    Your demos always have good quality. I like the cello part the most. The sound of audio imperia is huge!!

    I also love Audio Imperia. To the question you ask "what does Nucleus not have? Well they are missing something very important in cinematic music: Tubular Bells. I hope they add them in next update.

    Nice video and a smashing track, Kevin. I am a beginner composer (hobbyist) just purchased Nucleus which is awesome. Currently Areia Lite is on sale and I consider buying it. But if they share a lot of samples I probably shouldn't.

    Meanwhile I have a lot from Audioimperia and I love it to create powerful orchestral music. The instruments are direct, powerful and dry (no effects). Must recommend them. But I would hope for more loyality pricing like heavyocity is doing. For example paying again/full price for the fluid section if having talos, Jaeger and Nucleus? Hmm.

      Love the dry samples. Lets me mix their libraries with other dry sample libraries into the same hall reverb.

    I bought myself into the VSL ecosystem when they had a sale back then. It caters to the more delicate sound and enables you to compose more complex stuff. That influenced my whole writing style. The Audio Imperia products sound pretty limited to obnoxiously loud trailer music. Reminds me of Symphonia, which is tremendously limited in its own way.

    I prefer EW Hollywood Opus to Audio Imperia (just barely), but they are both my absolute favorite libraries out right now. (Abbey Road from Spitfire is also useful.)

    Great video, its also worth noting that all Audio Imperia non-player kontakt libraries are 70% off right now. (Which includes the amazing jaeger vocals!)

    Hey, thanks for the overview. I have a couple questions for someone more familiar with Audio Imperia's offerings
    I read everywhere that these are good STARTER libraries. Do they hold up past the starter phase? Will you need to upgrade eventually, or are they going to handle advanced production just fine?
    Are they capable of softer, subdued styles? I see there is a Classic/Modern switch, but I couldn't find much examples of the first mode in action. Demos are usually on the epic trailer music side
    Orchestral library costs get absurd pretty fast, so I'm looking for well-rounded, versatile solutions. Thanks

    The real problem with Audio Imperia is the overlap of samples. Nucleus has the same sample set of Talos - the entire brass section comes from older libraries. I think something similar happens in Areia with Jager. The company seems to repack. The second problem with strings are the dynamic layers: I’m convinced that most of the time it’s not dynamic, just volume. I Don’t know.

    • @DarnKatarn
      @DarnKatarn 9 месяцев назад +1

      I had to comment after seeing your post. The same thing did happen with Areia; there's some added articulations, but it is the same core as Jaeger & Nucleus, which is ridiculous.
      And yes, the dynamic layers are quite challenging to deal with. I also suspect that the volume fluctuates, not the dynamics.

    LOVE Audio Imperia and everything they do. Cine-who? Metropolis what? Not to mention 8 Diablo. Audio Imperia puts them to unpurgeable shame. Do we have trumpets for Talos yet?

    Great video. I’m was looking at &Albion’s One, but it seems Nucleus has a little more variety. You think the lite version is hood to start with and it seems Nucleus blends with other libraries.

    • @KevinKuschel
      @KevinKuschel  2 года назад

      Nucleus has individual section control, which Albion doesn't. Check out my sample library for beginners video (I linked to it in your other comment). Nucleus LITE is great to start, but it only offers ensemble patches. So you won't be able to write separate violin, viola, cello, bass lines as effectively. Albion only has split patches e.g. high strings = violins + violas and low strings = cellos and basses.
      If you are looking to write orchestral music, it's probably worth going for individual section control directly. Else you might feel limited.

  • @DLudgater

    Is it still possible to get the Merethe vocals separately? It looks like Audio Imperia removed any mention of it from their website.

    Any point getting Talos or Cerebus if I already have Solo, Nucleus and Jaeger ? Seemed there is an overlap I noticed after getting Aeria too.

    Hey, do you know how exactly that Audio Imperia gets the tone in the "Modern Mix"? I have been trying to emulate this in other libraries for a long time but still can't figure it out?
    Do they use Reverb? How to they EQ it? How can i get the same sound manually with other libraries? It is exactly the sound i love!

    • @KevinKuschel
      @KevinKuschel  Год назад

      Not sure what exact processing they do for the modern mix. There is probably some multiband compression going on. Try downloading XFer OTT (free), apply it to your strings or brass. Set it between 10% and 30% to hear the effect it does.
      Perhaps there is also an Exciter used. And surely some sort of EQ, perhaps to brighten up the higher frequencies more? :) I would first try to see how far OTT can get you for that more modern, direct sound.

    • @svendkorsgaard9599
      @svendkorsgaard9599 Год назад

      @@KevinKuschel Okey man thank you so much! I will definitely try that!
      I also just discovered that it's better to use more of the close mic positions to get that more well defined sound!

    • @svendkorsgaard9599
      @svendkorsgaard9599 Год назад

      Just an update. Since then i have bought nucleus. I was using hollywood orchestra Opus. I came to the conclusion that what opus really lacks for that huge orchestra sound, is the low-end. I think no amount of mixing will fix it. Hollywood Orchestra also has that very realistic john-williams type of sound, which isn't what i was going for. I was going for the TSFH, hans-zimmer, hybrid sound.
      All in all, the library does matter. But I am satisfied now with using nucleus.

    Great video! I have Nucleus and it's a great starting product for composing epic music. For Areia, I know that its weakness is the legato even though AI is coming out with an update soon for it. On most demos that I've heard, the legato doesn't sound as bad as some people claims it to be. Do you overlap the end of the notes to compensate for the legato?

    • @KevinKuschel
      @KevinKuschel  2 года назад

      Legato notes have to be overlapped to trigger the legato articulation. It doesn't matter if 10ms or 1s overlap, it will sound the same.
