It has to at least be played up a bit. I figure there was a grain of truth to those fears, but if he was having serious issues affecting his work, getting a VFX artist to treat him instead of a licensed therapist or psychiatrist would be a terrible idea. You can't fix phobias overnight.

Great episode! All jokes aside, I actually work for a startup that does this. I am a content creator and we use virtual reality exposure therapy ( as well as Digital EMDR) to help people deal with their phobias and traumas by creating VR videos. Last production I worked on was for people with a phobia for dentists!
Did you use dentist clowns to fix their phobias?
If it's like the articles I've read, it's just regular dentists. The goal is to ultimately desensitize the patient by overloading them. Force them to process mentally past the fear.

I love the idea that it's a curated experience being controlled by someone outside of the headset. I think a lot more VR games could use this. It's kind of like Cabin in the Woods.
The VFX are always incredible here, but the storytelling, scripting, and pacing has been getting stronger and stronger. Great job as always.

One of my friends used to live in a house that was rebuilt after everyone who lived there previously died in a huge housefire. He told me that one night he was woken up even though he's a deep sleeper and saw a transparent elderly man crawling out of his room. Being the curious person he is, he followed the man into the living room and realized that the room started to look smoky and saw ghostly flames. Then, the man stopped and everything vanished. He told me that a few days later, he looked up who used to live in that house, and found that one of the people was an elderly man who died in the living room from smoke inhalation.
This is now one of my favorites videos in the site. Very good job guys!

This could pioneer a new way of trauma therapy. I was in tears when finally overcome the old lady. Great game story that tied all three fears in a neat way, so that it has a positive or a “happy ending” scenario, which deeply helps letting go and grow out of your fears. Even though my custom VR therapy sim is far from reach, i do know now how to cope with my own problems in my imagination.
Seriously, Jordan has been the best edition to the crew since Peter, and now we have them in a video together, and its beautiful man.

Is it weird this made me emotional? In a way it reminded me of that scene in that one Marvel movie where Tony relives the traumatic moments through that crazy projection technology. This is the precursor to that technology.

I used to have recurring nightmares about a smothering evil that would always appear during a normal peaceful dream. Often when I'm exploring an old house or something. Then I spend the rest of the nightmare running and trying to wake myself up (usually I'm aware that I'm dreaming)
