Thanks for watching! Salvaging parts from thrift store finds seems like a popular thing, especially among those looking for old desirable parts that are no longer in production. The treasure hunt aspect makes it a lot of fun!
Years ago when I was getting back into electronics I use to hit up fleamarkets, thrift stores and even grabbed electronics from the trash and stripped them down for parts. Don't just keep an eye out for the ICs but keep an eye out for Transistors as well. A lot of transistors aren't made anymore like the SK Germanium series. Another way to find some parts is buying electronic parts mystery boxes. For 10 to 20 bucks you can stock up on a bunch of passive parts and at times find some hard to find parts. You can even toss the parts you don't want back on eBay or whatever to get some money back. I've done that a couple of times, bought a 10 dollar box then take what I wanted and put it back up on eBay for 5 bucks.
What other stuff should i look for what about old computers or like old Tvs and vhs and dvd players what about printers and stuff lr speakers god i love salvaging parts i really do have sny recommendations
Thanks for watching! If you're looking for analog bucket brigade chips, they were mostly used in audio related devices that have an "echo/chorus/delay" type function. But, aside from that, anything will have salvageable chips, diodes and whatnot, as long as it was built with through hole components.
One of my favourite hobbies :)
Thanks for watching! Yes, salvaging thrift stores is a lot of fun! 😄
Excellent idea to salvage old stuff
Thanks again! Yes, salvaging parts is a lot of fun, but it's also great because you can fine some rare obsolete stuff!
Amazing videos!! You deserve more recognition for this content

Interesting, I was just getting into building pedals and thought my "find crap to scavenge form thrift stores" idea was unique.

Hi, thanks for watching! Yes, Definitely! I'm trying to collect all the different 4558 variants by Japanese companies and eventually do a shootout.
