I was just watching an episode of Forensic Files, where a woman in Cleveland Ohio, stabbed another woman to death 20yrs prior, and she was caught thanks to a bloody finger print she left behind. Every year on the victim’s birthday the mother called the Detective in charge of her case, it took a female detective to find her murderer. That detective said “it’s always settling for me to solve a cold case, and forensic science will only continue to help us solve the crimes of cold cases. We won’t stop until they are caught and put away. There is even more gratification when they have thought they got away with murder after 20 years”

Killers are often arrogant narcissists with psychopathic tendencies - as such, they think they're smarter than the rest of us, have no insight, lack true compassion, and believe that in life, it's their way or the highway.
Meanwhile (in their arrogance...), they make mistakes (attempting to cover up their tracks...) that anyone with half a brain would never commit.
The scariest part is the fact that a narcissistic psychopath has the capacity to live a normal everyday life, while walking around in total freedom amongst the rest of us.
If in their minds they're "pushed too far" (a simple "No" is enough...), they turn into Pure Evil on steroids.
