Great video again Adrian. Those old boys were sure made of steel. I'd love to hear some stories from your dad as I'm sure he has many from his decades in farming.. It's would be good to get his memories recorded for your family & farmer of the future as there's not many left from his generation also your mum to as women also played a vital role even more so back in the day. Then & now would make a great video series.
Love the videos and I especially love to see the lovely natural family dynamics that can be seen between you all. It makes me laugh out loud the great craic that yourself and your family have with one another. It is a real credit to you all and that is what family farming is all about. It is hard work but in the end it is lovely to see. 👍
Cracking vid sir.. you know you already have a pipe unroller in stock.... your quad trailer you were using ... put a post over the top of the sides and tie them on with ratchets lift the rear door a fraction clear of the ground tie it up and hay presto .. you've a perfect usable water pipe unrolled. . Stay safe 🏴
The time and effort you put into the explanation and editing is really appreciated. It's a joy to watch a talented operator at work. Gerry is some man for one man. Steel posts are definitely the way. I have so many memories of banging in a second post beside the broken one as a quick fix. Great video as usual
Great video/jobs Adrian 👍🏻 👋🏻Nicole BIG shout out to Gerry 🥰 I know exactly how you feel, about your Da with a ⛏️ shovel, I felt the same remembering my Mum washing clothes with a scrub board over the sink, thank goodness for modern technology, and improvising 👍🏻 Have a wonderful day Adrian and family ❤
You need to make a map of the farm yard and other features around the farm. When I was in AG Shop in high school we had to practice doing a map. It would show both above ground and below ground pipes, cables, and anything to be aware of when digging or building. The item was labeled and the depth was noted along with any other information.
Positive contribution from a confident Nicole spotting efficiencies and keeping her Da right… Nice bit of work again from Team I Farm We Farm! 👏🏻 Take care all!
Adrian awesome update. You have been a busy lad even at 9 years old!! Gerry is a phenomenal operator - well done!! Nicole is a treasure! Well done everyone!!😀
Another great update on a big project - thanks Adrian, and Nicole! 😊 Love watching Gerry and his amazing work as a heavy machinery operator - wow, he's dialed into his talent, isn't he? You've got a lot going on in that field so I bet this and any other videos will be good to have for future reference when you'll need to refresh your memory - you were such a wee boy when the original work for the house was being done... 😂 Have a great week, Adrian and family - love seeing another episode from your channel drop into my YT feed. 😊🌞🐄🌱❤
I enjoyed that! As always, nice, clean work. I've already read many comments and I'm only going to echo what everyone else is saying and that Gerry is a professional at what he does.
Impressed as always... and especially with the comments and GREAT advice to "Always turn off the power, if you have an electrical cable, turn the thing off, no matter where you think it is"! And by all accounts the good use of intelligence was passed on to the next generation. Great humor, as usual, however sometimes credit needs to be given directly where it is due...so here goes, I'm going to say it for you, Adrian: " Yes Nicole, you're absolutely Right, that is a great intelligent suggestion! Thank you for caring enough to not only be here helping me, but also for being tuned in to what we are doing and I want you to know that I am soo proud of you"!!!😄
Great video Adrian.. heard good feed back about the galvanized posts.. apparently you can get fasteners for the wire that just clip on to them so handy for splitting fields into paddocks.. be great to get your feed back on them and how they work with your land 👍🏻
Adrian would the soakaway from the septic system not percolate into the well at some level? It fully depends on the depth of the well and where the well screen is open, but there will likely be some flow from your treatment system into the water. All pending on water quality assessments of course! Just a thought for potentially adding more filters to your system before going to the Parlour. Gerry is an animal on that Hitachi fair play!!
Just waiting for the bailer to arrive get this silage done, well if its going to stay dry we might get a little hay, sun reliant of course, great watch as usual Adrian, we mole plowed a water pipe in, what a job you would never even have known it was done, it was a great machine well worth the hire, can't wait to see this job up and running, did you say 9 years I thought it was about 7 but there you go time does fly, good luck to you all
@@IFarmWeFarm we just hired it in, it was a big quad drive tractor with a vibration box on the plow put the 1/4 mile in the ground in about 20 minutes and it was followed by a vibration trench roller, you could not even tell it had been in, well worth the money, nothing wrong with what you done and we would probably have done the same but this machine was working on a job close to us and I went and asked them if they could do it they come the next day couldn't have worked in better
Adrian, have you checked the actual well? I'm doing a very similar job here (Co. Clare) and when I ran the pump, it pumped clear water for about 3 mins and then it turned all sandy colour. It looks like the liner in the well is damaged. It's an old well, maybe 50 years. It was perfect years ago but sitting idle for maybe 20 years. That was when we connected to the new mains water. I'm using a submersible pump as well is 50 feet deep. I don't know if I can add an inner liner or not, as current liner is 6 inches and pump is 4 inches.
A trick to make life easier to lay out hoses and cables is to hang the roll on a pipe or pole across the top of the sides of your trailer and then pull the hose out and at the same time eliminate the twisting of the hose, roll it out opposite to it was rolled up in the roll. 😅
Do you suffer severe frosts? I ask because you appear to have not buried the water pipe very deep at all. I fully realise that to do so (put it in deeper) would have interfered with a good number of field drains.
Our frost is normally -1 / -4 It does get lower but that doesn’t happen very often and it’s usually only for a short period, it’s down 18 inches + so should be fine 🤞
I’ll be using them in hedges for 2 row of barbed wire this week, for electric they should be good for paddocks like mine so long as they can take the tension of the reels and lines as we strip graze. The insulators are a worry on first impression, if the wire was to ever come off and touch the steel it would be a straight earth to ground. Time will tell 🤷🏻♂️
Adrian I think you know yourself them steel fence posts, galvanised or not, just won’t do…. Any even tiny breach of the galvanise is the weak spot and this will happen even driving one past a stone. They won’t last in the ground lad…. Particularly the ‘stoney grey soil’ up your parish. Gerry - animal in a machine 🔥
Not needed here, frost we get didn’t penetrate near that depth. Even with the last big freeze we had in 2010 pipes more than 12inches under ground didn’t freeze
Watching Gerry attach that narrow digging attachment was quite something. A true artist.
I literally came to the comments to say the same thing! Such a tidy operator
He’s very experienced, been on a digger since he left secondary school. Has a great attitude going into jobs as well
@@IFarmWeFarm you should cut that clip down into a RUclips short.
Nicole is a Fantastic Young Girl always Helping her Dad .🥰👍
Man on the Hitachi is an artist
That he is 👌
I like the way Jerry marked the trench out before digging it!
I agree he is very good and thinks about the job.
He could sign a cheque with her

Jerry picked up that narrow digging attaachment very smoothly

I thought exactly the same! Great minds think alike!
Gerry’s the man on the digger fur sure. He made right quick a job of that.

This man is a real professional. He knows his business. You are fortunate to have access to such a good operator.🐄

That’s a very good idea
Those steel posts are an absolute life saver. They made life so much easier at home. They are expensive but as I always say. Buy once not multiple
As a women I find it very inspiring to see other women out on the farm. Blessings

Adrian for the pipe reeler you can put it on wheels and put it on the back of the quad
What a great job Gerry did on the digger great video Adrian 👍👍👍

Finally star picket posts no wood ones. 🇦🇺That’s all we use here in Australia

I often thought of buying a mow plough and an adaption to bury pipe with it. How do you find it?

Great depth of topsoil in that field, we don't have anywhere like that.
What you call percolation we call a leach bed. I enjoy watching the program. ❤
Adrian just wondering why u not use blue piping it's less prone 2 frost especially when u weren't able 2 go the required depth due 2 pipes and cables
Nicole us so cute. I love t[ see the girls help you. How lovely. I can't imagine digging a trench like that by hand. 😊
Can't believe you chucked that 3inch bit of pipe away...you'll need that tomorrow..
I regret it now 🙈
Well Adrian, great digger man with out a dought , great video, chat soon kieran from laghey donegal town

Great video tidy job 👏
Use a metal detector to find underground power lines. Might also detect your sewage drain lines.
Did you not consider using a mole plough to lay the pipe Adrian?
Great job 👏
Graet video as always!
You might wish you were nine but I did not come down with the last shower of rain. Regards James.
I’ve gone the same way the last year with the posts the timber is just gone to bad
Nice job!
That’s some skill
I’ve heard steel posts are only good for passages or dividing fields where there are no bushes to earth it. Easily earthed seemingly
I’ll be using them in hedges for 2 row of barbed wire this week, for electric they should be good for paddocks like mine so long as they can take the tension of the reels and lines as we strip graze. working job ❤
Ade - wish you could decide how old you are!! 🤣
I was 30 a while back 👍
You could use the Concrete Post as a Strainer Post
To be able to dig like that with no rock must be awesome.
U could have mole ploughed in that pipe too no damage to field no reseeding works great
