Great serving by Graf in the first set, allowed her to fend off Seles’ attacking. In the third Monica ran slightly out of gas. It would have been incredible to come back and beat the number1
You think? She wasn’t in shape but Steffi’s face looks like a mature woman, not a 26 year old. She was barely 30 when she retired and looked much older in my opinion.
@@sirenapartenope0604 It was a very small stab wound. Don't fault Parche for Seles's failures in the next 10 years. That was on Seles herself and no one else.
@@carrerau7138 Also a "small stab" (not even that small) can provoke enourmous psychological damage. It's sure that episode ruined the carrer of Monica. What I don't like is the attitude of too much fans of Seles, which accuse Graf having stolen the victories. Monica unfortunately didn't play for two years and Steffi won with merit.
Steffi played this match in a difficult psycological condition. She weighed the shadow of the absence of Seles for two years: then she was obbliged to win. @@catsoftrebinjeI have to agree. It’s so much more entertaining to watch people threaten line judges with death, smashing racquets, crying, retiring mid match cause of a blister, screaming, shouting, twirling, blowing kisses, grunting, hindering opponent, underarm serve, demanding umpires to apologize, pawning their kids to win an argument, race card, “I’m a mother”!!!!!, yes I miss watching clowns and idiots playing compared to watching Steffi play. What a great match. And let's be honest, we all the tennis fans in the world miss you both so much ... Congrats to both Champions.
It’s true. The tennis exist also now, but, with all due respect for the current players, to distance of years, I keep watching Steffi and Monica.
True
well said, it is pointless nowadays, they would both be in the US OPEN final this year, easily,
Graf showed great mental strength to win this match.
Especially with her dad being in prison.
Did Graf say “welcome back” when they met at the net? Sweet moment.
This wasn't a match of tennis... this was THE TENNIS. One of greateast challengers of the history! Congratulations to both. ❤
With these two women's tennis reached a new level.
Las mejores del mundo, en su momento. Nadie como ellas, extraordinarias
2:35 Whole rally of Steffi backhands!
YES!! And she alternated: slice, topspin, slice, topspin, slice (winner)… crazy!!
it’s true. Instead Monica was fantastic in a point 21:19. However match played oh highest level.

Monica Seles has a weakness in her footwork, when her body gets heavier it will be difficult to stop Steffi Graf on any side.

Seles was fat and immobile here after her comeback from the stabbing . Otherwise this would be a quick victory for her against her favourite punchbag.
