Your cometary is great. I laughed out loud when you dunked the second time. I can envision me doing the same thing. I enjoyed a good laugh. Cheers from Oklahoma City.

Thanks for taking the time to comment - I don’t want to admit it, but I am getting older - and the 3 dunkings proved that…

Thanks for sharing this video, Robert. People often are reluctant to share their blanks but it's often these trips which make us better anglers as they provide plenty of reflection.

I bought a Primal Zen 3wt during this season and have found it excellent value for money. Improved technology puts a great rod out there for a competitive price. I haven’t fished the Cox’s for many years but, back then, there were lively rainbows and the odd big brown. Thanks with wishes for better luck next time.

Thanks for your valuable feedback - I agree that the Primal Zen 10’ 3wt is a quality rod - if I was not so obsessed with the best of the best then I would be happy to fish the Primal permanently…

Good stuff lord gadget. Always an inspiration to get out there.
The Autumn has certainly been tougher going this year on rivers like the Cox’s Fish Duk etc. Warm water temperatures and those high sediment load flushes have not been kind, particularly to to stocked rainbows that were heavy in these systems in 21-23. Black commorants (migratory birds) over summer have put a lot of pressure on these system ( taking a lot of rainbow trout out) There are some browns poking around, and have done a little better it seems…and colder weather and the steady rain will help.
It never hurts to get skunked occasionally though ( I do pretty regularly🤣🤣).

Nice video, looked like a really nice day. Encouraging to see that even Lord Gadget sometimes draws a blank. 😊 Also good to hear your thoughts on the Primal Zen. I am keen to get myself a 3wt when I return to Australia. Primal has been one of the options I have been looking at.

Taking a Saffa friend out around Sofala tomorrow.
His first trip over the blue mountains since he arrived in Aus.
Bet he dosent fall in the drink three times.
Must of been excessive Alga blooms.

You never no if you never go 🎣 though I felt them falls 😂
Do you usually catch much there?

    • @robertlouis24
      @robertlouis24  5 месяцев назад

Yup - that is the first time that I have failed to catch at least 1 trout on the Coxs River in the 10 odd fishing trips that I have made to the river in the last 2 years…

Interested whether you carried any dry flies? You didn’t mention any when you went through your gear.

Graeme - yes, in my day box I carry a limited selection of dry flies - 1) Category 3 UV Chernobyl Olive #10, which is currently my go to fly for a prospecting dry dropper rig - it is tied with a hook that has a slightly wider gape than normal which helps with hookups IMHO - my other dry flies are (in order of the success that I have had with them):
      2) Manic Tackle Indi Klink #10 (I had great success with this fly in New Zealand in February this year)
      3) Category 3 Tricky Situation #14
      4) Fulling Mill Parachute Adams #16
      5) Category 3 Five By Five #10
      6) Filling Mill CdC Elk Caddis #14
      7) Possum Dun #12 (I have not caught any fish in this fl yet but it is highly recommended by P3P on his YT channel - he had great success with it on the Tasmanian lakes recently)
      8) Category 3 UV Chernobyl Tan #10

Ha ha ha! Re the dunkings . . . welcome to my world, Robert. Ha ha ha!
There's little doubting, you're a tiger for trying. Keep at it.
Stay with the 5.5X . . . and less too. You'll do better.
