The fact that the dad still tried to blame them even afterwards despite the fact that they didn't even need to go out of their way to warn him, especially the mom, tells you all you need to know about him. Enjoy.

Are you all actually taking a story like this at face value? How would two kids be able to "mismanage company funds" to such an extend the guy would go bancrupt? How would he not notice the people under his roof spending egregious amounts of money? Story is fake

I have no idea why some of the reddit comments actually told OP that he should've "tried harder to convince his dad", as if that was still his responsibility. Dad got 2 warnings: 1 from ex-wife and 1 from his son. But he didn't listen to any of them, and now he has to suffer the consequences.

    • @mannydcbianco

The evidence he was given was overwhelming too, but he refused to look at it or acknowledge it. But reddit will be reddit, there will always be the toxic "bUt fAmiLy" morons who never think you should hold family accountable for anything. They're the same people who would protect a family member who is a r-pist or a murderer rather than doing the right thing and turn him or her in. Coincidentally the people who cry "bUt fAmiLy" are usually the ones who keep effing up and expects family to always be there to forgive them and help them.

It annoys me that OP's dad actually tried to blame OP for "not doing enough to warn him" -- he made it quite clear he didn't want to hear anymore. The man was never going to look at the evidence, and was set on the results that came about. OP's dad may not want to accept responsibility for it, but he completely owns his current predicament.

An uncle of mine was married for at least 20 years to his wife (i didn't knew her well) he treated like trash and when she died because of an illness, he got with another woman suspiciously quickly.
His ex wife didn't Care about uncle's money (he's very well off) however New wife is sucking him dry and he don't even notice it because of how badly he love her.
Uncle isn't a nice Guy, my mom once asked him if he was willing to help to pay for a small monument to my grandfather and he refused also when grandpa died, uncle was the first to rush to his appartment and take Everything that wasn't nailed down.
As i said before his New wife is sucking him dry and it couldnt happen to a more deserving guy

From the story op's mom seems to be a non-nonsense kind of woman and dad is spoiled rich boy. What surprised me how why they hooked up since they're two clashing personalities. The new wife is a manipulative woman who know how to do things to lift his bloated ego (probably agreeing with him, giving praises and sex). Also I don't believe her when she said she wants her kids to reform. She knew her scammer children bring money to the table and she doesn't give af where that money came from

hmmm reconciling seems also unfair given that that, and his ability to see the errors of how he treated op and mom wont EVER be possible if he never experienced life shattering events like his step children plunging him on the ground.
he wasnt a reliable emotional support(much less a parent) to op, and now that his' are done and gone, he hopes to have a familial connection after he neglected op that privilege all throughout his life so he can have an emotional safety net to fall back on? to trouble his former family to play a role in his miserable life AGAIN when shit hit his fan?
i wont judge op if wants to, thats admirable. but i give big side eyes to ah sperm donor and the situation he brought himself in.
though i would give sd credit and respect if he sort his shit out without involving his former family in ANY capacity, and then return to start his reconciliation journey with op and mom.
the issue is if reconciliation is possible, op and mom shouldnt exert any effort until sd is abled enough, that should fall on sd alone considering he wasnt keen on any fatherly role before and was even vocal about it. fix his shit until he deems himself worthy to start
