Forza doesn’t know what it wants to be , it likes the idea of a sim but it really wants to be an arcade racer and it’s making one hell of a mess of doing both
While the racing itself is good i understand your point. A certain points i have the feeling that I’m playing Project Gotham Racing. Those last games where also that mix. But I don’t know if that’s good for a real racing game like Forza.
Agree with that 100% and IMO the tyre model in FM is the best in sim racing. Braking is like iRacing, but much better mid corner physics and it feels like a better mix between rF2 and AMS2, but everything else is arcade. You can't even put the lights on while the game just does it if it's pitch dark I guess. Why can't I setup a race with practice and qualifying? No, it's race or practice. The AI is a joke and people online leaving me more space. AMS2 AI shows how it should be done. Why can't I map buttons to at least turn ABS/TC on or off if it doesn't support factual assists of the cars like all other sims. No manual pitstops and instead it often spits you out on the track just before a corner where you have to brake immediately to not crash. The menu is a joke and I need to hit escape often because there is no back-button. Than there is this woman voice talking. Who is she and why no spotter with actual information. And for an Arcade there is just everything missing what arcades adding with challenges that even pCars 3 did better or Forza before. And than there is no BOP in GT3 and other classes. You need to know and buy the cars that are op to have a chance online.
Feel you man, I love forza, so sad that it’s missed so many marks. I know we all tired of games relaeasing full of problems but I really want them to fix all these things so we can love it again
I agree with all your points and want to add one more: the distinct lack of stat-tracking. I have no idea how many podiums I've gotten in my multiplayer career and I would really like to know
I have 3 wins in GT7 from about 110 races and those wins feel like they mean something. Not won anything in FM and probably won't, but if I do it they will be forgotten
I have noticed player numbers are down. I'm on Xbox in Australia and its not uncommon to have 6 to 8 in lobbies now where as before they would be consistently full.
@@untrainedprofessionals2374what do you mean with Fanboy, a guy who loves the saga and Support they games? Or an Xbot that just defemds the game saying that its the best ever and that every other game is sh1t and insult their players? Cuz i found lots of those
You've nailed it mate. I seriously hope T10 get to see this. The balance of performance is absolutely ridiculous. I do hope they can get it right, it's got plenty of potential.
It had potential, Turn10 murdered it. It never was a semi-casual-sim fairly playable with wheel/pedals. I trusted them playing on Xboxes from V1 they would make the effort too, but no they have not. I turned pc since 6 months, gave FM another try but it's a big disappointment. Thanks to Steam for refunding my money. Iracing, rF2, AMS2 will be laughing for Turn10 crashed and burned FM. I'm sad, very sad FM never reached its potential. RIP FM ;(
I really like the angle you took with this honestly! I have my gripes with the game too and it's nice to see someone take a well thought out approach with their criticisms of it. Most of the criticisms I've seen are just "fOrZa BaD beCauSe bAd GaMe!"
Fact is though the game is bad and sometimes that's all you can say. He has his concerns with how he likes to play, which may be different from your main concerns with how you like to play, which of course is different from my main concerns. Theres too many of these issues, thats the problem. No matter how someone might play theres something wrong. 2 days ago turn 10 addressed 3 issues they're looking into, car progression, ai and penalties. These are 3 major systems that don't work properly, 3 systems they specifically called out in the run up to launch, all failures. Now after years of waiting for this game to launch, they pretty much have to redo most of the game. Its not just the 3 issues they posted, the game is riddled with them. Sometimes a game is bad, because it's just bad.
Love that you have given this a good and honest effort. I also love the bones of this game and believe it could be a great game. Your points are spot on. Thanks for sticking with it. I would say the big difference with a game like ACC is that this game is mainly directed toward the console market, game pass players and people playing on controllers. That unfortunately is where they believe the money is. I do believe you have a group of people at Forza Motorsport trying to retain the sim quality. It is perhaps fairer to compare this to gran turismo which has managed to develop into a pretty good sim catering to a console market. Is game pass the problem? Is that why the quality of racers is so poor on Forza? I think the best thing they could do for those of us that want a more serious experience is to separate the wheel users from those that are using controllers if desired or at least give the option to put much more emphasis on safety rating over “skill” when sorting lobby’s. They do need to make a change quickly and I fear it may already be too late as those with wheels (and very good controller players) may have already moved on as you and I are reluctantly doing ourselves. On another note how do you reward good behavior and good racing significantly more than brutishness? Perhaps that’s the key? Thanks again.
It didn't take long for me to give up on the multiplayer. I'm not the fastest driver but I always do my best to race clean. Unfortunately, there are far too many players that just want to ram everyone.
Radar is really the issue there: I was doing some singleplayer races, and I was in first place, I had a bot that tried to ram me off the road, and the proximity arrow stayed there. The bot was off the track and the arrow was there for like 5-6 laps even when I was doing 20 seconds ahead. It's simply a joke, that doesn't work at all.
Bang on with all your points, I was in a game, and there was a team of 3 racers all on with mic,s who were actively picking out other racers and taking them out. I’m playing a lot less now because none of the issues are being sorted.
Totally agree with you Rory, me personally, I've stopped playing online because there's just toooo many people in the lobbys that just dont want go race, I can honestly say 85% of the races I've been in have Been ruined by gamers just ramming other racers, I just had enough of it and stopped playing. But that's just my personal opinion. Nice content Rory
But do they not have a right to ram? Why does what you want over ride others ? I love to ram the serious racer in fact most races I enter I have the ability to win by some 10 seconds a race. How ever racing sometimes bores me and ram is fun
Absolutely hate the online experience in terms of other players.. how can I have an S safety rating and a skill score of 4300 and yet every lobby I'm in is full of people purposely ramming me or driving like its bumper cars..
I absolutely love racing sims. I have always lovef Forza aswell as Gran Turismo, Project Cars etc. I just find it incredibly sad with what they have done with the series as you have mentioned in your video. I find myself going back to GT7 when I need a good racing fix. This is really a sad time for Forza. There was a time when I dropped countles hours into Forza 4, 5 or even 6. Currently I am just not bothered. I never thought I would ever say ths about a series I truly loved. I can only hope that they somehow turn this around and put Dan back in the creative director seat.
I really enjoyed this video, as someone who religiously plays Forza, horizon & motorsport, everything you’ve said here just takes the words out of my mouth Thankyou firstly for making this video and I’m excited to start watching more, it’s VERY good for us/people to voice our opinions publicly because if we don’t nothing will change.
There is a whole crew of former Forza E-Sports guys just chomping at the bit for proper matchmaking. It is effectively entirely random because it wants to get you in a lobby right away. Can you imagine the amount of people they would need to have playing concurrently for matchmaking to actually work when it fills up lobbies within a minute? Join an event 5 times in less than 2 minutes, 5 different lobbies, 4 brand new. Even with the smaller playerbase, there are plenty of players to create proper splits based on safety and skill over a 25-35 minute join period, if they are all taken into account. The current system has failed, so it's time for them to start looking at what has worked for others, IE IRacing, LFM, and Gran Turisimo. Agree with pretty much everything else you said, especially as a wheel player. I do disagree a bit though on tuning. Believe it or not, tuning actually brings most of the spec ars closer together because the base tunes are so bad. But base car balance in spec series is all over the place and no where close. There is a reason everyone hates the Audi R8 in the GT lobbies. Also the most op cars have come from car pass and the race pack.
@Kaylos29 I appreciate your take on this, and I agree with your points. Tuning is not really a concern with the spec series-yours and others’ readily available tunes have kept me reasonably competitive. Out of curiosity. Did you catch Rory’s stream today that prompted this video? It was really brutal in regards to the ramming. It’s so strange because overall my experience has been much better lately in multiplayer.
The punting off track is the same in GT7. Can’t help players with zero driver etiquette. GT7 also mixes drivers with high and low SR ratings so it’s luck of the draw if you get a clean or dirty lobby
@@stuartfury3390 nah it's not. There's a panel of people who review footage on iracing and LFM and they ban people from the platform or you get suspended etc. Sure, it occasionally happens and accidents happen just as in real life, but it's nothing like these unpoliced console games. Oh and of course they have proper matchmaking too.
the biggest issue is the frame rate.T10 says its 60fps for everyone sadly not FPS depends on your screen GHZ. So if its 120=60fps 240=120fps. And it gives competitive advantage
I definitely agree with that matchmaking. I'm at S 4999 and only 1 out of 10 lobbies have someone who's at the same pace or faster. There's a reason why we can't see other people's ratings, because it will show the game is not matching based on skill or safety ratings. Hell, we can't even see what level someone has their car at. Driver info simply does not load for others. Its to a point where I'm convinced most are bots with how bad they are.
Rory, you summed it up perfectly. My sentiments exactly. Put a lot of effort to get my rank up to high 4000 +. Many of my races are destroyed by racers who don’t have a clue how to race properly.
For me it's matchmaking, matchmaking, matchmaking, and then some matchmaking. It's an absolute joke. There are big problems with the penalty system, the lack of onboard virtual mirror, radar and some bugs, but if they develop an ACTUAL matchmaking system i think the game will be 100 times better because the races will be 100 times better. The fact there is absolute no way of knowing the license and rating of other players online says it all.
I had so much hope for this game but it disappoints so much. All you said is right and my biggest problem is the time they take with patches! It feels like nothing is done to the game. The basics like saving my wheel settings don't work. I have to select my preset every game start. That's ridiculous. They need to fix it and they need to fix it fast.
It’s like they made one of the worst Forza’s possible. All we wanted was finally an improvement on Forza Motorsport 3 (4-7 have just been dlc with new maps & cars & graphics, but physics and game engine was basically the same) We wanted - More realistic crash damage - More realistic options for tunes and after-market parts - same legendary tracks as before, but with more track options - more multiplayer game modes and better balance & flow in current modes Instead we got - Less realistic crash damages - less realism for after-market parts and the same level of tuning as the past 5 games - less track options than before - less legendary cars than before - worse multiplayer mode mechanics and matchmaking - A steaming pile of shit that I paid money for🤦♀️
"This studio is not a small studio" and it's backed by one of the largest publishers. This WHOLE game shouldn't exist in the way that it is. Turn 10 went from a top tier simcade studio to... this? What the hell happened!??!?
In it's current state it is difficult to enjoy the game. In general, it is a good game. But the flaws right now are so huge, it is impossible to really enjoy it. Good to keep an eye on it for the future, but right now maybe better to focus on other games which are perfectly playable with enjoyment.
I’ve been sticking with it. I’ve recently got into “sim” racing again with this forza, even been racing with you on the streams but I’ve gone from easily playing for hours to having a couple of races and then getting off the game because of the issues you’ve mentioned. Matchmaking and a radar would turn this game into something amazing but atm it holds it back so so much and it’s even more noticeable when you jump into ACC.
One of the things about the dirty driving is allowing tuning. You mentioned how much faster a good tune can be. What you wind up with in races is some will have cars that are super fast in the straights and turn like sludge...dont stop very well...and some will have cars that turn REALLY well...but are slower out of the turns and down the straights. When there is a drastic difference between tunes and driver experience....that leads to drivers wanting to get the slower car out of the way.
Bang on. Generally builds focused on grip and cornering speed get the best lap times, but you’ll be thrown in against cars with double the power on stock brakes and tyres and they’ll just use the other cars as brakes or essentially stop on the apex of a faster corner causing a pile up. I find the back of the grid will have rapid straight line performance and the front not so much and that means on T1 every car is in the same space at once.
The online is so unfulfilling. Wish they gave us goals or challenges. Like halo infinite does with the battlepass. Simple thing that adds alot. Exp: -pass 3 cars in a single lap. -draft an opponent. -qualify in 5 races. -finish a race with soft tires. Give us points towards leveling up other cars. This would help with the carpg system.
These changes are coming way too late , on my series X the game crashing has been a problem since launch and i’m not just talking about getting crashed in game by silly people . I’ve stuck to ac , acc and gt7 for 3 weeks now and my sim experience has been way better than the whole of forza . It’s a shame really…
I'm exactly the same, on series x, and even after the supposed update to stop crashes etc, it's still doing the exact same thing. I personally think if you do too much in one session, it's like the game can't handle it. And I know exactly when it's going to crash, the screen glitches/pauses... And I know it's going to crash. Even at the start of races when you can do fuel and tyres on the grid. I know it's going to crash. And the glitch at the start of races , the intermission bit, it's skips so you don't have time to do fuel and tyres. Lots to sort out.
The biggest thing Forza's penalty system has done is make you appreciate that GT7's penalties actually work more often than they don't. They still have dumb penalties like pit line crossing and hitting the wall, but that's a separate issue. It's working as intended, which is much more than can be said of Forza.
The game won't die as these have been issues since the original games (apart from the penalty system). The thing is, it's on gamepass and the vast majority don't play the game in cockpit view or take it too seriously, same as all the other Forza's. That's probably why they thought they could get away without addressing these same issues the more serious racers have been calling out for donkey's years. We just got to hope they finally hear the more serious racing community in Forza and finally fix the issues.
I’ve been a forza fan since the first one. I literally never even thought about our racing on another game until motorsports 7 was released. Once I played it I was disgusted and highly let down by the mighty T-10 studios and just the mess they actually let go out into the public. Like I truly can’t understand how they even did so bad. Never the less motorsports 7 made me uninstall forza completely an look into other games, I found ACC an was blown away how real the game is. So impressed I went an spent $3,000 on a sim setup an I gotta say it’s the most badass racing game I’ve ever played in my life. Unbelievable experience and just an over all amazing job they did making ACC super realistic and super fun.
The penalty system is a two edged sword. Without it you have dudes ramming you off the track, in fact with it people still ram you off the track. I have the same issues with Gran Turismos Penalty system.
After doing GT7 i just can't get into Forza again. Community isn't there, no streamers, less professional, and less fun. I just have fun and feel rewarded when i play GT7.
I still haven’t written the game off, but I haven’t played or purchased it, and I’m waiting on news of good updates being rolled out. Totally agree they should maybe stop with new content and just focus on bugs. Heck - radar, improvements to car leveling (individual leveling needs to go), matchmaking fixes, improvements to wheel settings/compatibility, and general bug/stability fixes would be super exciting news in and of itself without adding a single new car or track lol.
In my case I upgraded my PC, but looks like I should have bought a PS5 to play Gran Turismo 😒 Bought a new graphic card wishing you play this game, sometimes don't even start
It’s a similar situation with COD games, dead in the water but the community still continues to buy everything they throw at us. Until the community keeps their wallets closed nothing will change. Also Forza has never been a sim and buying it hoping for that experience is stupid. The lines of “sim racing” is so blurred now that people seem to forget it never was, has been or will be a simulation game. Great work Rory as always 💙
I don’t have the game myself, but considered it at launch. I wanted to wait a while to get the general reception and have an idea of how well the game would be supported post-launch. I still put a lot of hours into gt7 and think that’s going to continue for a long time to come.
Definitely agree. The proximity system is useless. Also, the auto-ghosting is way worse than in GT7: I got a 4 second penalty the other day because a car in front of me spun, ghosted, then bounced (as a ghost) back onto the track, facing 90 degrees to the track direction. I had nowhere to go, but thought "It's OK, the car is ghosted." As it was until 0.1s before I got to it...
I remember ACC having issues at first (at least on console), and from what I read, GT7 had also. While these issues do suck right now, I’m sure they’ll get better with time. Thank you for giving this game a chance unlike so many other people who wanted to bash it before it even got released, and thank you for being fair and constructive with your criticism.
You're correct ACC did have a few issues on the console, GT7 has it's issues as well that makes me want to step away but thankfully it's not as bad as Forza
tbh we need to stop calling every game that you can play with a wheel, a sim racing game ... because even the arcade machines would be sim racing too. It's not. Forza it's not a sim game, not even close to be a sim-cade game. People hopes were too great, but don't forget about real sims like AMS2, ACC, AC, Lemans Ultimate (next month), etc ... those are the real deals out there, not a game that you can play better in your keyboard, than a wheel or even controller.
I wouldn't compare FM to ACC. When ACC released there where a lot of issues and some people even said it's worse than AC1. Comparing Forza to a game that had years of development is really unfair. In my opinion FM feels like a beta version that got sold for the price of a full version and all we can hope is that Turn10 sticks to it and delivers like Playground Games has with FH5, that game also released horribly, but now 2 years later it's full of content and runs with minor bugs. In two years I want to be able to say the same about FM, but that's also the least I expect!
T10 needs to watch your FM Stream from today and recognize what mood you were in in the end... You don't want that playing a game... They need to make this their FIRST priority to make it fun again
Can't argue with this review. I can't remember the last time I had a race where I wasn't punted off. I'm 4200 s rating and it really makes me sad that someone with a even higher skill than me is having the same issues. It means no matter how good I get the racing won't get better. And I really love how good the steering feels in the game. I've just bought ACC to see whether that makes a difference.
I have a safety rating of S, a skill rating of 4700+ and you still get put into lobbies with 'people'' who want to use your brakes instead of theirs. It's not just once, twice or even three times, it's all the time. They won't fix it because they enjoy watching us hate each other. Thank you, that's my rant, enjoy the racing.
Great content. I tend to do mostly career and multiplayer with friends rather than online with randoms. I have done some online on my own and my experience has not been terrible but again not played the amount you clearly have. One thing I wish they would do more of for those looking for the race experience is no tune fixed lobbies. So everyone is in the same car no tunes or fixed tune and then it all comes down to driving. This with rotating cars and tracks is how I do it in closed lobbies with friends. This keeps the racing close and focused.
I've stuck with it too, but the poor points DO need to be highlighted - especially by a creator your size. It's only fair to the community that paid quite a lot of money to see T10 make those improvements and I sincerely hope they deliver for their sake. Great well-reasoned and fair video 👍
Not just the issues you just mentioned There is a big issue where the most grip cars are sliding!!! Even the Cadillac in the video it’s not making sense that the most stable car in the world is sliding
Yes I was thinking this too. There doesn't seem to ever be the feeling that the car is hooked up. After a while you can get around fast but that hooked up feeling is just never there
Forza has the potential to be great. Big game studios need to start working hard and using their resources to make the best product possible. EA is the epitome of this.
Not just all of what you mentioned but on my game the dang track keeps disappearing no matter what settings I run or anything!!! I’ve tried everything including reinstalling the game
The saddest part about it all is the physics being the best in the series is getting overlooked because of all the other issues. If they had at least launched the game with all the content of 7 and have all features work as intended, we’d finally be able say fm4 is no longer peak Forza.
nah bro lets not get too excited here, even if forza 8 released with everything that forza 7 had, it still wouldnt be close to being as good a game as 4 was, forza 7 was still missing MANY features that made forza 4 the great game it was
It's the upgrade system for me, didn't like it from the moment I got the game. That's the killer for me. Along with the overall sub par presentation of the entire game. Miserable dark lifeless menus make the experience drab.
A very fair and constructive feedback video this mate. Other racers do many things right and this needs some work to align with those other racers to be a real big hitter in the online sphere. So long as people like you keep giving quality feedback - T10 have a chance I reckon, to get their sh** together. 👍
I love the handling on Forza, always have but the MP went down hill after they went to hoppers imo, the hosted games we used to play back in the day (there was a group of us) were awesome and even if you jumped from one random host to another it was rare to get a bad host, most would keep everyone in check. Overall I'll still keep playing but won't be putting anywear near the time I used to back in the day........ Unless they make some drastic improvements. Edit: heck I would love a standard leaderboard for all my cars times (, and friends), I want to know my fastest cars/builds on all the tracks.
The actual driving in the game is fantastic. It's everything else that's wrong mention in this video. Thankfully Turn10 sent out an update yesterday that outlines addressing all these shortcomings. If I'm being honest the game was not ready to ship, it's painfully obvious. It needed at least another 6 months in the oven. I'm sure it will be fixed with the first big update in March w/ the ring.. Love your videos btw.
don't think I've ever made T1 :( and my favourite saying of yours is we go where the good racing is and sadly there is literally barely any racing in Forza at the moment because you just find yourself in the Barrier :(
Well said , great review. I've actually moved back to ACC now as the frustration was to much regarding everything you said , but mostly the car setups are ridiculous how much advantage is gained , think they just need online pre-sets and leave the car setups for career to bring the racing closer ! wong help though as the game stands be testing some serious tyre barriers around the circuits out the way the racing is in there at the min. need something like a Competition server like on ACC for more serious sim racers get away from the mayhem
I'd replace the Forza days with the new LFM lineup on AC1! Theres some amazing racing to be had there, and there's even a dedicated mutliclass series there based on ISMA!
Yup. your on point. radar, penalty, and actually group people with the same rating together, not this first come first serve situation. when its good racing, its awesome. but there's so little of that lately.
I think the availability of Forza on game pass has a lot to do with the poor standard of driving. People haven't paid specifically to enjoy this game and are there just to create chaos.
This wouldn't matter if the safety rating and skill ranking actually did anything with who you got matched up with. T10 knows it doesn't work and still can't figure out how to fix it.
This is the most fun I've had on a racing game online without joining a league or something I don't understand how you're getting such bad lobbies, my lobbies over the last month have been great I hardly get any dirty drivers anymore in S lobbies with 4.9k safety rating. Some of my issues are the race length on GT changing to short because I like having pit stops in GT so I'd prefer if it was 1 short race and then the next is medium instead of a week of 1 length and where's long races. I would like a weather report or a weather radar because when it's a changeable race you don't know how hard the rain will be and if you need to change to wet tyres. The career mode is too bare and I don't like how the featured series doesn't stay. The penalty system is good imo yes it has it's weird issues but majority of the time it works like it should especially with track limits. (Edit, after a race I had today the penalty system can get in the bin)
The penalty system that assigns you penalties for someone else running into you is good? And the majority of the time? I've received more penalties from someone else hitting me than I've ever gotten from hitting someone else.
I couldn't agree more with, I've kinda stopped playing Multiplayer myself. However I'm sure Turn 10 released a statement addressing some of these issues like FRR and what there plan was moving forward
I bought this for my 6 yr old (nearly 7 ) son. He loves the game for crashing and bashing into racers. I keep telling him that its not the way. But he is only 6. Im sure he will grow out of it soon playing it online with his friends from school. I only play proper RACING sims on PC. Seems this ARCADE racing classic for children needs some love. I dont think the makers will be to bothered. Arcade racers like this are all about sales. If people stopped pre ordering games. Maybe that would send a message to the makers. Instead of giving the game a Thumbs up before its released 🤣🤣👍
For someone who is just entering the whole sim racing world it drives me crazy people crashing into you knocking you off the tracks and people not giving you space to get past them or breaking into a corner. I’m 39 and have always loved racing games and have just decided to get a Fanatec Wheel set but I cannot get used to tuning at all I just leave everything as it’s default it used to be so much better when you all have the same class cars and they couldn’t be tuned you just race and get to the end of the race get the best position bring back the better racing that’s my opinion
You are spot on with your comments about the game. I have always been playing both GT and Forza and I really like both of them. I am racing recent years on LFM/ACC only. I was so excited for Forza and yes I played through the honeymoon phase and I just got over the crashing 9 out of 10 times. It is frustrating that I can race in LFM which is a way more intense platform than Forza and crash only at worst 3 out of 10 races. I have decided in December to take a break from Forza in hope that they will update and upgrade the systems. I might come back to it if that is the case, otherwise if not it might be one of those I played limited hours on and eventually uninstall....
You are 100% right in everything you say and I think for the most part you are saying what the entire community are thinking, I was so looking forward to this too, My only interest is online racing and it is trash. How have they got it so wrong
I completely agree with you Rori. I made a comment on issues that need to be fixed on Hoki's video and there were things in your video that i completely forgot to include in that comment. At this point i'm convinced that Turn 10 really don't know how to make great simcade racers anymore. So either they step up and listen to player feedback or they have a change in leadership. Side note: The worst offence I have when it comes to FM is that it doesn't focus enough on motorsport and bring in new and modern cars. That or sticking it behind a pay wall.
Matchmaking is my biggest issue. I’m S/4980+, how can I be in lobbies with people 4-5 seconds slower who will smash you off track? The racing can be incredible, but it’s so rare. I generally have the most fun not qualifying and starting from the back. But even then, you just know you’ll encounter some idiots that will punt you first chance they get (but you’ll receive a penalty for it). Best thing you can do is find a big group of like-minded decent drivers to enter lobbies with. But it shouldn’t have to come to that.
I only still play it because of FOMO… and get the cars that who knows when they will re-appear again? For the moment I only set the AI to the lowest difficulty to rush through the singleplayer races, get the monthly cars and go back to FH5, ACC and GT7. I’ll continue checking out the game at all new updates, but I genuinely have no fun with it at the moment. Let’s see if Turn10 can turn that around in the near future. Fingers crossed.
i completely understand most of what you are saying. especially with the multiplayer. recently my friends and i we have been racing spec in a private multiplayer lobby and upgrading the same exact car and same upgrades tune everything identical so it completeley up to the skill of the drivers. increased penalty as well in private and full damage which i think should be in the open multiplayer to help combat some of the rammers. full damage would stop it for sure. love the videos and hope they turn the game around as i have been a forza fan for years. try hosting a private multiplayer and set your own rules and see if that is something you would continue to race in the game.
Agree 100%. Like many console related software releases, the post Xmas period is always poor as so many new inexperienced players come into lobbies, but for me the matchmaking may be brilliant, but the number of difference events means that the user base online at that time is reduced and therefore the spread of capability becomes wider. GT7 (much as we would love a fourth daily race) resolves this with only 3 online events meaning entries per event are huge and stratifying the ones for each lobby is easier. FM8 still has events I've seen with 10-15 entrants, rather than full lobbies, so everyone entering regardless of ability is by default in the same lobby.
Agree with everything you have mentioned. A few things to add: 1. Forza not only does not save replays but destroys files and then overwrites single-player replays 2. Crusher of the game. Every 4th or 5th race, after 25 minutes of practice and qualification game crashes. I only could say that at this moment I easily can say “Forza is 1 out of 10 game”. 3. User feedback is a nightmare! If you want to leave feedback you should go through hell of an ancient forum. “Check all previous topics on the forum, and tell us what was the weather in your grandma’s city when the bug happened,” they say. Cmon, I don’t want to spend 20 min to report a bug answering questions, answers for which you should have automatically.
All facts, thank you for giving it more exposure. Also, I might be tripping but I think they fixed the bumping/glueing thing between cars in one of the FM7 updates, only for it to be back in the new game. I've had this on my mind since day 1 but I didn't see anyone else bringing it up.
An actual "honest" review, we can sense your genuine disappointment. One question: is it worse because you are a creator, and when people see your tag, they ram you more? Thank you.
agree 100% with you Rory, I had my fun the first weeks the game got out with my wheel, managed to get my safety and score decent, after this period it started to be a wreckfest on each start. Penalties were frustrating AF and i decided to just play it for career mode and got on iRacing for multiplayer. Last week i thought i could go try and see if it got better..... it was even worse... can't even manage to overtake someone without them ramming me out of race. One time i managed to start p7 on road america and got wrecked right at the start witout even one turn....finished dead last with 25 seconds from the guy in "front". Got back on iRacing....
You're right on point here. I was playing this game non-stop when it first came out, but as time when on I became so frustrated with this game that I stopped playing
Well put together and the points are fair - hopefully they see and listen and repair - i dont play it but watch you alot and you can see the fun drain out of you......
The first I witnessed was that You start SR on S, that is the highest Rating. What is the meaning of that? The next thing ist the physics, especially the curbs. Sometimes You can drive them, some times the car keeps turning beyond saving and sometimes the Curb pulls you off Track and weirdest thing is, that pulling keeps going on. You steer straight in the Gras, but You still get pulled away from the Track. I don't feel stuff Like this in GT7, ACC or I Racing. This is very weird and gar away from a sim.
Totally agree with everything you said. I quit playing multiplayer and focus on single player and rivals. One thing I noticed though is that even the AI cars in single player drive like crap and will ram you off the track. I just don't see that happening with GT7 when I play single player. The last race I did in multiplayer I got rammed from the side because no one uses their brakes at the end of a long straight, I was hit so hard the car flipped a few times and threw me into the wall, and I got a 5 minute penalty! The driver who hit me got nothing! How is that even fair? I was slowing for the turn and in the middle of a turn and get rammed from the side and throw off track but I get a penalty. That was it I have yet to run another multiplayer race. The single player game is fun, rivals is a blast.
I don't understand why they bothered switching to having races scheduled at fixed times, since they immediately throw you in a practice lobby with the people you will be racing against. The whole point of fixed time races in other racing games is so that everyone registers in advance, and they can then create splits with proper matchmaking. You can't do that if you assign race lobbies to everyone as they come in, and it feels like their matchmaking claims are outright lies.
Just came across Hoki’s video saying exactly this! Seems like management at Turn10 really lost their way spending efforts and resources trying to impart an impression of greatness instead of creating a great experience. Great suggestions, trying to be different in aspects of importance like radar, is completely misguided. Hope they catch this before it reaches rock bottom.
I play iracing and ACC on pc with my wheel and treat them as sims. From day 1 I have played forza with a controller and treat it far more “meh” than the other games.I have reached 4994 skill with an S rating and agree matchmaking isn’t there. They need to introduce fixed setup series but I don’t know what can be done about the penalty system and dealing with the unfriendly drivers.I want it to get better and closer to the real sims which would inspire me to use my wheel but expect to just carry on treating it as almost an arcade racer! I’m new to your channel and fully respect your clean racing and your extreme patience and chill in certain situations.
In regards to radar - if they want the arrows theyve always had, why not have a radar vs not setting? I remember at one point fifa brought out new (better) controls quite a few years ago but they knew long time players would prefer "classic" controls... and they allowed that.
I wholeheartedly agree. I have been having quite a lot of fun though I must say. Despite the chaos, I hope Forza can get its grip back, cuz right now she’s spinning out
i agree 100% on this topic I've played it since launched on game pass if players took the time and practice the track and did some of those events in single player mode or did rivals
FM just has no soul compared to GT7.
@@SnakeNL24even also has no soul compared to even all the older PS1 Racing games like both Moto Racer games.😢
We want to love Forza.
Agreed
You can't love something that doesn't love you back.
But...
Crashes, bad fps.. I didn't even get a chance
Feel you man, I love forza, so sad that it’s missed so many marks. I know we all tired of games relaeasing full of problems but I really want them to fix all these things so we can love it again
I agree with all your points and want to add one more: the distinct lack of stat-tracking. I have no idea how many podiums I've gotten in my multiplayer career and I would really like to know
This is something that is so annoying. Anyone who is really playing this game wants to see that stuff. Just feels unfinished
and replays still don't work at least not on PC
I know exactly how many I have. 1.
I have 3 wins in GT7 from about 110 races and those wins feel like they mean something. Not won anything in FM and probably won't, but if I do it they will be forgotten

As I die hard Forza fan, I don't even need to finish this video to know I agree with you. Let's go Rory!
Totally agree with everything you say and I am a Forza fanboy, but you are right, time is running out quickly.

They need to add Open Track Day from fm7
It's not bad, it has broken features. The core forza physics are there and slightly improved, but the game has to work properly to race properly.
"Forza Bad Because Bad Game"
It really is that simple.
On top of all that, there is ZERO in terms of a career tracker, stats, or anything like that. It feels so barebones and casual.
I really enjoyed this video, as someone who religiously plays Forza, horizon & motorsport, everything you’ve said here just takes the words out of my mouth
Thankyou firstly for making this video and I’m excited to start watching more, it’s VERY good for us/people to voice our opinions publicly because if we don’t nothing will change.
Totally agree with you Rory absolute garbage racing with ppl who just punt you off track it’s sickening
The punting off track is the same in GT7. Can’t help players with zero driver etiquette. GT7 also mixes drivers with high and low SR ratings so it’s luck of the draw if you get a clean or dirty lobby
@@TCR_TheLanieKid at least the ghosting works to an extent in GT7
People go on and on about the bad driving but its exactly the same even in the elitist sim racing
The problem is Gamepass. Too many people play that wouldnt of purchased
the biggest issue is the frame rate.T10 says its 60fps for everyone sadly not FPS depends on your screen GHZ. So if its 120=60fps 240=120fps. And it gives competitive advantage
ive just shared the video on the turn 10 forum lets hope and pray they really do listen, and you are as always on point
Spot on. They can’t have other people seeing it because it would expose T10’s lie!
All we wanted was finally an improvement on Forza Motorsport 3 (4-7 have just been dlc with new maps & cars & graphics, but physics and game engine was basically the same)
We wanted
- More realistic crash damage
- More realistic options for tunes and after-market parts
- same legendary tracks as before, but with more track options
- more multiplayer game modes and better balance & flow in current modes
Instead we got
- Less realistic crash damages
- less realism for after-market parts and the same level of tuning as the past 5 games
- less track options than before
- less legendary cars than before
- worse multiplayer mode mechanics and matchmaking
- A steaming pile of shit that I paid money for🤦♀️
"This studio is not a small studio" and it's backed by one of the largest publishers.
Hate to see you do your best and no one seems to care out on track
Exp:
-pass 3 cars in a single lap.
Crashes on my Series X just after you've spent 15 mins practicing just before the race starts. Waste of time.
Good vid!
One point I want to mention:
Lot's of my friends drive in the cockpit cam and still use controllers.
And yes:
Radar is must!
The biggest thing Forza's penalty system has done is make you appreciate that GT7's penalties actually work more often than they don't. They still have dumb penalties like pit line crossing and hitting the wall, but that's a separate issue. It's working as intended, which is much more than can be said of Forza.
100% agree with everything here. They should ban tunes in lobbies like Forza GT and Forza Turing Car for example
I think fixing the matchmaking would solve a lot of gripes. I'd rather be in a half full lobby of S class 'clean' racers than a full one with rammers.
I stopped playing a while back because of the reasons your on about. I completely get it.
still can't believe this game won best sport/racing game at the game awards
I think all of your criticisms are spot-on. My two largest gripes about the racing itself come down to matchmaking and the penalty system.
The penalty system is a two edged sword. Without it you have dudes ramming you off the track, in fact with it people still ram you off the track. I have the same issues with Gran Turismos Penalty system.
Want to like it and play it but it consistently crashes for me after every 2-3 races. Very frustrating.
T10 lied saying this game was built from the ground up. I highly doubt they’ll fix a lot of the issues that plague the game.
Well said, Rory.
It seems a couple of racing leagues have stopped events until Turn 10 fix things.
As an xbox owner with a thrustmaster and not enough money to get a PC I feel trapped. I looked forward to this game for years and have been let down.
In my case I upgraded my PC, but looks like I should have bought a PS5 to play Gran Turismo 😒 Bought a new graphic card wishing you play this game, sometimes don't even start
@Gabriel-dj3kf I too wish I could play gt7. I hate that my thrustmaster wheel won't work on Playstation.
The races in the stream today were absolutely brutal! I don’t blame him one bit either.
Very well said Rory. Multiple bugs like the pit lane skip have been in there since launch and they still arent fixed. It extremely frustrating.
Hey bro! Good to see ya! 😂
@flyboystayfly7640 Hey man good to see you here 😃
I have a safety rating of S, a skill rating of 4700+ and you still get put into lobbies with 'people'' who want to use your brakes instead of theirs. It's not just once, twice or even three times, it's all the time. They won't fix it because they enjoy watching us hate each other. Thank you, that's my rant, enjoy the racing.
“They won’t fix it because they enjoy watching us hate each other.”
😂😂😂
Not just the issues you just mentioned
There is a big issue where the most grip cars are sliding!!!
Idk. It feels extremely close to 7 with some tweaks. Wet weather, in particular, is just horrible.
physics are far from best. cars turn even when wheel is locked. movement of the suspension is also really weird.
Feels about the same as it ever has, maybe heavier? Thats about it but i havent had to change my driving style AT ALL and ive been playing since FM2
nah bro lets not get too excited here, even if forza 8 released with everything that forza 7 had, it still wouldnt be close to being as good a game as 4 was, forza 7 was still missing MANY features that made forza 4 the great game it was
@@RogerT-kt3zdFM4 2011 is the gold standard for Forza. I can’t play any other forza because none even come close
The driving is nice but there is no way T10 spent 6 years on this game. If they did then they are just totally incompetent.
don't think I've ever made T1 :( and my favourite saying of yours is we go where the good racing is and sadly there is literally barely any racing in Forza at the moment because you just find yourself in the Barrier :(
"Built from the ground up" 😅
Well said , great review.
I've taken a break from MP in Forza. I want to enjoy playing it but the game crashes so often! It's normally in the menus which is mindboggling
It’s not an ‘S 4k’ lobby mate. Matchmaking does not take those ratings into account… it’s completely random!
@@leecolburn7849 Well whatever the matchmaking does mine is working
The penalty system that assigns you penalties for someone else running into you is good? And the majority of the time? I've received more penalties from someone else hitting me than I've ever gotten from hitting someone else.
@@GeekFurious Yeah I've had that happen to me but it's not always like that and it'll get better over the life cycle
@@mrc0a124 it’s not. You’re in a lobby with A’s, B’s, C’s, D’s and E’s - you just don’t know it because you can’t see.
Wow! I remember when you only had 10K subscribers and now you are over 100K!!!! Congrats Rory!
Couldn’t agree more played it since day one but found my self not playing it in the last few weeks for these exact reasons hope they get it sorted
I still remember how long Turn 10 dragged their heels to implement proper tire smoke and re-implement night time racing again.
Agree with everything you have mentioned. A few things to add:
1. Forza not only does not save replays but destroys files and then overwrites single-player replays
Thank you.
I've really been wondering about this as well.
agree 100% with you Rory, I had my fun the first weeks the game got out with my wheel, managed to get my safety and score decent, after this period it started to be a wreckfest on each start.
Also MFD and a proper tire system like street=hard/medium/softs. sport=hard /medium/soft. Race=hard/medium/soft and add more pit time
You're right on point here.
