I met Tom Hardy in Starbucks once, London. It was really busy, raining heavily out side so I decided, like many others, to just get my drink & something to eat to sit inside. Couldn't find a table or at least a table with a seat & I heard a voice say: 'Sit here mate, spare seat. I wouldn't go out in that neither.' I replied with, 'Are you sure? Thanks very much, I really appreciate it.' Yeah sure, no problem, make yourself comfortable, he said. It wasn't until I took my jacket off, sat down & realised it was him. We had a really nice chat and he was very, very curious about the guitar in it's case I had with me & he asked if he could have a look at it. Really nice guy, very charming, inquisitive, polite and just genuinely a down to earth guy. What are the chances of that happening, eh.
That's awesome! Gotta love Tom ❤️
Jackal Fox ou have lucky...i lime Tom in role James in Taboo
lucky. so lucky you are
Tom is increadible!!!!!!!!!!! You need to mention how smart he is. WOW
Urh! Your soo lucky! good to know he's a down to earth and nice guy.
Let this maniac be the next James Bond.
Playing James Bond is a Career Killer.
He should be a Bond Villian
Nah, Cillian Murphy as James Bond, and Tom Hardy as the villain
What about Villain hn
There are talks that he will be the next James Bond wow you predicted it
That stare is terrifying when hes waiting for the question
+Guitarot No, it's intense, not terrifying...
+Guitarot which part of the video?
+Olly McQuillan in the beginning
his stare is childish compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Death Stare.
+Guitarot For you !
I don't think I've ever seen Tom as open and comfortable in an interview setting as he is in this video, thanks to your talent and commitment as an interviewer.
Yeah he does not like to be interviewed. I think mainly because he doesn't like to be analysed for his answers or how his energy comes. Tom is very much a take it or leave it kind of guy.

@@adolflenin4973 so sorry.
Tom Hardy has had a hard year. First he was filming in the empty desert, then he filmed in the freezing arctic. What's next? The vacuum of space?
The revenant was filmed close to the city I live in. Calgary, Alberta. And parts were filmed in Vancouver. It's not even close to Arctic temperatures lol I'm sure they were fine.
Dustin Duczek
You mean this was filmed next to a ski resort!?
+My cup runneth over. - Psalm 23:5 he already filmed in space for star trek nemesis ;)
+My cup runneth over. - Psalm 23:5 Haha well not everywhere around here is right next to a ski resort. Well pretty close actually haha but yeah it was filmed all around here in Calgary and right outside of Calgary. I think some of it was in Canmore too if I'm not mistaken. But again, no where near arctic temperatures, I'm sure it wasn't that bad for them to film lol
Mad Max was shot in 2012. But in the film world yes he's had a bloody hard year!
His reaction to being called sexy was awesome. Adorable actor Tom Hardy is.
+John Hardin he knows he isssssss and always will be omg
+John Hardin When in the video is that?
+Kluberus at 14:27 haha it was a perfect reaction. He's like : Thanks I'm sexy and I know it lol
+Kluberus *sorry it's at 14:24
+John Hardin Im not really attracted to men but Tom Hardy is seriously my man crush.
His eyes are so intense.
This is how all interviews should be conducted, just a nice relaxed atmosphere for the interviewee and intelligent questions being asked about the movie - not being stuck in a stuffy room where a sea of annoying interviewers ask stupid questions and other intrusive stuff like asking ones sexuality etc.
Gina is a gelatinous strawberry.
+Crichjo32 Yeah I saw that where he just turned round and said "what the utter f..." Jesus, you get a chance to fire a question at this man and that's what you come out with??? smh
+Crichjo32 the problem is volume. How can you reach as many media outlets as possible to generate the most exposure and soundbites within the shortest amount of time, so that the marketing doesn't feel tired by the time the movie hits theaters?
Sometimes we gotta ask what problems do press junkets solve, and even though everyone (actors included) hate them, they're not going away anytime soon. But I agree, I love these long form interviews where actors can give these involved answers and interviewers are allowed to create a dialogue.
And yeah for the record this is one of the best interviews I've seen. Shame about the tinny audio
God i love this guy. He's real and pure which is rare in Hollywood. Stay true to yourself Tom and i'm looking forward to see you in The Revenant and Taboo.
Totally agree dude is real
+kate jones You are such a hippy
+P Maximus i. Gay for ypu
Amazing actor indeed
+kate jones Cause he lives at home and not in vapid LA.
One of the most genuinely decent, humble, intelligent and loveable people working in Hollywood today.
Couldn't be a bigger fan of Tom Hardy, what a cracking bloke!
+Thomas Brandon I totally second this bro!
Yup. The guy's a boss.
+Thomas Brandon He's actually a fucking psycho but sure
+Thomas Brandon - US audience NEED TO LEARN ACTORS ARE NOT ALL LIVING IN OR FROM USA HOLLYWOOD. Many are cross overs living in EUROPE & Britain or Asia
+klyana130 Yes, obviously. I'm from the UK myself bro, I'm well aware of how many actors / actresses are from outside the States.
I really don't understand the point you were trying to make..
Wtf is happening did he really survived a 16 min long interview alone. Thanks for the blessing
This is the epitome of a great interview, no egos just a real person having a chat with another person
This is one of the best Tom Hardy interviews I've seen. I've rarely seen him open up this much about filming.
Excellent, EXCELLENT interview! He is an unbelievable talent and I could honestly listen to him for hours.
If you haven't watched Taboo, you really must. Tom Hardy as James Delaney is absolutely SPECTACULAR.
Awwn 💝 thanks dear and nice to meet you 💝
New to Tom … need to check Taboo out and the rest. He was amazing in The Revenant
Just watched Taboo, brilliant moviemaking!
This interview made my heart happy. Tom is so happy and so talkative in this interview. Makes me happy!!
his description of fury road is so on point. You can tell this is a man who is proud of the work he's done and rightfully so
Thanks for this interview Anne! Tom's always very open in his interviews with you and you're really interested in his work and upcoming projects. Good questions, good answers. Mutual respect and trust...
That's the way every interview should be so authentic and casual, a real conversation.
I could listen to him talk for hours about something that he's passionate about
he's a talker and I LOVE it
I'm gon have to eat every fukin chicken in this room
he is PERFECT......one of the best actors in this world
I'm always amazed at how well actors can portray an accent, between him and Christian Bale they both have it on lock down
+JWitt30 I'm amazed as to how these actors can play such tough guys and then later on reveal that they like sucking dick on the side like Tom Hardy did.
+P Maximus Most of the fiercest Greek and Roman warriors who ever lived were predominantly gay, as an accepted part of their culture, so that's irrelevant.
+UltimateKyuubiFox Like the Sacred band of Thebes if i recall correctly
Accept batmans accent ...HA GOT EM !
+Rube Pena lol except 😶😋
I command you on the interview. You made him feel comfortable. Tom is usually bored during interviews and doesn't say much but you got him to open up and he seemed very much into whatever he was saying. Great job, the audio of course needs some serious work.
OK. I run an online blog, Thompson on Hollywood on Indiewire, and I do these admittedly amateurish flipcam videos intended to be one-on-one intimate interviews outside of the super-promotional TV junket setting. I'm a "print" editor/writer, and the idea is to create a comfortably informal vibe, to achieve something like a "real" conversation, if that's possible.
The ideal with this primitive camera's sound is to be as close as possible, with the camera equidistant between me and the subject. I should have closed the window. There's always a bit of a scramble (especially in this particular case) to get into a location, set up, and maximize the limited time for the interview. I sometimes succeed better than others. I ordered a sound mic for the Flip just when Cisco discontinued it. Why do I insist on using this outdated device? It's portable, I can put it in my purse with a little tripod, and I carry an adjustable camera mount. I don't want to schlep lights and fills and a lot of equipment to create this artificial atmosphere. I use natural light. I'm not a filmmaker. I want them to talk to me.
But I know I should improve. Suggestions anyone? A newer better portable simple point and shoot with sound?
+Anne Thompson use a mic for who you interview. Can barely hear him.
+Anne Thompson use better equipment - get a nice microphone for starters. GL
+Anne Thompson Thanks for the explanation and also of course the effort gone in giving us these interviews. I appreciate both.
+Anne Thompson yea whatever but your shit sucks, get better equipment if you really wanna get audiences
+Dayvidlun No one is begging you to watch it pal. I would much rather a low-budget intimate and intelligent interview than an expensively produced vacuous one. Keep it up Anne Thompson!
the best part about this is that for once, the actor is doing all the talking and revealing more about himself...a point most people have missed, and few interviewers have mastered.
Tom Hardy can keep on talking and talking, I loved when he kept talking when you were about to ask him a question and you were like, "Oh, keep going! Go ahead!" That, to me, shows the down to earth character Tom Hardy always has. It makes it feel like as if it was an actual conversation, because he was so deep into what he was saying it almost confused me LOL.
Great video, Anne!
Must be nice interviewing Tom Hardy in your living room.
+BebeLush2 The Four Seasons Hotel.
+Anne Thompson isn't it expensive to live there? :D
+Donald Pepe 20 mil a movie chum change
Derpington The2nd I meant for the interviewer, and you're high if you think Tom Hardy earns that.
Bronson, Legend, Lawless, lockce, The warrior, Bane in batman, peaky blinders, Taboo, The Ring this Man is one of the greatest actor's of his Generation.
Стюарт, Дубль!!!
Agreed 👍💯
I love that the interviewer did her research on Tom and actually seemed interested in finding out about Tom's work and acting roles and talking to him like a normal person unlike other interviewers who are more interested in meeting him as Tom the celebrity.
I like at 14:20 onwards at how humble he is when she's giving him compliments and yes Tom you know you're sexy lol
Two of my favorite actors in the same movie , I also like Leonardo DiCaprio in Catch Me If You Can and Tom Hardy in Warrior and also the Drop , great movie
Actually Tom Hardy deserved Nomination for his role.Role played by Di Caprio is not that demanding as role Hardy plays,he did it brilliantly, with all complexity his role offers...
I dont think it was more demanding, but he was as good.
Tom was the best actor in this movie.
Leo was phenomenal as well. both had terrific performances, in my opinion.
Well to be fair hits throat was ripped apart a bit. He got some good silent characterization before it. The actual guy was pretty quie as well.
They both pulled off incredible performances in this film, but Leo had what felt like 3 lines, so his performance was comprised of mostly physical acting. Tom Hardy was terrific in this though, I think he deserves more recognition than he's getting
+MrGameFan Leo's character was driven by ancient primal instinct to survive, he ceased to have a personality for some time. At least, that's how I watched it.
+Jaimee Marshall
I agree and don't know what the fuss is about Leo and an Oscar?? No way. I haven't liked Leo in much except "The Departed". He is competent but, I don't think he has that much range and like so many Hollywood actors I predict we will never see Leo play an unlikable character nor an actual villain-ever. Tom Hardy is a braver actor. Period. Leo hasn't even tried a comedy for heaven's sake.
Oh boy. He's spectacular in every way. Great interview.
He is just terrific - superb actor and a truly handsome man (fully straight guy saying this) I love you, Tom!
👍👍👍👍👍🔥👏👏👏👏
I had never seen an interview by you but Tom is always kind of shy and sometimes he comes out a little defensive, not trying to be rude of course, but I'm really impressed by how comfortable he seems talking to you, you did a great job. Plus, Tom Hardy on close up? you can almost get a look right in the eye, I freaking melted haha. Great questions and interview, I'll take a peek at the channel often.
well he has a really dark past and sometimes the media tries to break him, just like they do to Keanu reeves and RDJ....
He’s gorgeous! Wow!
I think this guy is one of the best working actors in the business. I don't know anything about him but his commitment to his characters is rarely seen. He must be a tortured soul. God bless him
+D De .. Doesn't seem tortured at all. Obviously those sucessful in acting don't view it as some ordinary person would view an ordinary job.. He's no where near a tortured soul.
@@Adm.b80
Don't assume you know him.
No single fan knows his inner life, which he can hide well as an actor.
@@encouraginglegacyWhat did you mean?
@@encouraginglegacyDo you know his inner life to claim this?
It's fascinating to watch him speak. He's so intense...his brains work so fast. Great questions and so a great interview!
Get yourself a proper audio recorder, Anne.
+Ben Katzazz You can hear what he's saying well enough if you listen carefully - but notice how her voice is louder than the subject's? If this interview was done for a print publication and the video shot just so she could personally cite it for accuracy or something, then hey, no big deal; but if it were me interviewing A-list celebrities, I'd invest a few bucks into some lapel microphones. A more portable and less cumbersome option would be a Zoom H4N or something.
***** "However a good audio recorder placed closer to Tom would have made it better."
That's all I'm saying. Thanks for letting off some of that steam though, Bennett. ;)
Yes, Lapel mics stink. She simply needs to buy a digital recorder like the one I mentioned and slap it down on the table. Combine that with cell phone footage and you're off to the races. People will happily watch shitty video with amazing sound, but amazing video with shitty sound is still...well, shitty.
+johnnytastetest
Suggestion: www.rode.com/microphones/videomicpro
+johnnytastetest I totally agree with you. You don't even need to put a mic on him, just a directional shotgun mic on top of the camera would to a perfectly fine job and costs around 200 bucks. Good audio quality makes a HUGE difference
+Niggoification Yeah, I own the Rode shotgun mic. That's all she'd need I was pitching the Zoom H4N (or a comparable model), 'cause all she'd have to do is press record and chuck the thing on a nearby table. It'll pick up everything (so it'd be excellent for interviewing more than one person too) in a hotel room like this, and on numerous tracks, which can be leveled easily after the fact, piece of cake.
He truly loves Taboo, and his father. It shows.
One of the best performances by an actor that I've ever seen. he deserves the Oscar.
Best Hardy interview I've ever seen. Great job.
I'm over the moon today!! Tom received his first and well deserved Oscar nomination...CONGRATS TOMMY!
When Leonardo DiCaprio is impressed with another man's brilliance; you know Tom Hardy is beyond exceptional at his craft.
What is it with all these weird home interviews lately? So many of them. Nothing wrong with them though.
Are they just chillin at their own home and the journalists can come by?
Thats because they will have sex at her home ;)
+xownager gaming We're at the usual junket location in LA; the Four Seasons Hotel.
+xownager gaming ... Lol, you donut! ... +Anne Thompson ... I want to commend you on your interviewing skills. You asked genuinely interesting questions, and then actually listened to the responses given, as shown with your follow-up. Something not all of your contemporaries seem to manage. This interview reflects more like, a natural-flowing conversation, than the usual corporate, junket/interrogation scene. So congrats! :)
+M4TRIXed DP/30 does them effortlessly. Seems there are a lot of copycats out there
+Anne Thompson smart interview. but get a better mic. so hard to hear, and the background noise. thanks again for the post
His most unrecognisable role alongside "Stuart: A Life Backwards".
I frequently get the impression when watching actors who are being interviewed that they're working, there's an obvious pretense at being polite. Its like the effort involved in promoting a film is just a part of their job and interviews are a necessary evil. Not so with this interview; TH didn't put on any airs, he was comfortable, relaxed, involved and seemed like he was really interested to be taking about the film.
im sure it depends on their mood on the day, their energy levels, their individual temperament and on the interviewer and the types of questions..... just as it would be for most people in most jobs... good day good mood bad coworker bad mood
When they sign on to be in a film they're also contractually obligated to do interviews to promote the film
+if6was929
Ditto. It is so refreshing. I have watched every single interview he has given and he is so candid and open. Positively vulnerable at times. Zero bullshit and such an active listener. No pretense and can laugh at himself too.
+Gray Fox
Sometimes, but De Niro, Nicholson, Hoffman and Kidman etc... don't do the talk show circuit nor the usual press junkets. Norton hated "The Hulk" and refused to promote it. I have never seen an interview with Harrison Ford to promote any film...except Star Wars last year...
One of the best actor of all time. His acting is unique. All of his character he played in Mad max, revenant, dark night,,,,,,, is extraordinary.
I have a man crush on Tom Hardy. Should I be worried?
everyone has a crush on him
TheMovieJoker it depends if you a girl or a boy
No. It’s Tom Hardy.
YouuuUUUU remind me of myyyy fatherrrrrr!!!
TheMovieJoker no, his character in the revenant is something we can all relate to as men, we all have this cold spot, lol.
Tom hardy is my favorite actor total respect to him he is amazing in every movie he does keep on making great films Tom your a fantastic actor
This dude should of won an Oscar for his performance. One of the best I’ve seen.
Brilliant interview with Tom Hardy. He really seemed to open up to you. Great interview thank you.x
The last bit of handing something over.
He's so fucking humble and legendary. Complete gentlemen and badass. I totally understand what he's saying too.
I'm just astounded at Tom Hardy; he's gotta be one of the best of this generation, the way he changes for each role. I listen to him speak here, and the gap between him and his character Fitzgerald is just so massive, it's unimaginable that Hardy embodied that absolutely terrifying character so well. He's already done so many great things, but I hope he hasn't peaked yet; I look forward to seeing where he's going.
Oh Tom I love hearing your voice and seeing you on my telly such a good man that started from the bottom...🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
How do u get Hardy to chat so openly? Superb!, he is a real actor, one of the best I’ve witnessed,up there with Hollywood’s all time best! Ty for this , not amateur at all, just Raw! Love it!
Seriously,in Legend,it actually feels like two different actors are playing the twins. But all you need to do to see true range in an actor is watch The Drop and The Revenant back to back.
Лок, бронсон, дубль
Lock, Bronson, the Take👍👍👍👍👍👍
Just saw the Revenant - he is 100% able to get the Oscar for the movie
True. Everybody is talking about Di Caprio, but Hardy's performance was as good, if not better
+666weena Hardy was a supporting actor. He could not have carried the movie the way Leo did. Especially while not being able to talk.
100% wrong
Great job with this interview, Anne. I just stumbled upon this channel but I wish I did so sooner. These feel way more natural and free-flowing than many other interviews.
dicaprio & hardy are the 2 greatest actors of this generation
Hardy and Nolan unite again in 2017, Dunkirk will be epic!
i've learnt more about film and the direction than in any television interview.
Hello friend how are you doing is me tom hardy⚘⚘I love your comment. Nice to meet you❤💋
I didnt even recognize him on the movie he should get the Oscar
ikr I only realised it was him 1 hour after lol
+caz Me too lol. That's how you know he's a good actor
These newer interviews with famous actors in their living rooms are weird, but also awesome because they feel so natural. Its not the typical half dozen cliche questions and one sentence robot answers. Its like a real conversation where they listen and respond to each other. I actually learned about the making of the movie because of it so thank you!
PS I think you should upgrade your mic. I had to turn my speakers all the way up and his voice was still washed out by background noise.
I'm a logistics specialist. I would love to be on set just to meet everyone...that would be amazing in itself
I've think Tom Hardy is amazing, and look for more to come
Awwn 💝 thanks dear 😘 and for your support and love 💕 nice to meet you 💝 here is my hangout gmail thomashardy464@gmail.com you can chat me up pravite there or you can send yours for me 💕
Nice to see his intelligence to shine out in this conversation ))
I think Hardy deserves the Oscar nomination, he was really credible, and "drowned" full role. I am surprised that the Golden Globe not given even nominations.
But it's just a trophy, Hardy has shown how brilliant he is, it is a pleasure to follow his career.
Tom king of acting!!! Tom is a great actor. Now and always!!!❤
That was an amazing interview! I just admire his passion!
What a great interview, giving Tom time to expand on his answers and relax, as much as is possible in the setting. The 5 minute junket interviews don't even scratch the surface but I really enjoyed this. Keep up the good work Anne.
Tom hardy is one of the best working actors working today in my opinion he is absolutley brilliant i wish i could meet him
Awesome!! this was a great interview. Love the single camera angle :) thanks
Wow! Great interview. He’s such an amazing actor with incredible range, wit and definitely easy on the eyes. Seems so down to earth. You did a wonderful job interviewing him!
Taboo is AWESOME! Tom is great in it.
I love your interviews. They are always so intimate.
Hardy's endlessly fascinating! Initially guarded (understandable), but once he gets comfortable, he's opens up and becomes a considered, eloquent person.
His voice reminds me of Andy Serkis somewhat as well.
I wish he gets recognition for his talent and his brilliant performances
but he doesn't care like other actors do so,I don't know...
I'm looking forward to his new projects
Dang, he didnt like the process that much with Chivo and Inaurritu. What an OG.
Great interview! Thanks for posting!
sound a bit quiet but great interview. Seems very natural and there is always an edge that he could turn at anytime! Nice work.
Wow was a great interview.. hands down great journalism.
That man is just so gorgeous, sweet, adorable, genuine and down to earth (and sexy aswell of course)! 🙌🏻💞 Interviews like this are my favorite seriously! Thank you! 😄😙
Hey u didn't once mention his brilliant acting ???
Calm down simp.
This "amateurish" interview style, as you called it... works for me. It feels very natural! I like when an actor gives an interview that feels conversational...good stuff.
Quite the talented individual. Thank you for the interview!
He did an amazing job at this character, enjoyed him better than Leo!
I hated his character, so this shows wat a great actor Tom is
Can’t say who’s better lol they both had wayyyy different characters to portrait
Ladies and gentlemen...the next James Bond!
Hope so! One more Craig movie them Hardy should take up the Walther
+Beast Mode i think he is too talented for bond, but i'm sure he'll be the best one :)
sarat10m s too talented? :/
+sarat10m s agreed...he is way above that formulaic shallow franchise. he doesnt need bond.
Pete you insane? Casino Royale is considered one of the greatest action movies of all time and Skyfall recieved extremely high critical acclaim. No actor is above playing Bond. Bond will be around longer than any actor.
Kudos! This was a great interview. To hell with those who complained about the sound. Their eardrums are probably ruptured from watching too many Fast and Furious movies.
cool interview!
looked like he enjoyed it; you're a gracious interviewer & a good listener :)
thanks for this, he's one of my favorite actors
i frankly thought Tom deserves an Oscar. His acting was brutally good !
THIS WAS A SUPERB INTERVIEW. It catches Tom's personality and intellect so well! It reminds me of the one on ones with Marlon Brando, who I'm matching Tom Hardy with to be a future remembered epic actor. Tom is not as insular and quirky as Marlon but something seems Classic old school acting film genius about Tom Hardy.
eta later.....depressed now Tom is caught up in comicbook hero villain shyt. He should get a in more eclectic art movies again, get a part in next Dune movies
Taboo is awesome and so worth checking out :)
I loved him in "TheWarrior" it's like Rocky on steroids! The Drop is my favorite movie Tom Hardy is in. He held back from kicking ass until the very ends then he gets people back and you eat it up! He was amazing to hate in The Revenant no one could have played that part better nobody I hope he gets an oscar, please movie people give it to him! Can't wait to see Tom in more movies! I'm a big fan!
Jeff Arnold The Drop is very, very underrated. Love that movie
Wicked film, have watched it may times. Brilliant actors Brilliant storyline and the back drop amazing. Even the haunting soundtrack. One if not my favourite film. It's pure art.
Great interview. Thanks Anne, Tom.
he picks perfect roles, great scripts. bronson rocked, i know mad max was mainstream but my childhood self loved it and I do hope they do some follow ups with mad max.
First time watching one of your interviews. Very in depth questions for one of my favorite cats in the industry at the moment. I shall now subscribe to your channel and binge-watch the other videos. :0) Thanks to you and you team.
Tom is wonderful.. I'm ready to see Legend and The Revenant.
14:23
Good interview, thanks. Really adds to my understanding of the movie and the process of creating it. Found particularly interesting his remarks on Innaritu's notion of the Fitzgerald character and Hardy's need to take ownership of it if the performance is to be effective. I've done a fair share of theatre and this is classic push-pull dynamic between director and actor.
great interview Anne. The questions were very creative. Kudos
He is so intelligent and interesting and genuine. I just love this man and everything he does. Thanks for the interview.
Awwn 💝 thanks dear and for your support 💕 and love nice to meet you 💝 here is my hangout gmail thomashardy464@gmail.com you can chat me up pravite there or you can send yours for me 💕
