I remember a time when Akazamzarak could "win" solo without playing minions.
That one was busted. Everyone insta picked Akazam.
What was the strat back then?
@@Gaban_Akazamzarak's secret pool used to be limited to 7 secrets, one of which was ice block. You could then discover 4 minion based secrets on an empty board and guarantee ice block every turn. This technically didn't win the game but it stalled it out until some one caved.

I can definitely imagine this is what Pro BG Duos would look like. As it is just way more efficient to focus both players on making one guys board the absolute nuts than having you both splitting and ending up with 2 boards that aren't nearly as strong. You have 1 player as the carry and the other just funneling them resources.
What I've seen is basically 1 goes carry and the weaker one swaps into full scam late game

I came back to Hearthstone yesterday after like a 3 month break. Saw they made a new mode and tried it out. I love it! I actually sort of quit Hearthstone in January but this mode is making me want to keep playing the game again.

I've loved duos so far. There's some bugs that really really need to be fixed, but it's very fun despite that. Me and my friend have been playing BGs since it came out and always wondered if this woul be a thing. Since it came out we've played so much. It's challenging, but it's more fun because of that imo. I love seeing the crazy combos that can be made with heroes. We had a lobby yesterday with a total of 9 N'zoth Fish because they had Nzoth and Faceless on one team (2 fish), a tess who stole both their fish repeatedly (6 by the end), and a rafaam who also stole one. It was insane and so fun to watch.

My husband and I love duos! We loved normal battlegrounds but it always sucked when one of us got knocked out and had to wait 20mins for the next game.

I play TFT Co-op A LOT. Usually with a duo partner I know irl.
She never knew about TFT and I taught her the works and the ways.
Every season we end up Plat-Diamond and it's actually a load of fun.
*(But of course, being on the TFT team.. I might have some bias hahah)*
I like duos personally. I dont have friends, so its fun to have this random person paired up with me and trying desperatrly to communicate with them on a time limit. Even when mistakes happen, there's something inherently fun about that concept
I also feel like some of the minion changes and such are great too. I like how they didn't just use the exact sake minion pools and expect people to play on a team, they added a lot to the game that makes it feel like a unique experience.
I had this exact Quillboar board earlier today with one change, a second of the 4/6 divine shield instead of the one that hits adjacent minions. It is disgustingly op

I love Duos. Surprised how much I like it. So much so I haven't played solos since the release. Also I solo queue so play with randoms. I think it's really interesting playing with randoms and using pings

I played a handful of games without a friend and still had a great time even in a lower MMR maybe I got lucky but I don't see being in a call with my partner as a must
i hade the opposite with randoms i lost allways because they dont really playxed with me together they played like normal battleground pretty much
@@TheCotzi Eh, it varies. I had a game where my communication with random teammate with pings was great and we steamrolled other teams. It made me angry at Blizz for not showing your teammate's tag after the game to add them as friend, because I'd love to play with that guy again.
it's defo way more fun to play with a friend but I think doing it alone is still fine

Me and my friend used to play TFT together, we tried duos but went back to just playing together in solos because it was more fun. I imagine if I had a friend who played hearthstone in 2024 they wouldn't want to play duos

I really like this mode, even as a solo player. I think it’s an objectively better game than solos, like just more complex and interesting and fun. More replayability, which is my only/biggest problem with battlegrounds regularly
Without watching the video: the answer is feeding him quillboar. Their scale is outrageous once they get the t6 minion that gives future gems +1/1.

My most 'absurd' win in bg's is that I was trying to do the quest where you have to upgrade the tavern so I just didn't get anything and rushed all the upgrades without buying any minions whatsoever. Once i had tier 6 I started getting minions and bc I rushed there I ended up getting first pick of basically everything and built an insanely strong [I think it was demons] setup and I ended up literally taking 1st place. I laughed and was like there's no freaking way that worked.

the quests gave more experience, it was more friendlier weather u played w frends or solo. another youtuber i looked into nailed it forgot the name though but it was recent.

I feel like Duos exists because Blizzard wants a BG mode they can push a competitive scene for. It is much more suoted to pro play than solo BG is. Also easier to organise games sinxe you only need to organise 4 teams at a time rather than 8 per game.
I personally really enjoy this game mode. I find it really funny that I have seen a lot of people ask for co-op tavern brawls or 2v2 HS, and then people are complaining about this?

I sorta understand the negativity towards Duos mode. I have a lot of fun playing with my friend. Then I tried it with a random player, and it was very frustraiting and boring at the same time.
I think they can fix it if they find a better way to communicate, like a temporarily enable chat with them
There is a way to communicate though, I think it's easter on the PC but it's also somehow possible on mobile, my husband did it in one game and he was playing on his Phone.
