It was in the insurance contract that anyone who played organized basketball above the high school level was prohibited from participating and he played in college, so the insurance company that was supposed to pay the winner wasn't being shady. He technically shouldn't have been allowed to attempt it. And Jordan and the other players didn't make it right, the sponsors of the event, Coca-Cola and the restaurant and the Bulls organization, paid him.
It wasn't Jordan that made it right it was the Bulls organization. My completely vibes-based take is that your team has bad chemistry if you're not celebrating one of your fans making a half-court shot. That shit should be joyous.
For some perspective, LBJ has about 40,000 career points and made $480M, which is $12,000 per point or $36,000 for a half-court three-pointer. The guy he hugged made twice as much... but only once.
My first nba game, Nuggets at pacers, a guy hit a half court shot for 10k. They gave him 2 shots originally but he was so close on the 2nd they gave him one more shot and he hit it. The stadium went crazy lol

Man in all fairness, all these shots should be $50K or more you gotta look at the scope of the shot. You’re on national tv and The NBA is a multibillion dollar organization 😂
I can't believe anyone actually makes these shots. The amount of pressure as a civilian getting out there and making a shot that most NBA players can't make on the first try is crazy.
I wanted to do the math on that first one because it is a lot more than $4.25. It is $4.25 for the whole audience. So I found the game, it was 11/20/2017 Jazz at 76ers. The attendance was 20,587 (he also had to hit a layup and a free throw in addition, but that was cut from the clip). So he actually won $87,494.75. He just didn't get to use all $87,494.75, but Chick Fil A paid that much for his half court shot.
