Huff has had a spanning career that reaches from 80's shred lord supreme to nashville session royalty to Award winning producer. I can't say enough great things about this guys playing and music and how it has impacted me over the years. Hope you enjoy!

As a kid, before ever dreaming of playing guitar, I was in love the sound of these epic solos I would hear on albums by Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith... little did I know back then that it was one of the greatest session players of all time.

I became a Dann Huff fan in the early 80's when he was in a band called White Heart . His talent is ridiculous !!! Dann and EVH were the ones who drove me to not put my guitar down when i first started . Love to see him getting the love . Thanks Andy for the episode .

The first two Giant albums are amazing. One of my faves of all time. Just a shame those came through a bit late as the music scene was changing!

I first purchased the first Giant cassette just based on I’ll see you in my dreams. He always reminded me of a more technical Neal Schon. LOVE some Dan Huff. Honestly imo Keith urban wouldn’t have been as big without him.

I would LOVE to see a breakdown of Dann's Free Bird solo. I remember receiving Skynyrd Frynds as a gift back in 94 and searched for years to find out who played it.

What a great ‘meeting Dan Huff story’ Andy. I’ve been a massive Dan Huff fan since the 80’s, I would hear great guitar playing on various band and artists albums and invariably it was Dan’s name in the credits. The seminal moment for me was hearing Dan’s solo on the Rick Springfield song ‘one Reason (to believe)’. IMO it’s one of the greatest solo’s of all time, it’s a short solo but it blew my mind! For anyone who hasn’t heard it check it out on Rick’s ‘Rock of Life’ album. There’s a 30 minute video of ‘Giant live in London’ on you tube, Dan’s playing and singing is amazing.

Andy and Ben Eller have become my favorite guitarists. So what Dan Huff is to Andy, these two are to me. Ashamedly I live local to them and haven't met either one of them, but if I do, I think I'll legitimately be star struck, which is odd to me because I wasn't star struck when I met Joe Satriani or Eric Johnson.

For those Dann Huff Fans that have not yet discovered his work with Mark Spiro check out „Don‘t leave me in love“ from the Album „Devotion“. The signature Dann Huff Chorus guitar sound is huge on that track, great intro that continues/repeats in the verse supporting Mark Spiro‘s unique vocal style. Later on it was recorded on Giant lll, but the version on Spiro‘s Devotion is the one i prefer

IIRC, Dan Huff also played on another Whitesnake cut, but it was only released in a movie and on the 30th anniversary release of the '87 album. It was a remake of "Standing in the Shadows." Coverdale had a real fascination of redoing older Whitesnake tunes LOL! I don't know if that remake was credited as Whitesnake or Coverdale, but it was another remake.

I’m pretty sure. Wished I could find it or maybe it was a video I saw with Coverdale talking about it. I know Keith Olsen tried to downplay John Sykes’ influence on the album, for whatever reason, but I’d pay good money that Dann Huff played on the remake of “Standing in the Shadows.”

Holy cow. Dann is my all time favorite and was easily the biggest influence on my playing, but I've never heard Wynona's Freebird. I just listened to it and that is wild! Dann normally doesn't get that crazy on other people's stuff. Amazing, as usual.

Lonestar, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, John Anderson, Blackhawk...and I could keep going😉 Dann has been my guy since the 80's while everyone else was on EVH. Giant Last of the Runaways album is phenomenal. I have met Dann a number of times and he is a players guy... Very genuine and gracious. Last time I saw him was at the Ryman at the Toto show in 2017. Jay DiMarcus actually took a pic of me and Dann with my phone. He was there to see Lukather, who he credited for helping him get in to sessions in LA. Andy, your stock just went up in my book for talking Huff... Not bad for a TN boy😉

Dann is my all time hero too! Such a complete musician with a brilliant career. I just came across a bunch of isolated guitar tracks from the 80’s with Dann Huff doing his magic on some hit records and the guy is a genius... I’m going nuts trying to replicate his trademark trichorus shimmering clean tones from the 80s on my fractal. I would mention his solo on Warren Hill’s “tell me all your secrets” where Dann just kill it with his melodic soulful playing on a jazzy progression.
