At the beginning yeah. But are you going to tell me someone like Sonny Kiss deserves to be on TV? Or someone like Avalon? They need to stay on RUclips and be one there. AEW is going to be letting contracts run out and then keep a balanced roster.

@@epicpandachris7281 the best part of WCW was the guys on the same level Sonny Kiss is now. It was the Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, LA Parkas that put in the work. They died because of the old WWE guys they paid a ton to. Sound familiar? Christian, Punk, and Danielson combined probably make more than the entire ALL IN card.

He doesn’t have to put them in factions, but it helps younger talent and tag team wrestling in general.
@@Stumme-40203 look at guys like Malakai Black, Andrade, Keith Lee for example. They’re all better off as singles competitors but TK had to group all of them with people because he feels the need to book everyone on the show.

You don't want a bunch of talented people wasting their time behind the big guy while you do a few matches here and there and most are to help out the main guy your behind. Look at what they did to undisputed era. They were a great faction in nxt that all were on the same level of talent. In aew Adam Cole is booked strong and the rest are there to be his backup.

Hogan, Nash and Hall were all on multi-million dollar contracts and had free reign on how they were booked.
AEW is not making anywhere near the same mistakes that led to the downfall of WCW.

@@justysworld433 they have over 120 wrestlers signed for 3 hours of TV per week. That’s a lot of wasted funds and doesn’t include the potential of a separate ROH roster to come in the future. He just can’t help himself when somebody comes up as a free agent

So basically WWE is cutting talent to prevent a WCW and AEW is signing everything and doing nothing. This guy has Zero self awareness.
Agree with AEWs faults here but WWE isn’t cutting talent to avoid a WCW. Vince is well beyond ever going under. They are just cutting talent for bottom line numbers and I believe it has hurt them, but not from a business stand point.

The ONLY problem WCW had was their owner, AOL TimeWarner, who totally messed up the entire Turner organization with their disastrous merger/takeover. They didn't think wrestling had a place on TNT/TBS. The now renamed Warner Bros Discovery admitted they were wrong by putting AEW on TNT/TBS. The sale of WCW to WWE was a massive mistake.
Lmfao yes!.. one of my biggest pet peeves in AEW has been the endless growth of their roster. TK also said he didn’t want to hire more talent than he was able to properly utilize… FAIL! Guy has signed far too many people.

A lot of people should realize this has to be an interview from a while back, probably early 2021 at the latest. He still is wearing glasses. We know he didn't achieve his final Herb Abrams form of "Cocaine Tony" yet.
If he was saying this with his wilder hair, no glasses, and louder tone of voice, I would say this was him speaking now.
Clearly the growth of AEW has gone to his head, as well as the partying, and is since making these key mistakes WCW made
Yet he's doing exactly that. He's more concerned about being one of the boys than being a boss.

Isn’t this what AEW is doing. It seems like they just snatch a WWE runaway. Give them a debut match, then you rarely see them.
When WCW started to solely be fixated on NWO, Goldberg and Sting, and talented wrestlers like Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, Ultimo Dragon, Rey Mysterio, and many other young talents were pushed aside and never given shine, is when the company really was when it was startling to crack. WWE is making the very same mistakes today.

Funny thing is if you look at Tony Khan early on, he’s a lot more professional. I’m not sure if it’s stress, drugs, people pleasing, narcissism, or some combination of them but not only does he appear more physically ragged nowadays, but he also comes off as less socially adept and composed.
