Need this where I live. Double decker busses that are always full upstairs and you have to make the awkward walk down.

I remember seeing these monitors on the 141 when going to school. As mentioned in the vid it would’ve been cool if they added LEDs to the stairs instead 😂
Also it would’ve been better if the monitor just showed the seat number instead of showing the CCTV slideshow too, kinda defeats the purpose of the monitor. It’s a shame this feature didn’t make it to other buses, it was quite useful!

Thanks for making this - I had had several theories as to how they knew how many seats were free! The CCTV 'thinking a bag is a person' isn't a flaw though as it simply detects how many seats are free - not how many people are upstairs.

Would only work as a permanent display - not, as in the video, waiting for a few seconds for it to appear. No practical or efficient. And anyway why does it need to show back to passengers that they are being filmed?

AbstractMan23 improved if there is a fixed video of the top deck, while removing the TFL twitter watermark. Replacing the watermark with numbers of seats would make it a huge chang

Good to know the CCTV will respect the fact that my bag likes to have a seat too.

I like those displays. Wish more London buses have them. They are on the LT63 UJ* series and LT63 UHR registered buses that were on the 59 route but are now on the 319.

This is a three year old video, yet the technology is not rolled out to all busses. What a shame.

Actually I suspect this is a major reason this technology might not go ahead. Bus companies do seem to take a lot of notice of complaints.

Another more expensive yet interesting thing is to use pressure pads in seats for this. Who thinks it will work?
Oh hold on there isn’t going to be any replies anyway

one step further - in the travel planner app - or tfl app - something which shows londoners and tourists the routes to go. To avoid route planning on full busses - or at least warn that it could be completely full...

The display should be on window beside the door(s) so the passenger can see before getting on the bus.

141 is a HV? And very new deckerate and this should have green lights in the stairs. This is a good route. Sometimes it a Streetdeck, Gemini 3 and Enviro400 often.

***** Singapore had this technology for about a decade starting with the newest Volvo Olympians along with the Volvo Super Olympian.Unlike this one,the sensor is installed along the staircase instead of using CCTV Technology.
      Anyways,It has the same function
