People acting like those who ship Aerith and Cloud don't understand FF7's storyline is one of the things that bother me the most. Ship whatever you want to ship, but don't act like I'm stupid for shipping the ship that the devs are clearly throwing at me over and over again lol.
I can see why people ship Tifa and Cloud, even if I don't agree. But I'll never understand why so many people can't seem to see how Cloud and Aerith are clearly depicted as romantic, especially in the Remake.

Did people forget that Tifa wasn't even going to be in the game at all originally? It was only Cloud, Aerith, Barret and Red.
And like dismantled and the ultimania states you get Aerith if you play normally. You literally have to go out of your way to get Tifa.
With things like lying and saying Tifa is your girlfriend, literally having to walk around Aerith to get to Tifa in the sewers, etc.
And even in Remake sewers Clouds arrow is pointed to Aerith on the mini map.
And there is soo much more. People really like to self insert themselves onto Cloud. It's ok to have a preference. They gave the option for a reason. But to act like Tifa is Clouds canon choice doesn't make any sense.
Even after her death they don't work out. And Clouds still looking for Aerith in his cameos in other games.

For me, playing FF7 and ignoring Aerith is like ignoring Cloud this whole time. However, this surprises me less and less, because I come to the conclusion that many Clotis do not like Cloud as much as they like Tifa, but he is the main protagonist in the game, not her, which some of them do not cope with very well

Legit though. Why does every other FF7 essay person go "Aerith is amazing. I wish I had someone in my life like her. She is everything that is good in the world. If only Cloud could have saved her. He loves her so much.... But Tifa is the obvious canon love interest and I will not elaborate further."

Saying that ff7 is a masterclass in storytelling and then saying ur fav ship is tifa and cloud is kind of wild to me... I know there is a lot that ties together tifa and cloud and them being childhood crushes and tifa looking after cloud what not, but the fact that aerith and cloud don't have that kind of tie makes their relationship that much weirder...and better.
Starting with Aerith being the canon choice as rosa in the loveless play, and cait sith prophesizing the same fortune for all rosa's (which is Aeriths fate), also that rosa's weapon is literally a staff and we know which party member uses a staff, but the best part about aerith being the canon rosa is that the story for loveless completely matches her story with cloud and sephiroth AKA starcrossed lovers (Alphried being cloud - rosa being Aerith - Barret being sephiroth), and to make it even better... guess where aerith and cloud first meet, on loveless street! Even this little part of the story is so well crafted its insane, imagine how intricate the story is when it gets about aerith and cloud... if this is not canon it wouldn't have taken such a big part out of the game. Everything makes sense and everything clicks together, the story is so cohesive when aerith is the main interest. So to say ff7 is a masterclass in storytelling and maaaajorilly omitting aerith and her relationship with cloud out of the story does not make sense at all.

I've made this point elsewhere but I can't believe that these 'storytelling analyzers' completely ignore what the game was trying to convey about the Promised Land the entire time. Aerith says no one knows where it is, Cetra were nomadic people that would journey until they'd find it, that they would feel it once they got there. Her mom wanted to leave on that adventure to search for her promised land. Death was never overtly referred to as the promised land. They always called it 'returning to the planet.' And for some, that might have been their PL after a long journey where they'd reunite with their loved ones. But ultimately, note that the ONE description that we get about the PL is that it's a land of 'supreme happiness.'
Look at ShinRa's obsession with finding it. ShinRa's interpretation of the PL is that it's a land where people are happy and want for nothing, hence they concluded that the land must be fertile and ripe for mako harvesting.
It's hilarious to me as you can imagine that they chose that ending scene where Cloud sees Aerith, and immediately talks about the promised land.... AND MEETING HER THERE. It's an overt declaration that Cloud's Promised Land IS WITH AERITH BECAUSE SHE IS HIS SUPREME HAPPINESS. Sigh. This fandom is so tiring lmao.

One thing I would like to point out is, this game for many people is about loss. Loss cuts deep and it can define you. Cloud losing Aerith in the OG helps him to find himself his true self that comes out when she dies in his arms. The short monologue this guy gave after that scene should have been a pivotal moment in his view of storytelling. But of course, these fans focused more on a ship than the actual point of the story and its main character.

Hi there. This whole situation feels like the entire problem with FF7 discourse and kind of the problem with the entire internet. If I was to take an educated guess, I’d say this guy likes Tifa (which is fine) and then when doing research for FF7 read a bunch of tumblr blogs of people warping the meaning of FF7 to be purely about Tifa. So in his head it makes perfect sense, but his point of view isn’t the entirety of all human existence. He can’t have my point of view.
Why can’t he just be honest and say “I like Cloud and Tifa’s story for these reasons.” Why does he feel the need to selectively choose which scenes to include and not include. Why does he feel the need to say something is canon where, in truth, it is open for interpretation?
It’s so frustrating to see so many writers, web sites and video people just going along with the group think rather than just doing their best to play the game and asses it with out a bias, or just be honest.
Anyway, part 3 will probably be a rude awakening for a lot of people. Cloud’s identity crisis is going to get a bit real.

The other thing with the dates in Rebirth is you can see the amount of effort that went into crafting Cloud and Aerith's scene compared to Tifa and Cloud's. In Tifa's date scene with Cloud it seemed kind of lazy the way it's shot and the lack of dynamics used for the cinematography. It's kind of boring actually. And in the high affection portion, him kissing her actually should make Tifa angry because he kisses her after seeming jealous that Aerith might still like Zack and Tifa seems sad because she knows his true feelings aren't for her. The Cloud and Tifa date also makes no sense in context with the story. They really shouldn't have made Tifa an option because it makes the story incoherent which is the reason for the ridiculous shipping wars.

    • @turtlepowerr
      @turtlepowerr Месяц назад +11

@@Guy9998 @mlwjrpg did you also notice the way he closed off with Tifa when they enter and when the chocobo holograph comes in she moves it and he does nothing then there is a solid 30secs of nothing and the first thing he brings up is Aerith , they talk about her and Zack and you see Cloud kinda change as in like he doesn’t have a chance with Aerith cause of Zack and then does a complete 360 in the date with Tifa all aggressive leading into the kiss, when they get off they get off separately and awkward… it’s weird.
Then with Aerith he’s more open , still a little closed but more in a nervous kinda of way. When the space ship hologram comes in Cloud immersion goes in for the save and we get the cute little moment of her falling into Cloud and he catches her. Bring up Zach seemed more natural and the conversation flowed more as it was a Aerith affirming to Cloud that she wants to be with him ( I want to be with YOU) then we get the interlocking handholding that Cloud looks again super nervous but like it’s a progression of a natural relationship, when they get off he grabs her hand to help her.

You can take it that she's lying to Cloud about Tifa not telling her about him remembering Zack, but I think it more or less implies that she doesn't want to talk about Zack and that her relationship with Zack is in the past and is no longer important nor relevant. With Tifa, Cloud tries to keep the conversation about Aerith and Zack going and Tifa ends it.

Awesome video. FF7 is also a master class in subverting expectations.
Back in ‘97everyone knew Aerith and Cloud were the romance. Tifa was simply the busty babe from Cloud’s childhood. That’s why when Aerith dies the impact was unlike anything in video games.
Final Fantasy is no stranger to killing off characters, even party members, but never the “white mage” main protagonist’s love interest.

The masterclass in storytelling starts with two theme songs focused on the two main players' love story. Of inserting a side quest where you take her picture in front of star formations to subtley remind you they're star-crossed lovers. And of course of not having to tell everyone their affectionate date scene in Rebirth is just fan service. Among other things...

Wether you like Aerith as Cloud’s love interest or not, a video this long that is meant to display why FFVII’s Narrative is so great, needs to have at least a somewhat major focus on Aerith. The narrative’s most central characters are Cloud, Sephiroth, and Aerith. I’d say Tifa is probably the 4th most central character but not to focus on Aerith much in the video just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Also not focusing much on Aerith before her death, makes her death hit so much less. How can you barely talk about Aerith up until the scene where she dies? If you’re gonna talk about why that scene is peak storytelling, you should show how much Aerith mattered BEFORE that moment. Because if she didn’t matter before that moment, her death wouldn’t be one of the most talked about moments in gaming history.
