just got back from a week up there and this video made me cry. it’s nice to see how lovely that place is, because i only got to see the storm torn version. ❤
The wife and I did a quick trip to Burnsville last October. We ate at Pig & Grits and stayed at the little motel next door, which is owned by a very nice young couple. We drove over to Spruce Pine to a farm where they raise Highland cattle and the wife enjoyed petting them. Neat area.
awe man! you missed the Dark Sky Park and planetarium! its home of one of The Good of the Hive Murals and is an International Dark Sky Park and has the South East Largest Telescope for public use!
Love Burnsville. Haven't been there since 1990s and now live in Florida. Don't know if I will ever get to go back up there. Found some genealogy info at the courthouse.
Like you was driving in hqy 19 west that you get on off interstate 26 at Ernestvulle, TN to drive across the mountain into Burnsville. When I traveled over to Burnsville thw 2 nd weekend in June I traveled on interstate 26 to just past nc welcome center then I took hwy 19 east into Burnsville. I went Iverson there to attend the western nc bigfoit & dogman conference. Them mountains are home to cryptids.
My Grandparents had a home in Burnsville when I was a young teenager. I have so many memories there. Thank you for visiting and posting about it. It’s been so long since I’ve been there. It’s so good to see it again. 😊
*Can't be more wonderful when watching interesting videos like this at the weekend. Very alluring. Wishing you a weekend full of joy and happiness!👍👌🤝🙏*
Fun fact!! I grew up in the area where Otway Burns lived and is buried. He was a privateer and his ship was the 'Snapdragon'. There's a similar statue on the waterfront in Swansboro NC. His home was in the Swansboro area as well. He was buried in Beaufort NC. Pronounced 'bow-fort'. His grave is a stone crypt and has an original cannon from his ship on top. It's in an old graveyard with graves that predate the revolutionary war. It has many unique graves besides his. A young girl that died at sea while on a voyage with her ship captain father is buried in a barrel of rum. He promised his wife he'd bring her back no matter what. Even a victim of Blackbeard is supposedly buried in there. He did visit the town frequently and stayed at a tavern that still stands and is a house now. I love small towns as well and enjoy seeing them with y'all.
My husband and friend discovered Pig and Grits last Fall and were very impressed We’re having a family vacation, our kids and grands in Spring Mountain, and looking forward to eating at Pig & Grits. Burnsville is one of our favorite mountain towns. Thanks for the great tour!
I lived in Burnsville for about 14 years. I still have family there, and Pig & Grits is my favorite restaurant to visit when I go there. The town has grown a lot since 1999 when I first moved there. I've camped at Toe River, so I'll be looking for that video.
We're thinking of moving to North Carolina next year. Possibly somewhere near Cherokee but I really don't know. We need somewhere that has lower price rent. But higher paying jobs any ideas or suggestions of a good place to move.😮
Depends on the type of employment you are looking for. As someone who has lived in the mountains of NC all of my life I would highly recommend any of these counties: Watauga, Avery, Mitchell, or Yancey. The closer you get to Asheville the higher the rent is.
Mike and Karen, thank you for taking me along with you on your travels! What beautiful scenery and mountains and town! Especially the old buildings and shops! I bet Big T enjoyed his day. Your food looked so good. Love y'all and God Bless!❤️
Always love your class B adventures 😊🐾❤️. Love to hear the squeaky floors and tin ceilings, it reminds me of the shops when I was growing up. I believe Big T would say, he. still needs supper🤔😀🐾 The flowers are staw flowers. Thanks for sharing 🤗❤️🐾
While I'm watching your new videos I always Google the name of these small towns. I seems like their all within 50 or 60 miles of each other. This town is definitely our kind of place. Looks like this fall we're going to northwest NC and put some miles on. Thanks folks, God bless.
Those pink flowers are called strawflowers also known as everlasting flowers. They retain their color after drying and have been used for centuries in flower arrangements because they last for years. When I lived in Michigan, I was able to grow them but since I moved to East Tn, I haven't had much luck with them. Really enjoyed your video. Love visiting small towns.
Nice little town. My highway of hope has pot holes in it. 😁 Hey 👋 to my man, Big T. Hugs 🤗 and kisses 😘 to you. I'm so glad you got to get out and enjoy the town. Thanks for sharing another great video. Be safe, have fun, and God Bless ❤️
Did you see the NuWray Inn on the square in Burnsville? It was wonderful when we stayed there. A large white house that was great for an overnight stay.
Good afternoon Mike and Karen I hope you all are doing well very nice little town seems like that they are coming to thing of the past so sad till next time take care God bless
Sorry guys, I have been working on a boat resto and a motorcycle resto. I am almost thru but I am back you know I missed the southern twang. Being I am from the T states.
Again quaint downtown shopping still thrives and so happy to join these towns with charm and character. The large tree was majestic! Reminded me of a picture I had that was called, The Tree of Life. Peace be with you and enjoy the 4th of July.
