I watched your video. You did give me ideas, primarily shape of how I will do my sewing room. I noticed in the video you had a little helper and your husband standing by. I giggled when you said you were a military family. I was also so got the use of metal braces. I thought all things considered you did a marvelous job. If you ever wanted to re-do the corner you could still make a herringbone corner separate from the 2 sides that would make it even easier to move in the future. I've got a few moves under my belt also.
Of all the craft desk videos I've been researching, yours is my favorite. Thank you for the inspiration. Please, Thank your husband for his service. My husband is a disabled veteran and we pray for all who still serve.
@@Jpetramala16 So true! I do miss those days, but am glad I'm now in one place. We spent 20 years in the Air Force. My first sewing machine came from the Exchange in Sasebo, Japan, my first sewing machine came from Edwards, AFB, Ca. Many fond memories and many good friends.
I'm going to build a craft desk for my wife while she's away and I've been hunting for ideas. This is the best I've come across and will make a version of it with wall cabinets as well. Nice job.
You did a fantastic job there, and the plates are just for belt and braces, makes sense from a military family. Also the square hack is fantastic and a money saver for a very stylish design. I'm a bit of a RUclips addict and watch woodworking videos a lot, and this was refreshing to see from the professional productions everywhere else. Thanks for the content.
I think you kicked butt…. Awesome job. The only additional item I might have added would be a matching L shelf along the back. To double your storage and keeping your desk with more surface. As we all have so many items we want within our reach. Yayyyyy you for tackling such a big project and doing an awesome job.
Oh my goodness, I LOVE that you planned and made this essentially on your own! You rock!!! I have been contemplating making. A cutting table for my sewing room because they want a small fortune for the store bought ones. I absolutely love your and the wall behind it. Best video I’ve seen to date! As a military mom, I’m super proud that you are also a military family so please thank your husband for his service. Our son served as a US Marine and while he is out of the service now, once a Marine, always a Marine. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸. I’m subscribing!!! 💕
You should be very proud of this desk and I appreciate you uploading this video! As far as being worried about moving them, I was in the military and you don't have to worry about that because even if you take care of it...when the movers show up to pick up your household goods when you move......they will break it for you. My wife and I have had things stolen and pieces of furniture destroyed when PCSing. Not sure what branch you guys are in but I was in the Air Force. Thank you for your service and God bless you!
Thank you so much for you kind comment. We are an Air Force family. We are fortunate enough to say nothing has been damaged or lost in our PCS moves. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Thank you for your service.
I am sorry to hear you had hard times moving. My husband is in the Air Force as well. We have been through 4 moves, once of which to Belgium and back. I was surprised nothing was missing and only a couple of minor things broken. Knock on wood that streak continues. Thank you for your service as well and thank you for the wonderful comment.
You did a great job! One suggestion: sawhorses! It hurts my back to see people working on projects on the ground. They really are pretty cheap, and fold up for storage.
Beautiful job. Your desk is very similar to one I just made, and I wish I had come across your video before I made mine because I learned a lot from you.
I LOVE this desk Jessica!! You seriously did a FABULOUS job for building an entire desk for the first time!!! You should be very proud!! AND you really have inspired me to try and build my own!! I'm hoping it will be cheaper plus like you said its something that is even more special because it is customized for you and made by you!. Thank you so much for sharing, AWESOME JOB!!! Amy (lewes, De)
Awesome desk!!! I absolutely love it!!!! I have a counter top with 3 Alex drawer units for storage in my craft room. In the future, when I want to change this which I haven’t had it a year yet, something exactly like u did or very close to your desk is at the top of my list!!!! Beautiful desk!!!!
I love love love your craft table build!!! I may have to try and copy you. It looks perfect for my situation. Thanks for sharing. I’ve been looking around and was getting frustrated all the craft tables I either couldn’t afford or wasn’t going to work in my space.
nice looking desk, you could have painted your trim band then stained the top and put the poly on the whole surface it will have protected the painted surface also. One tip about painted wood if possible use spray paint it goes on smoother and less streaking. I do like the herringbone pattern you did though for a novice very nice and well done.
I want to thank you so much for posting this!! I just finished making mine thanks to your design and directions!!! ❤️🥰 wish we would share photos so I can show you how mine turned out
I love this! I am designing my craft room and have a corner where I wanted extra areas that could be for several people to work. This is a perfect design and you did a beautiful job! Thank you for sharing! Subscribed 🌸
Love it!! And really love the herringbone in the L corner!! My craft room is moving upstairs to a large room with eaves rather than the 9' ceilings I'm used to so I've been looking for better storage options. This is definitely on my favorites list. You took your vision from idea conception to completion. That's pretty terrific; not to mention your finished product looks wonderful. I bet you love the extra storage!
Lisa Rutherford Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. I hope your new office turns out amazing. I absolutely love the storage. I also have a time lapse video posted of me painting my accent wall. Let me know if you have any questions.
Sweet girl, 💕 You, and your yummy hubby, should be so very proud of yourselves. Y'all have done amazing! I am so particular, I have delayed building, having custom built, or buying what I have in mind. I love this! What an inspirational custom build. With a few alterations, requirements and preferences, I may go with your amazing build! Much love and appreciation from Texas! 🥰💕
By the way my name is Steven and my brother name is Mark. I would love to leave you some information on where I live but I don't want to leave it on here cuz it's too personal. If you do contact me maybe if we get to know each other maybe we can make arrangements down the road on that. I really do hope to hear from you and your husband please talk it over amongst yourselves and see if this is something you would love to take on and try to teach a new woodworking man on how to do projects like RUclips can tackle. God bless you and your whole family. I just wanted to let you know that I just watched your video on you building your workbench. And I want to let you know that I think you did a absolutely great job on it. And I think I could learn a lot from you I'm just like you I don't know much about woodworking or measuring basically I suck at measuring really to be honest I don't even know how to read a tape measure very good I'm ashamed of myself being a man I should know that. I really would love to meet you one of these days in person maybe I could learn a lot from you and your husband if you feel comfortable about doing that I would be really excited about that. I got two projects I want to turn into a nice workbench for me and my brother. I have two stack on reloading benches that I would love to turn into one big workbench for me and my brother I would love to show you some pictures of them maybe you can give me some ideas on how to do it or maybe we can make some arrangements together maybe I can meet you. I have some ideas how I would like to redo them to make them more usable they made of solid metal they got some particle board tops but they got to still pegboard on top of them with a shelf it's got one drawer underneath the work surface. And it's got one show in the middle and a bottom shelf. I would like to redesign them to where I could use a normal either a normal adjustable workbench chair or I could use a regular desk chair but they sit so high up. I need help redesigning them to make them more usable for me and my brother. I would like to upload some photos of what they look like so you can see what I'm talking about but I don't know if I could do it on RUclips or not. You and your husband did pretty damn good job on building what you build for yourself and I would like to have your guyses help redesigning mine. So if you could let me know how I could send you some photos of the stack on reloading benches that I have that I would love to turn into a good crafting station for me and my brother let me know how I could get you some pictures of them sent to you too maybe you can give me some pointers or direct me in the right way on how to do it. I really do hope you receive my message here soon I would love to get in touch with you and see if we can make arrangements. Together maybe there's some help you guys could give me. I'm not for sure exactly where you to live at but hopefully it's close to where I live that would be absolutely amazing.
You are brilliant! This is giving me inspiration. I'm in the process of building my craft room which gave me nothing but headache. This is excellent and thank you for sharing your ideas
That’s a beautiful desk! Great job! I didn’t read all the comments so this may have been said already. You could still use the biscuits where both tops join, just don’t use glue. This will help them stay aligned over time. Well done though. It looks great :)
Just came across this by searching in an attempt to build a desk for myself; I love yours! Fantastic job! I also love the wall behind it; is that wallpaper or paint? Thanks for sharing!
A ton of work! I would have just used solid wood and either painted faux planks on it, or glued super thin wood planks for the "look". It came out beautiful though. I just felt bad at how much work you did!
B Bear Thank you for your comment and opinion, but I wanted to do the work and I am proud of the result. I couldn’t be more happy. Everyone has their ideas of what they would do. Good luck if you take on your own project.
Hi great job on stain. I can't do this in my apartment - also need more flexibility of placement. I have refinished furniture often so great job! Another air force vet!😀😀😀
I have been looking for a design for my new office and I like yours. Every build can be done different and better (hind sight is 20/20) but it looks great and you can say you built it yourself. One comment: protect your eyes! (please) You only have one set and eye protection is inexpensive.
You should be proud of what you've achieved and you admit you've learned from the build. I think the end result is fabulous. I do like your innovative join I never thought of that but it has given me an idea for my own though. But I bet it's given you a taste to do more :-)

Found your video very useful. Kudos on trying and accomplishing a custom furniture.

How did you attach the table top to the organizers?
Please make homemade diy large table for crafting
Nice job😊
I'm totally inspired!! Can anyone tell me if a drill press and dowels can replace the biscuit Joiner tool, if I don't have that tool

the desk looks nice, instead of the metal plates you could have use a square board and screw it into the the 2x4s. still it looks nice
Very nice work. This is a good inspiration for an upcoming project of mine!
