    Im still working with fusion 360 and its absolutely fantastic. Kevin was my tutor and then I just went ahead and prodded and pushed here and there. Tested this and messed with that. Truly an unbelievable package. Yesterday I just couldn't do something and then when I woke up I had an idea. Jumped on it again and BAMM, there she was.
    Kevin you ROCK !!!!!!

      Hi, James. Glad to hear that! It has been very rewarding to see how much progress you have made over the last couple months. You've put in a lot of work and time to learn Fusion 360 and it is really starting to show. Keep at it. Cheers, Kevin :)

      Hi, Jonathan. Glad to hear that. I agree with you - a lot of the demo tutorials that Autodesk provide are setup to the point where you don't really have the opportunity to think about how to apply it to other projects. Hopefully these examples will help everyone implement them into their own workflows. Cheers, Kevin :)

      Hi, Sangeeth. You will simply need to define all the points of the bicycle that have connection points to other objects (wheel, seat, handlebar, etc). Then, I would recommend making the wheels so you can set them as objects to avoid (Obstacle Geometry).

      Hi, Marcus. The free generative design was only released to the Autodesk Partner schools with the education account, the commercial licenses, and the (newer) Personal Use license. From what I've heard, it is supposed to be available to all education accounts in 2020. In the meantime, I would recommend you sign up for a new Personal Use account using a different email - productdesignonline.com/tips-and-tricks/how-to-download-and-install-the-fusion-360-personal-use-license/

    Heres a question though. Ok so I am doing the fusion design stuff and know I can get parts on screen. Only say I have finished a design and there is maybe a motor housing with interlocking parts. How then do I get gcode and the printer to print each individual part. I know nothing about the cam feature. Do you have a resource for videos on this topic or a direction for me to go to get the knowledge?

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  4 года назад

      Hi, James. Are you trying to 3D Print the part or cut it on a CNC? You say print, which makes me think 3D Print. If that's the case, you can select the "Tools" tab (while in Design Workspace) > Make dropdown > 3D Print. Then, you select the components or bodies that you want to export as an STL file. You would then need to put that in your printer's slicing software (I use Ultimaker's Cura, which is free). Cheers, Kevin :)

    • @jamesbarratt593
      @jamesbarratt593 4 года назад +1

      I said print yep, but thats the outer body which is just going to be a carbon skin. The inner parts are gonna be routed on a 4 axis cnc I am building. Aluminium is my choice of material. I can weld it see. Have a £3000 top notch welder for it. So nothing should be holding me back in that and its also light but strong. Gears and stuff I am buying already made for other machines and just working my design to incorporate them. So some stuff print and some through cam software is all I know whatever that means. Cams in fusion is it not?

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  4 года назад

      @@jamesbarratt593 Ah gotcha. That makes more sense. Yes, for the parts you want to CAM you can take the model into the "Manufacture Workspace" (formerly the CAM workspace if you see CAM in any tutorials). All of your tool paths and Gcode can be set up right in Fusion 360. I don't have any videos on the CAM functionality at the moment...but will likely do some at some point. Cheers, Kevin :)

      @@ProductDesignOnline Ok so 2 solid days on this model and she looks real sweet. So sweet in fact that I want to grab her and rip her out of the screen and start playing with her. Its the lower half of a reciprocating mechanism. Anyway, so heres my feed back. Also I found something else cool. If you create a cylinder and give it the chrome effect, then zoom into the chrome as far as you can, you find yourself in a warehouse. Like as if you are just peeking through into it from another dimension. Trust me. Go do it. Whats the warehouse. Have I found a secret.

      @@ProductDesignOnline So the feedback. OK, if you create an off set plane and once you have worked on it, then when you try to orbit with space and centre button down of mouse, its really horrible. Like you feel its not freely giving you the same orbit as before the plane was created. I wonder why that is. Obviously I need to jump back out of the plane, but how because I lick on the plane in construction then right click for delete and nope. Nothing happens. Also if you look across as something recessed that you created in the other plane, you can't click on the bottom section. The area is whiteish grey. Again wanting me to exit the plane I am in. Bloody annoying. Counted 11 times yesterday the screen flipped on me too. About that for today as well. What moron coded that into it. Oh yeah we will flip the model 180 for them. madness

    Hi Kevin!
    should I make another account to use GE?

    • @ProductDesignOnline
      @ProductDesignOnline  4 года назад

      Hi, MAKER HOME. Remind me, are you on the old startup/hobbyists license or the education license?
      If you're on the old startup/hobbyist license then you should receive a banner when you open up F360 stating that you can switch your license to the new Personal Use" license type. Following that procedure will automatically switch your license and all your files will come with it (you won't see much of a change).
      If you're on an education license then GE is only available to the "200 Autodesk Partner Schools". From what I hear, all education licenses will receive GE in the new year, 2020. With that said, to take advantage of the free GE until the end of the year you could simply sign up for a new Personal Use license by creating a second Autodesk account (with a different email than your current account).
      More on the Personal Use license here - productdesignonline.com/tips-and-tricks/how-to-download-and-install-the-fusion-360-personal-use-license/

      Hi, Chris. Are you wanting to transfer your Student (Education) license to a Personal Use license? As in, have all of your files transferred over with it? If that's the case, then the only way to do so is to have someone at Autodesk transfer your account. I would suggest posting on the support forum (usually they get to it quicker that way) - forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360/ct-p/1234
      The Autodesk account system is whacky and it seems that people often get stuck when trying to sign up for the Personal Use license when their email is tied to an existing license type.
      In the meantime, you could always sign up for a second Autodesk account to enroll in the Personal Use license. You will just have to use a different email than what your current account uses.
      Cheers, Kevin :)
