Maybe the stuff is not always passed off, rather its owner possibly falls ill or dies. Sometimes people just don't have space to hold onto a dead relative's belongings... all kinds of scenarios but in any event, thrift stores are full of treasures. 😄
As a Goodwill employee of over 12 years,I’ve seen some really awesome items come through that were donated by families of recently passed. As you said, they don’t want to deal with it or don’t know or care what the items are.
I am glad to hear another "found a Picasso at a garage sale" s tory. It has happened to me as well, but "more the exception than the rule". Yet I will continue "junking" and digging through the dusty parts of the shops.
Same kind of story: Simply walking down a thrift store's stairs and looked over at 2 small framed pieces that looked to me French. I paid $2 for both. Got home and analyzed them. They are original Joan Miro from Barcelona, Spain. Valued $8,000+ and they are only 4x6" each.
Before you mentioned where the scene of the painting was, I thought to my self it looks a lot like the Cayman Islands. We scuba dive there. That would not leave my house! I’ve not heard of the artist but the scene is gorgeous!
Incredible find!! Beautiful piece. I don’t blame you for keeping it. I would eventually like to start an art collection as well! Great eye and I love how you emailed the artist directly.
Ours is getting up there. Shoes used to be $7 now the average is $14. I’ve had to adjust and expand my knowledge and try to find value in just about every section of the store. Makes it a little more fun though :). Thanks for watching!!!
Awesome!! Thanks for coming by, really appreciate it. YES! My wife and I have several pieces of art that came from Goodwill. It amazes me what people put in the donate Pile :)
@@RedDirtPicker I feel like a lot of things get donated by younger relatives who have no idea or interest in them when they are cleaning out an estate. I can’t wait to check out your other vids. I have a couple videos where I show off my big ticket thrifted items in my house too. 😊👍
I know right? We love it. My wife and I want to take a trip to the Caymans to visit John and his Studio. He was very gracious to connect with me and spent the time to chat and discuss his painting.
Yeah, the water dispenser with the RED add water is a warning light. So I wouldn't keep testing it to show that the warning light shows that is operating. It's like starting your car without antifreeze coolant and the red light warning you of overheating is displayed on your dash. Warning lights have a purpose. Also same as a sink garbage disposal, if you don't use it with running water, the unit will overheat and burn out.
Hey Dani! Appreciate you checking up :). I took a long break due to some family health issues but hoping to get back on track here soon :). How are you?
@@RedDirtPicker what’s funny is that I had this video saved for years and found it today! Praying and sending y’all love. I’m ok. Working on my hours. When you come back, let me know. Would love to have you on for 20 questions 💕
Great find on the water dispenser! I'm going to have to pay more attention to paintings! That is amazing! I'd be flipping it at an art auction! I'm new here and look forward to more content. I hope you have a great day!
Thanks for the lessons. People donate because they don’t know what it’s worth. I go to thrift stores, but do t know how to identify the “good stuff”. I am going to be looking for a j Clark painting!
I found a thrift painting, similar ones on the artist's website sell for nearly $10,000, but I'm kinda clueless how to sell it! Can you give me any advice? Should I go to art dealers/auctions? I have no idea.
Great find!! I would definitely connect with a dealer with one if that value. They will take a hefty percentage but do all the work in finding the right buyer!! Keep on pickin’!!!
I just found a Sub Zero under cabinet ice maker for $75. I want to build a cedar patio party bar around it. My wife wants me to dump it... so I can list more of her items 🤔
I love it too!! Most of the bigger pieces I keep in my collection. We have 6 pieces on our walls that (thankfully) keep increasing in value. That’s that smartest thing to do in my opinion. If it’s a curated piece the more likely they are to go up in value. I found a guy at one of my local art galleries and he has been extremely helpful letting me know what pieces are valuable. That is probably the first place I would suggest you start. Have fun and thanks for watching!!
Nice! My wife and I have a couple different artists we like. John Clark is a new one for us but we really like his style. I am now addicted to looking for art at the thrift lol

i dont know how ppl hasnt seen your viedos and caught on to where you are buying your items at your selling and by the way making a huge profit on.. i mean seriously they will soon enough
Some people have :), hopefully I can keep them a secret for a little longer. I have found a few new little honey holes that I haven’t put on video yet.
Crazy. I found a bronze sculpture. Seen the nane emailed the artist, and he also responded, confirming it was his later work. K didn't have the guts to ask for a price 😂 so i have it on my shelf.
Very Cool! I have had a great experience with him. He was very generous with his time speaking with me about the painting. He was also very surprised I found it and really enjoyed the story :)
I'm sorry but this is total nonsense. There is no way on earth that this watercolor painting is worth $7000. I have serious doubts that it is even worth $700. Almost no one pays as much as $300 for a watercolor. And I do not believe this artist is in the pricey category described here. Do galleries attempt to get unrealistically high prices for art? Of course they do.
Galleries giving an estimate is just that. Realized price is the only real source of value. 9/10 this would be passed in an auction. I would be surprised if the realized price was anywhere near the estimated price of $7k.
