Thank You for this video... definitely have put a pin into Luperon as my destination. I think your decision is a wise one. You have mentioned the challenges of isolation in your previous video. Staying in Luperon will provide You with that balance and You need.

Great choice, stay in Luperon. I loved the last point you made, to me sailing is about discovering new places and new people, I will choose to go on any day against going back to places I know and my "comfort zone", it is the real adventure, hard and unpredictable! But also the most rewarding way! Follow your hart, I'm sure you know deep down where we want to be !

Que lo que! If you are going to hold up, D.R is not a bad place to do so. I think you will enjoy the interior other places immensely. If you are wanting to take your adventure off the boat for a while, you have chosen wisely and couldn't ask for a better place.

Hey dan, we live off grid much of the time while we travel in our RV. I had originally planned on living in a sailboat with my wife and travel florida and the Caribbean, but the wife would not do it so that’s why we have been living full time in an rv for over 4 years. I am helping a buddy sail his 46ft c&c from Ontario, Canada to florida next year, so that’s why im watching sailing channels again. I bought a 360 camera last fall after i saw it on your channel, on my first time wing foiling in the obx, it snapped off and lost it in 6 feet of water so bummed. I just picked up an x4 for our summer trip and hope to make good use of it. I am going a lot of vlogging with the DJI action 4 matched with the DJI mic 2, much better than the go pro. Love to see a complete video of how you film and what cameras you use. I would love to go to the Bahamas some day to dive, but also love to kite and foil so hard choice. The keys is still my favorite place, i kept my boat in islamorada for 10 years, traveling from central florida for dive, kite trips. Sorry for the long comment, just blabbing. Thinking out loud. Larry

two points. You keep talking about freedom, but a dog will tie you down. You can't just leave if you have to. You'll need to find a shelter for the dog. I find it best to help the ones I come across (or cats) but don't go into getting involved that much.
As for the ukulele... I started with the regular ones, then moved to a solid body electric one. Oh... the fun! It can be (mostly) silent practice when unplugged, but then, adding one of those modeling amps, like Spark or others, it opens up so much fun. Get a low G string, and start playing surf rock, classic 80's rock, anything you fancy. The huge smiles you will have when discovering the things you can play with an electric uke is totally worth it. Anything from The Clash to Pink Floyd, with some Duran Duran sprinkled in there! :)

    Hey Dan,
The plan sounds good. The dog however, is a major cost and commitment and for someone in your situation, they’ll be a tie as much as a friend. I have a dog, and sail, spear and kite like you, my dog is 12 yo, and a great friend, but he is always there, meaning he has to be minded if I choose to go on a sailing adventure, he needs food and medicines and vaccines. I expect he will be with me for another 4-5 years until I can be truly free again. I wish he loved sailing but he hates water and the boat, so … A dog is similar responsibility to having a child if you are a decent owner. My advice is to stay free of obligation until you can commit to 15 years of responsible dog ownership. Enjoy your travels! 🤙

@@Adventureman_Dan You have to get Special Permission to visit Johnston Atoll from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, it’s a nature sanctuary. There are a few people that visit the location but no sailing RUclipsrs. It has a very interesting history, you should look it up (if you decide to go Pacific).

A dog on board is amazing. BUT consider vaccines, import limitations and how easy the the dog is to train. If you can't train the dog to go to the toilet on fake grass (which isn't hard) it will become painful for you and the dog. I have a dog on board and have seen many dogs tried and given up for adoption by cruisers.

Are you editing your own videos or hiring an editor? If it's a hire, it looks like you might want to feedback, there's a loit of repetition between cuts. It's like they're using several takes but in each take you're saying roughly the same thing. 5:05 as an example

What’s the rush… hang out in the DR for a while… then onwards. I have been in DR about 8 times. Kiting in cabarete mostly. Definite must go places are Las Terranas and Playa Rincón in the Samana peninsula. Also check out the coast south of Barahona and the jungles down there.
