You make it look so simple!?! So it is DC voltage that is powering the lightbulb during the test? just a regular house lightbulb? & On a second note I fired up an old 13” tube today that after 10 minutes of running started smoking under the anode cup… Any ideas? Again thanks for making this content! Have a great weekend

Yes. Hmm. Most likely contaminates under the cup or the original dielectric grease burning. I’d clean it all up and see if it’s better. My pleasure. You too.

Bleep bloop!!! Watchin too much VGG again :D Great video as always. One question for you what was that little box, it looked like it came from the flyback on 2 wires? I don't remember seeing that on a U5000 before?

Yup. Love Derek’s stuff. As for your question, it’s a bleeder box for gun games to make the flashing less intense. It’s exclusive to the 5000. Some had them, some didn’t.

@@MikesArcadeMonitorRepair Same here, big fan of Derek. Such great people and a great family, Jess does so much it's unreal. Thanks for the info, was new to me and I had NO idea if it was just a flyback thing specific to original ones (or 3rd party). Thanks for the info, love the vids! BLEEP BLOOP! lol :D

Great video sir. Was curious though how it looks when the sweep mod is set to the wrong pin for the resolution you are running. Cheers.

It’s wavy and shrunk. It will damage the vertical IC as well if left that way too long.

@@MikesArcadeMonitorRepair Thank you sir. I'm pretty sure I have one like this in one of my midway machines. So this is crucial knowledge. Thank you sir.

What was your recommended HOT replacement?

What did you do with the colour adjustments that were off screen... Was it the just the 2 driver pots and the 2 RGB pots that you were adjusting ?

      Yup. Drive and cutoff.

Cheers for the reply - I got a 27” U5000 that is giving a poor display… I can’t get to the 5 neck board adjustments in situ - do you display looks awfully like yours in the video before you made those adjustments.
So it is just a Nick board, adjustments that you made on those five pots?
      Apologies, I am a keen amateur 😀

Turn them all about 1/4 up. Any more than that, the colors bleed. If you can’t get a good image with all the pots up about 1/4 and brightness/contrast/screen adjustments, you can try to turn them up a bit more, but it’s likely you have a weak tube.
