Not a musician, and don't know this software. But this is a genius at work. I suppose I could learn the software, but the EMOTION that this guy understands and brings out in music is priceless.
I watched this two years ago, and getting this was the BEST start to my musical journey. It's so cheap for what it's for and it's available for Kontakt Player so a low barrier to entry. 10/10 library and works wonderfully for an orchestral foundation.

Hey Guy! Great review and nice track you've composed there in just 60 mins! On behalf of the Audio Imperia team, I want to say thank you for taking the time to create this :)
Oh shit you are on Audio Imperia team?!! Thank you so much for making it a kontakt "player" library (although i bought the full kontakt later), it really is a great library, for beginners and pros alike! I use it in all my compositions :D
Great kudos for this library. To me, as a hobbyist, who will never do a money out of music, as I'm doing it solely to my own pleasure, I would never buy a full version of Kontakt. Now, having to spend as little as $100 in total (as it's using Player) - I can afford this, finally (without being killed by my wife ;) ). So yeah, a big thank you!

Fourty five years ago I decided not to pursue a career in the music business and that was the right decision. Now I'm astonished how cheap good instruments are - virtual or not - and I'm having a great time playing again. I've spent less than half the money I spent when I was seventeen - and I've got way more possibilities now than I dreamed of then. I hope to see young people make bands again - it's so much more fun - but I enjoy being able to play a grand piano and conduct a big orchestra.

a cool little trick I use in almost every one of my compositions (This is in regards to the reversing samples into each other) I get the initial transient and put an extremely abnormal amount of reverb on it. I then render that out into an audio file, cut off the transient so you are left with the reverb tail and reverse that. it makes a really cool effect to sweep into a section.

They’re super simple to use and can sound pretty good. I built a huge template, based on your Template in a Weekend Program using several of Garritans libraries. Admittedly, they don’t compare in size to most of the Pro libraries, but the sheer amount of instruments you get and the efficiency of the Aria Sample Player is pretty amazing! I only bring it up because the price point is, comparable to the one you just used. It’s only $150 for GPO 5. It’s a good library for beginners, professionals and composers with limited resources. I hope you have a great day. Jonny

Hey Guy, I like that you are attempting to do something for people that are starting out and short on budget. I would love to see you make a song (or score) with Spitfire LABS. It is completely free, including the sample player - and they add fantastic new sound packages all the time! So that's why I'd love to see you using this entirely free library. The artist in me dreams about the great music, Chopin, Bach or Mozart could create with nowadays technology. The realist in me realizes, they probably would work in a dull office job in public service or in an insurance company to make a living. Cos there are no lords anymore, who support artists at their court and you need a lot of publicity, clever marketing (therefore a lot of money) and a bunch of connections to make it as a pop star* nowadays. * Mozart was a pop star at his time.
if you reach that level of composing, all you need is paper, pen, and piano (for example sound). Example, you work out orchestration and structure on your head. It takes me a while. i able to understand reading sheet music for symphony like a whole orchestra playing.
Here's the thing, those people could hear the music in their head and translate it directly to paper. This is a skill that most of the best musicians have. This is how Beethoven wrote four symphonies while he was deaf. These types of tools probably wouldn't have made their music better, as the biggest influence on their music was the culture they were surrounded by.
I've just begun taking classes from ThinkSpace and was beginning to look for an orchestral sample library to begin... it would appear that I've found it! Thanks for such a fun AND educational video, Guy!!
I just needed to made a comparison. So.... Shot my Granny with a Glock and silencer. Should have left the silencer off as the sample sounded a bit too dull in the mix. Still, you live and learn (apart from Granny of course). Thanks for another fab vid Guy.👍
I used it a ton and absolutleyy you can achieve great things with it. Though the accessability regarding depth of that library might be offsetting for many. I especially love the Cellos and Oboe in the first Miroslav Philharmonik.
Yes! I thought I was the only one hearing this! There's a crackling sound. I have this same problem on my computer everytime a sound starts (from ANY sound source) and I don't know how to fix it!
It's probably caused by the low buffer size he is using. To demonstrate what he is doing while recording, he might have set the buffer size lower so that he doesn't have to deal with the delay.
I've no idea how or why the YT algorithm popped this into my purview, but I'm glad it did. No idea what Guy is talking about but I like the way he does it.

Hi Guy, I'm new to your channel, I'd be really glad if you could answer me this, I see that during your process you didn't touch a single compressor or EQ yet the track sounds absolutely majestic and full. Mixing has always been one of my weak points and I was wondering if you did any post processing after this video or if you can achieve a high quality sound with the presets alone just by adjusting volume while composing the score on the go like you did. Thank you,
I LOVE your channel but this video was worth it just for the Cubase nugget of how you can offset bar #1! Wow. I've needed to know that for ages. Thank you! 😃
Epic. I mean, there's not much else to say. I watched this while I tried to compose something and even though he did that in 1h, and I did a very small fraction of what he did in 2h, it helped a lot.
Fascinating watching the process. I can afford the $99, but I have an extreme lack of education & training in music, and I'm too damn lazy to practice. I can however be proud that after 53+ years I still know how to play the same three cords on a guitar that I learned in the late 60s. I will be back to watch more of your videos however...
This was amazing! I've been having a writers block for close to a week now which feels like a lifetime and I feel so inspired now! I don't even write film music but I'd love to use some of this in my dubstep tracks! Thank you so much
Good points - this one is for Kontakt Player, so no additional costs. I found the sound on my RUclips video congested - so not sure if that would be the case with the real thing, but the supposedly loud thumps sounded as though a compressor was kicking in just before the thump. Might protect one's ears but the sucking out effect is not something I'd want to have.
I've tried time and time again to learn music. I still love playing about with it especially in DAWs but I never have the commitment to finish anything I start in terms of music. One of these days I'll devote proper time to it again...

GUY MICHELMORE!You are simply FANTASTICO!Your explanation is UNIQUE!Great diction and passion!Keep up your great work!
16:13 me when i say i can play piano
Only virtusos can play Chopin with just their index fingers
Guy, this chord progression is absolutely genius! Incredible composer and content creator.
Which is?
Praise the RUclips algorithm that randomly tosses such delightful channels at my wall.
I've just begun taking classes from ThinkSpace and was beginning to look for an orchestral sample library to begin... it would appear that I've found it! Thanks for such a fun AND educational video, Guy!!
I'm sold. That Intro is lush and you sir are electric Good Job Cheers!!!!!!!!
I just needed to made a comparison. So.... Shot my Granny with a Glock and silencer. Should have left the silencer off as the sample sounded a bit too dull in the mix. Still, you live and learn (apart from Granny of course).
Thanks for another fab vid Guy.👍
jesus christ, paul
Thanks for the demonstration and nice composition my brother in DAW! 🙂
it's a nice sound actually
the sound: zum*CLICKzum*CLICK*CLICK
I always thought that a lot of dance music started off when some stoner sent the click through some heavy processing.
I love these videos. You made the music for a railway documentary crossed with "I vow to thee my country".
That is my musical life right there :)
I thought I heard a cheeky little Holst quote.
I'd pay to see the mixing process of this particular track.
What a great introduction to orchestra. I couldn't believe what you achieved with this inexpensive library. Thank you!
If anyone's interested, I have Miroslav Philharmonik and it's a pretty amazing plugin
I used it a ton and absolutleyy you can achieve great things with it. Though the accessability regarding depth of that library might be offsetting for many. I especially love the Cellos and Oboe in the first Miroslav Philharmonik.
I really wasn't expecting to enjoy this video this much!
Is anyone else hearing distortion when he plays the samples?
@@Morgenmaane Try using higher buffer size to get rid of the popping noises.
It's a metronome, to get the timing right. You can hear it plays the bpm constantly (130 bpm), so it's not caused by a low buffer size or anything.
@@InterfearenceNL you can hear it when the metronome isn't playing if you use headphones, so it's not the metronome
I’m SOO glad that both Project Sam’s Free Orchestra AND this work with the free Kontakt Player!
He reviews Imperia then he speaks Italian and the Internet falls :P
Thanks for testing this sir.
Youre welcome :)
Very inspired and talented, congratulations! Thanks for reviewing this library!
I play this when I finally vacuum up the paperclip off the floor, after I've ran it over 20 times.
A truly dramatic moment if ever there was one.
@@Nine-Signs Tell me about it. I will be attacking the penny on the floor next, with such tenacity and ferociousness this world has yet to see.
I've no idea how or why the YT algorithm popped this into my purview, but I'm glad it did. No idea what Guy is talking about but I like the way he does it.
I could see myself spending a lot of time composing music after I retire just for the pleasure of it. learning keyboard and garage band now.
Love these videos and the passion and enthusiasm he shows for making music. Inspires me to jump back into the studio after I feel defeated from a long session.
youth : old guys are boring and depressing and complaining about today too much.
this guy :
Are you speaking about german people? Because british men are like this.
@@saporob On the contrary, I know some German elderly people who are pretty joyful and some really boring British old farts.
This is why you don't judge people ONLY by their nationality or ethnicity. It almost always *doesn't* work. Not in this day and age at least.
Also, I just noticed you said German people in general.
Hah. Someone's never been to Germany and only riding on stereotypes.
@@WrektSK how about you just don't judge people at all?! especially not from nationality AND age.
@@Nostrum84 i don't know why you had to add that "especially" part, because I don't like judging people by their age and nationality. But for the first part, is it possible to completely not judge people at all? Lol it's human nature to judge.
Guy, if you have a really tight neck then I suggest when you put both your arms on the desk to try and relax and drop your shoulders down ( 21:00 and at the end for example). When practicing piano my dad use to make me lift my shoulders and then drop them whilst saying 'I'm sick of practicing!' '... loving the energy you put into these vids!
7:26 that was toadally unexpected, but I was really pleased. Grazie
Dammit man, you are by far my favorite orchestral producer/scorer. Love your personality and your willingness to teach
Who else subscribed the instant he started talking. Nice Guy!
Just bought this because of your recommendation, definitely not regretting it!!
- SAMPLED ORCHESTRATION IN A WEEKEND -
If you want to learn how to use libraries like this, check out my Sampled Orchestration in a Weekend course. It starts right at the basics, teaching you how to get the absolute best sounds out of your sample libraries. Over 6 hours of video and accompanying course text. Check it out here: thinkspaceeducation.com/courses/soiaw/
Sir, do you recommend this ? For a beginner. For now, I’m using Labs and projectsam free vst and BBC orchestral. Please advice
Clicked because of the title, stayed for the insight into your arrangement process :) Thanks for sharing man.
Any thoughts on ikmultimedia Miroslav Philharmonik
Such a great video, I was in awe with Guy's skills and personality from the first to the last minute.
21:00 may I sample that out? xD
Would love to know what a revised version of this score would sound like with the full version and/or with some other added samples to fully grow the epic sound it already has become. Great work Guy :)
Thank you,
Awesome review of Nucleus! All of Guy's video's are top notch and entertaining
Nice italian accent :) Bravo! :-)))))
not exactly! But at least I can make myself more or less understood
@@ThinkSpaceEducation At least you can eat!! hahaha :) Thanks for the tutorial
Bergamasco siciliano :D
I LOVE your channel but this video was worth it just for the Cubase nugget of how you can offset bar #1! Wow. I've needed to know that for ages. Thank you! 😃
"sounds like somebody just shot my granny!"
i know absolutely nothing about making music and i still spent 30 minutes watching this knowing i'll never be able to recreate this. good work.
Oh My god, Drink count 11: i‘m drunken.......
Es ist "im drunk", uwe. XD
MAD BLAXE hahaha 😂😂😂
Epic. I mean, there's not much else to say. I watched this while I tried to compose something and even though he did that in 1h, and I did a very small fraction of what he did in 2h, it helped a lot.
20-30 euros for a pizza oof, Costco pizza is 16" for $10 and it's fresh. 👍
he meant when you eat with the family, 99$ for a single person would be awesome ;) in germany/italy you can get a pizza magarita starting at 4€ ;)
Fascinating watching the process. I can afford the $99, but I have an extreme lack of education & training in music, and I'm too damn lazy to practice. I can however be proud that after 53+ years I still know how to play the same three cords on a guitar that I learned in the late 60s. I will be back to watch more of your videos however...
My immediate gut reaction is that I don't like the sound of this library.
This was amazing! I've been having a writers block for close to a week now which feels like a lifetime and I feel so inspired now! I don't even write film music but I'd love to use some of this in my dubstep tracks! Thank you so much
From an Italian: I'm loving you! Great video and very good italian :D
What do you think about the East West Composer-Cloud?
