É incrível o que uma música faz com a mente e o coração da gente.
Tantos anos depois e ainda é impressionante o quanto essa melodia toca na alma e traz um sentimento de alegria e nostalgia muito boa.
Williams, Jackson Jr, Lukather, Huff, Pierce, Baxter, Landau, Parks, Carlton, Ritenour, Parker Jr, Graydon, Shelton, and many more are all in the soundtrack to my life!! They all got to live the dream, and thankfully we can live our dreams through them!! Thanks so much Dan!!
You should check out some of the other videos on our channel. If you haven’t already, we have several longform interviews with many of the above, that you mentioned, where they play through their biggest hits to the original tracks.
I think you named all the studio greats, very cool
noobs call him ‘underrated’ because they never heard of him before 😂
Couldn't have said it better myself.
We love our dreams in our delusional bedrooms or busking lol
As a guitar player you HAVE to love Dann Huff!
🔥🔥🔥
I am not a guitar player (Synth Nerd over here), and never heard of his name tbh. BUT... I just love this! That tone and his effortless playing. Awesome! Will research him further 🙂
Dann Huff helped define that 80’s session guitar sound. Thanks for having him on.
Stay tuned for the full video that should be out in about a week or so! Many more stories and insights to come!
He is a dope and he's wrong. He doesn't know David Foster played on and produced Glory of Love.
@@moonbeamskies3346dude, show some respect. Dan Huff is a legend. FYI - Foster is credited as a songwriter only, Michael Omartian is credited as the producer and keys player. So Dan is not a dope as you said. Gee wiz
@@moonbeamskies3346who hurt you?
@@moonbeamskies3346 Dude, chill out and stop acting like an Ass.
Dann Huff's guitar playing made the world a better place to live in.
❤️
Oh my God, you know, I was just thinking the same thing. How much pure goodness and light is in that music. Lukather, and Landau, all the greats, one thing in common - love and good will towards everyone.
YES
That part still sounds magical to this day
Absolutely!
32 years later I am still listening Time to Burn when I run🤘
Heck yea!
😂😂😆😆
You must run fast 🙌🏻🇺🇸🎸
Got a chance to meet Dann at United Sound Systems in Detroit back in the 90's when he was with Giant. A&M had a listening party and I was the engineer assigned to the session. We had never heard of Giant, so we tripped out when they brought their equipment in and we saw flight cases with "Dann Huff" stenciled on the sides. We got a chance to sit and talk with him and ask him about the L.A. session scene. He was a wealth of information and was one of the nicest people you could ever meet!
Very cool!
I grew up listening to this Mans guitar playing. But never heard of him. THE most underrated Guitarist on the planet.
Dann is the man!
Thanks for not insinuating that you _had_ known who he was! 😂 I see very few comments like yours.
No, he’s not underrated. He is HIGHLY rated in the studio world. Everyone knows him in the industry.
He chooses to hide in the shadows as a studio musician.
@@davidmerlin3344He means underrated as in the masses have never heard of him. Everyone talks about Clapton, Page, EVH and SRV but the average person has never heard of guitar wizards like Dan Huff, Tim Pierce and Paul Jackson Jr. Another guy worth mentioning is Bruce Gaitsch who not only played on alot of Cetera’s songs but Richard Marx and Madonna’s as well.
Dann Huff is one of the greatest of all times.
Undoubtedly!
Love love Dan Huff....his tone and sessions back in the day are such a masterpiece
Some phenomenal stuff with his own band Giant too - the Time To Burn album was killer from beginning to end...Dann just smoked on that one!
Thanks for watching!
Dann Huff, Michael Landau, Steve Lukather - that's your session guitar holy trinity right there
Paul Jackson Jr. as well for 80’s Mt. Rushmore of session gods.
Don't forget Jay Graydon
from the 1980's yes! :)
Dann is such a down to earth person. I started listening to him back in the Whiteheart days. After he got to L.A, he eventually used Kasha preamps and Schecter guitars. This was around the "Giant" years. I had some questions about his rig, and wrote a letter to him through Schecter. I included my phone number. One day the phone rang, and my wife said it was Dann Huff. I couldn't believe it, I thought that a friend was messing with me. Anyway, it was him and we chatted for a bit. I'll never forget his kindness. I ran into him at a NAMM Show a few years later. One of the NAMM concerts was Giant! What a show. Thank you for having him as a guest.
❤️❤️❤️ that’s amazing! Please stay tuned for the full two hour video coming in a week or so. Make sure to subscribe!
Yeah- I saw White heart when they were touring their first album.
Dann Huff is and always will be an absolute LEGEND of a musician; guitarist; producer, and outstanding human and truly a hero of mine!!!
Hope you come back for the full interview that releases next week! Over 2 hours of content with Dann playing all the hits! Be sure to subscribe and turn on the notifications so you know when it drops!
Everytime I watch a Dann Huff video there's this "He did this song, too??" moment. Unbelievable. Like he's the Matrix of the music industry.
More to come! Full interview will be out in about a week or so! It’ll be over 2 hours long!!
Dann and Lukather were the 80’s.
Dann has always been one of favourites but to hear him go through his parts is awesome! How Dann and Luke and Landau came up with such wicked parts that really make the record for me. The glue that holds it all together. So creative. More Dann! Loving this!
Yes!
Its call talent
Amazing guitarist, players like Dan, Steve Lukather & Neal Schon have that instant soul & melody in thier playing. Giant's Time To Burn is an incredible album, better than the first record, proper gem!, as was Hardline's Double Eclipse release which featured Schon, i saw Hardline support Extreme in 1993, wicked gig. Great video, lovely to see Dan talking & playing, good interview, enjoyed it, thanks for posting. Cheers
Stay tuned! Full interview will be out in about a week or so! It’ll be over 2 hours long!!
Dan played on a couple of my songs in the day. He threw down one incredible solo after another, effortlessly. Magician.
Dann's solo on the track Big Mistake is one of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE guitar solos.
❤️❤️❤️
The solo for I'll see you in my dreams is one of my all time favorites. Absolutely beautiful
❤️❤️❤️
Mason is right that David Foster WAS involved - but it was on the writing end as he co-wrote the tune with Peter. Michael O's production was spectacular - and having Dann on guitar just makes this track all that more special. Great interview!
I’m sure it was just a matter of the amount of time that it passed between when Dann did the session, probably 40 years ago or close to.
Dan Huff is my favorite session guitarist and an influence in my musicianship. His prolific sound and sensibility in his musical contribution from countless records and his band Giant always kept me enthralled. This is such a wonderful interview/performance from Dan. Cheers.
Be sure to stay tuned for the full interview, over two hours long that should be coming out in a week or so. Make sure to subscribe so that you’re notified once it releases.
Thanks so much for doing these interviews with session players from back in the day. Dan came to LA just a few weeks after I did and immediately started working. Me not so much. Haha. He's a monster. I relaying liked his rock soloing at the time. I imagine he started getting more work when Luke started concentrating on Toto and touring. Again thanks for doing these.
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you'll come back for the full interview where we get more into the weeds on Dann's transition from Nashville to LA, and then back to Nashville again. You're a legend in your own right as well and deserving of your own video for your guitar work. Pleased to see you here Tom! Thank you!

Dann’s an amazing guitarist. Chicago used him on Chicago 19. Dann’s solos on Look Away, You’re Not Alone, and Heart In Pieces (particularly) are out of this world.

So freakin' awesome! Iconic guitar parts and tones, thanks for this video and can't wait to see the series.
More to come! Full interview will be out in about a week or so! It’ll be over 2 hours long!!
What a musician and seemingly lovely guy. It’s so refreshing and cool to hear a mature, tasteful, top-flight producer and session legend say “I just wanted to play a lead on every song”. He knows we all know that you play what’s right for the song, so he doesn’t have to say it again. The honesty of a guitar ripper is still there. Dann Huff rules.
❤️
I still remember that "Usual Suspects" moment when I realised that almost all the tracks - spanning way across the genres - that I loved over the past couple of decades because of the guitar parts was Dann Huff. It was like a "wait, is that *other* track I love Dann Huff..? Yes. Yes it is." Incredibly humble guy, great musician, great producer and still somewhat under-appreciated imo (outside the industry, I mean). Thanks for doing these interviews!
More to come! Full interview will be out in about a week or so! It’ll be over 2 hours long!!
Wow, didn’t know he played on a lot of songs. All I knew back then was that he was on 1 of my all time favorite late ‘80s band.

Can't thank you enough for having dann huff on the channel. The song is called "the glory of love", but it should be called "the glory of a compressor with a tristereo chorus, pitch detune, dual digital delay and a plate reverb"! But they went with the short version 😂

Thank you, Dann, for giving some much deserved spotlight to David Williams. His name hasn't risen to the level of other studio players, but it sure deserves to.
Davis Williams was a beast!
This was awesome. So beautiful. Great interview Mason!
Glad you enjoyed it! Remember, this is just a small clip, a teaser so to speak, the full video will come out in a week or so, and will be over two hours long.
These series of interviews are an amazing insight into what it means and what it takes to become a successful session player. And it's not always for only the chops. Thanks for doing this.
More to come! Full interview will be out in about a week or so! It’ll be over 2 hours long.l!
I had no idea that was him on that track adding atmospheric touches. A proper musician with the chops to go with it.
❤️❤️❤️
You said it perfectly, you were inferring that the way he played with the mastery of knowing each change, and playing through across changes shows restraint, a self governor if you will, and leaving the listener knowing how hard the player can shred, and go crazy if they wanted, it's like a twiddle tease, and backing off, leaving the eargasm effect of wanting more, never give the crowd what they want, always drawing back from what they expect is an artistic approach only someone who has mastered their instrument, and feel, tone, sound, has the ability to do.
❤️❤️❤️
Sheesh!! Thank you so much Mason for these interviews!

Man, I can't thank you enough for finding him and bringing him on - he's definitely one of the all time heroes during my formative years and actually until today - I've just turned 59 (!) darn... But I guess, small town country boy, I afforded myself bigger dreams than my britches' pockets would carry and if anything, I'd have wanted to be like him, like the other guitarists he mentions, who were equally big influences for me. I probably gave my band mates a hard time, for going on and on about those tasty embellishments of his or Mr. Jackson's or Steve Lukather's, Michael Landau's, and sat myself down for as long as it took to figure out exactly what they were playing - again, much to the chagrin of my fellow band members, because unfortunately, none of what I tried to absorb I was able to perform on stage for they didn't appreciate the US produced pop music of the time, so our repertoire was different.
Anyway... old man's woes on my part, I guess. But can't wait for the full interview - so good! Thanks a ton!
