  • In 1999, two years after a missing persons investigation is launched, skeletal remains are uncovered in the woods. Detectives look to the garbage can the remains were found in and analyse the knot work to identify the killer still at large. Elsewhere, a senseless murder leaves hotel staff shocked.
The New Detectives is a documentary true crime show that features reenactments of events surrounding a murder and follows police departments as they solve cases using forensic science.

The fact that the chemicals were from the janitors cupboard should have alerted the police to a disgruntled ex-employee at the start

I use a bowline all the time to secure loads. It's as good as a ratchet strap. You don't need to be a military expert to know this. Lol

The cord was the link, not the knot. The knot helped, though - most civilians don't know how to tie a knot like that.

    • @gtcazusa

" 'it appeared there was a bowline type knot' - that indicated that the killer was professionally trained." "obviously the person that rigged this had an extensive military background - and I thought that they were either currently serving in the special operations community or served in them prior and were out".
And my point was that this is a weird thing to say about the "king of knots" which is the probably the most common knot in the world, certainly on boats and ships. I don't think you'd classify every boy scout in existence, tying the knot they probably learned first of all - as "professionally trained".

Case 2: This is exactly what they teach you in every service industry. You are not to confront, react, respond, or retaliate with a thief or a robber. Just note down their identity and just save your own a$$.
She never had to fight for that $500, which cost her life in the most brutal way.
Also, this has been happening all around the world, single woman in a shift working alone dealing with cash, is a big no no. There are just so many crime stories about lonely working employees dealing with cash.

I used to work front desk, in the off season we would work alone a lot. I hated it, we were right off a busy freeway off ramp. I also worked in a small town gas station for awhile and that wasn't fun either. I know of cases in Utah where I grew up they found bodies in the desert not far from where I lived. One was a young mother who had been working at 7-11 in SLC.😢

I worked for the NAVY EXCHANGE. (NEX) I worked a gas station, alone, I had to make up the bags for the next day, do all the closing paperwork, shut down propane, dump coffee, set the security alarm etc. all alone.
The Military cops were supposed to come up from the main base in Everett, WA but they never did. We had to do it alone sometimes. More than once I had a trusted customer wait for me after I closed and they made sure I was safe and got over to the main building with the money and the keys. Our customers were awesome. Then the Commanding Officer of the base decided to close the gas station.😢

  • @lisagreenway8410

Wow the special forces guy was dumb enough to use an army knot!, he obviously never thought she would be found, so for all his training he made the ultimate mistake!…..his poor wife and her family not knowing for years what was wrong and to think of her sister hadn’t insisted she probably wouldn’t have been looked for to this day. I hope he rots in hell for what he did!,
As for the second guy, I know it was probably a split second decision but that makes him no less of a killer than anyone else. He made that decision and then for her friend to see her and her mom to find her, I can imagine that they both would be haunted by the last image of their loved ones.
I am just so glad that both killers were caught and sent down and as the saying goes “if you can do the crime then you can do the time”. Karma at its best!.

Army guys are trained to use their brawn not so much their brains. When I was Air Force we did all the technical work when deployed and the Army guys did all the physical work. I felt bad for them because they were treated badly too. Yelled at,worked long, and limited personal time. It doesn’t surprise me that this guy wasn’t real bright to cover up his crime. He was trained to kill.

Obviously(?) that small piece of "identical cord" found in a bush by their former home - three years later, was conveniently planted!! Someone probably finally said, "Enough is enough! We've worked long enough on this case!" Just amazing, how much time, energy & taxpayer's money the police poured into that particular missing persons case, after her sister hadn't heard from her for a couple of months. This really made me wonder, what kind of political influence the abusive woman's sister might've wielded. We all hope our law enforcement people care & make every effort on our behalf when a loved one has been out of touch. But, there's past tense & there's present tense. Maybe, it was the thoroughness of the video program that makes the investigation appear excessive. Maybe, there wasn't much else going on in that town during that time? Or, perhaps, this is one of the few police departments that actually investigates their cases thoroughly, even if it take years.

    • @laura121684
      @laura121684 Месяц назад +2

A lot of police departments not only investigate their missing persons cases thoroughly, but also regularly revisit cold cases as well. It's only the departments that don't who make big headlines, so it seems like it's a much bigger problem than it is.
