      You forgot Bhunivelze+ from Lightning Returns. Bhunivelze in its second form is much, MUCH harder than Ereshkigal and Aeronite. Yes it's the Final Boss, but you can't encounter this Bhunivelze outside of NG+ and unlock Ereshkigal's dungeon.

      Maybe start uploading quality content again instead of 5 best of something and 7 worst of something trash. It really ruins the excitement for the next video if only trash gets uploaded 90% of the time. Im really starting to think about unsubscribing. Its better to upload nothing instead of trash. I would rather wait for a good video instead of getting bombarded with useless content. Get a job man so you dont rely on trash content for money

    I would honestly love a video or two on the history of Crystals in Final Fantasy. Because while they've been a throughline for a lot of the games, their roles in each game vary, from linchpins of the environment to locks for a specific person or place to simple sources of power to just save points.

    I think the absolute most annoying aspect of Vercingetorix was the goddamned healing shield, especially if you happen to stumble into the battle at a pitifully low level like I did ㅠㅠ
    Something else I noticed: I remember that Vercingetorix isn't fought just that one time, but also the time before it (which is how it's encased in a crystal sphere in the cutscene shown), which references quite a few older superbosses that had more than one phase, particularly like Deathgaze and the Magus Sisters in the essence that the two phases are presented separately rather than in the same encounter.
    Also, small correction: I don't believe the Long Gui was mechanical... I think that, like pretty much all other mobs in the Steppe, the Long Gui was also an organic creature.

      Sure, what's easier than Poison Vercingetorix, Summon, go in Gestalt, stall the Summon until it goes out, Elixir then repeat ? ^^
      That's the easiest glitcheless strat to deal with Vercingetorix... but if you add glitches to the mix, there's even more easier strat : Provoke-Death Glitch, if it works, Vercingetorix will do nothing the entire fight... but it's a frame perfect trick.

    I wonder how players reacted to Admantoise coming back even stronger than ever in FFXIII-2. Considering how long fighting it seemed to already take in the first game.
    Feral Chaos, though...Oh man, I remember hearing that after beating him, not only could you unlock him, but his amazing battle song as well, I went WILD trying to beat him. All of my best guys were dead in the end, and I am pretty sure my first win was with a level 75 or so Golbez. I was SO lucky, as I was also on a trip and couldn't charge my PSP at the time (it was a class trip of sorts so it wasn't my car, etc) and I was in no way gonna let that win go to waste! Luckily the battery never died and I got to save - and celebrate my victory - after we got back in the car. xD

    • @Bardic_Knowledge
      @Bardic_Knowledge 4 месяца назад +1

      My victory against Feral Chaos was also using Golbez. I specifically remember a half an hour of using Nightglow repeatedly because the startup of the attack was a shield, then the attack itself launched FC into the ceiling.

      Honestly i think the superbosses in 4 heroes are far harder than the final boss. The gauntlet for the level 4 100 floor dungeon is far harder than anything in the main game. Also theres a secret superboss. In the story theres a unwinnable fight against a bear and when you refight it you actually fight a weak version. Well if you go back the old one is still there with max stats. Its possible to beat it post game but its beyond hard to win.

    Aeronite and Ereshkigal were some of my favorite superbosses to figure out thanks to LR having incredible system depth. Aeronite could also be encountered within a Chaos zone which buffed its stats and gave it regen. Hard Mode Chaos Aeronite had 57.75 million HP which at least at one time was the most of any superboss (not sure if it still is), yet it could be taken out extremely fast with different strategies.

    Bhunivelze+ is unlocked at the end of New Game+ and is considerably more difficult than any other boss or superboss in the game - he might not have more HP than the juiced up version of Aeronite, but I remember Bhunivelze+ as much more challenging.

    • @Urthdigger
      @Urthdigger 4 месяца назад +1

      Agreed. I don't think extremes or raid bosses are necessarily superbosses, even if difficult, and Nael Van Darnes (Hard) definitely qualifies. It was the hardest fight of 1.0, and most importantly the reward was mostly cosmetic, meaning the sole reason to fight it was to test your capabilities.

      Final Fantasy XIV is going to be a very interesting one to cover due to the sheer volume of potential candidates. I've tried to handle it similar manner to Final Fantasy XI, focusing on superbosses that raised the stakes, as opposed to every possible one to have existed. MMOs have a different relationship with boss encounters than offline games. Long, high difficulty encounters are special events in offline games, but they're the core gameplay loop of an MMO's endgame. Absolute Virtue took that notion to an extreme, and I'd absolutely call that a superboss, and I don't know enough about XI to know if there were any other Absolute Virtue-caliber encounters added afterwards, but the only fights that really break the mold in XIV are the Ultimate tiers, and there's only five of those.
    I say this mainly because FFXIV has a TON of raid bosses at this point, and if Ifrit 2.0 Extreme is a superboss, than you could fill two full videos covering XIV raid bosses alone, because they'd ALL be superbosses.

    • @ZachTheZip
      @ZachTheZip 4 месяца назад +2

      I hesitate to call any of the Extreme fights superbosses. I think that title belongs to the Ultimate fights.

    • @Justuas

      They added master trials, which are like ultimates in xiv, and high level absolute virtue called Warder of Courage. But they aren't as extreme as AV during it's relevancy.

    • @ultimatecalibur
      @ultimatecalibur 4 месяца назад

      You really don't know how the molds were broken and reformed of the course of FFXIV's lifespan. The Ultimates only really became Superbosses after the previous superboss content became normalized. BCoB T5 and the Odin and Behemoth FATEs were the games hardest content and superbosses when ARR launched. 2.1 introduced Garuda EX, Titan EX and Ifrit EX which were tuned for a similar item level (ilevel) and difficulty as the BCoB raids and rewarded similar levels of gear. As ARR progressed the EX fights that followed started being tuned for lower ilevels compared to SCoB and FCoB. SCoB also received an "unnerfed" Savage version.
      Savage Raid became the norm for Superboss content in HW and the tuning for A3S and A4S nearly killed the raid scene in 3.0/3.1. After a bit of design rebalancing and introduction of raid viable crafted gear A8S introduced the now normal "Final turn Savage only Boss" with winged Brute Justice that pretty much turned the normal mode raid boss in to a door boss for the Savage raid boss.
      When UCoB was added in Stormblood it was added on top of O4S's Neo Exdeath.

    I’m surprised you didn’t touch on the super notorious monsters from FFXIV like Odin and Behemoth that required multiple parties to tackle at once to be able to down. Nowadays they may be easier to take, but in 2.0 if there weren’t enough folks working together you’d sometimes walk into the forest to find dozens of player characters dead after succumbing to a Zantensuken. Quite a sight 😮

  • @Fawriel
    @Fawriel 3 месяца назад

    A lot of these later superbosses just don’t seem to that interesting. A superboss monster can be such great worldbuilding, like how the very existence of Warmech implied something about the world of that game.
    But so many of these just don’t feel like there’s anything more to them than “here’s a really strong dude you can fight if you want to.” Nemesis is the poster child of that. I literally had to double check because I couldn’t believe that the ultimate world-ending monster of that game was essentially just made for fun by an unnamed character.

    It is amazing how you can know so much about Final Fantasy, yet simultaneously know so little based on your Dissidia coverage. You make it very clear to everyone who has played Dissidia and read the files that you have done neither: Dissidia is not fan service; it is the meta-story. Every game's story is but one cycle in a greater conflict. Each world's shared themes differing from one another is because of how history and subjectivity paint depictions of reality. Omega is always Omega, always chasing after Shinryu who is always Shinryu, across the void and into different worlds, remembered by those at the time in different ways. The frailty of memory is very important to the FF record, in lore. None of this was the intention originally, but Dissidia made this canon.
    Cid is a void traveller, and travelling the void can erase memories. Cid is the main character in the Final Fantasy story, just not the individual stories that you encounter him in. Every Cid is the one Cid of the Lufaine, but living a different life at a different time of that life.
    The Dissidia reveal is what made me fall in love with FF. It is unfortunate that you have not bothered to sit through it.

      It's still available on the Playstation store! I remember having it for GameCube and loving the esthetic of it, just a really charming fantasy look and vibe to it, akin to FF9. The systems were a bit confusing to me at the time (early teen years), and very different than the random encounter, turn based mainlines. I had just dedicated myself to learning and doing a full playthrough after several restarts, and then I lost it and the GameCube in a fire. I was so happy to see it in the PS store after finally breaking down and buying my PS5, however I bought the PS5 for FF16 and FF7 Rebirth and so I've yet to sit down and do the full playthrough that I started 20+ years ago. It typically runs for about $30 but very rarely goes on sale, I think I may have picked it up for like $22.

    The three base game superbosses weren't too hard in 13-2, but those dlc bosses were ridiculous. I am happy that square got over the idea that super bosses needed to be 40 minute nightmares that could wipe the whole party at any moment.

    • @craigfunk3453
      @craigfunk3453 4 месяца назад +1

      I've been playing FF14 since HW. Behemoth was a joke by then with enough players showing up. Odin still brings quite a challenge since you do still have lvl sync to deal with for his World FATE, and Odin can spawn above lvl 50, requiring a large enough number of players to limit his damage output and burn through his HP, I hardly ever see Odin being done anymore since most players on my server have the Odin drops they want

    • @ultimatecalibur
      @ultimatecalibur 4 месяца назад

      @@craigfunk3453 If you had started in ARR Odin and Behemoth were never jokes while the level cap was 50 even with full 130 gear. Odin gained a level every time it was defeated (up to a maximum of 60) which meant it was fully capable of quickly killing tanks that had cleared FCoB.

      Odin is a shame given its limited rewards and arguably higher difficulty compared to later superbosses in XIV.

      Shen longui or as it's called "Shaolong Gui" replaces the adamanchelid (juvenile adamantoise) when Long Gui arrives as his juvenile counterpart

      I considere Shaolong Gui as a Super Boss as well. To me it's the hardest enemy to deal with in 13.

      All I remember of it is my brother fighting it. I didn’t care enough about XIII to play more than the story and some side content. My brother did all the hunts and everything, even upgrading everyone’s weapons to the ultimate forms. (I think just on one weapon per character. Don’t think he did it for all weapons, though it wouldn’t surprise me if he did).

    I’m glad to see both the Dissidia games on this video. The amount of times it took for me to defeat Feral Chaos was the most attempts for me to try to face a final boss in a fighting game, but when I won it was satisfying in finishing that third storyline
