEATH tilt after landing. I mean, the pilot was no rookie and I would like to know what causes this. Sorry about the chopper. Beautiful machine you have there.

    I think he came down with too much engine throttle. And in turn that caused a "wash bucket" ground effect that overturned the aircraft. Perhaps if he had come in like a plane instead of a vertical drop down that may have prevented this. Then again i could be completely wrong as well. But just my two cents with the choppers i've flown. Thank god nobody got hurt by those rotor blades you can clearly see what they did too the ground. These are NOT and i repeat NOT toys folks. They are mini scales of the real deal and this had jet turbines on it as well. Meaning it takes a skilled pilot to fly one of these. Hopefully, the damage wasn't too bad and he can repair it and learn from his mistake and be up and running again.

    Que buen modelo, despegue, vuelo y aterrizaje, el accidente sobre el final fue totalmente impredecible, todavía lo siento, me pregunto qué habrá provocado ese movimiento que lo desestabilizó, quizás una fuerte ráfaga de viento ?, I'm really sorry, I send you a big hello and thanks for sharing.
