    Treat your character's life like it was real. Know that you can die in an instant. Until you start playing like those are real bullets flying around, and using cover like it WILL save your life, you'll have a very hard time in this game.

    • @H3llf1re33

      HLL's ability to respawn endlessly diminishes the value of a player's life in the game. Players don't care if they die because they know they can just respawn, often at a better angle of attack. Until they can address this with improved game mechanics, players will always be reckless, because there's zero reason not to be.

    • @willb1405

      @@H3llf1re33 @datCookie I agree to an extent. but there are plenty of experienced players who play very carefully and slowly to keep themselves alive, and it works. and I definitely wouldn't say there's zero reason not to be reckless, often there are few spawn points and often those spawn points aren't in good places, so staying alive is preferable to dying. Often you'll be in a position of immediate attack or defence, where dying could compromise the value of that push or hold, so again there is value in not dying. I would say that most games I play consist of people not playing like you've described, as seen by all the players in games who duck, crawl, and generally use the maps to their full advantage. Maybe we've just had different experiences.

    First. The movement of HLL has made me dislike movement in other shooters. It's slower, methodical, and just good. Played WW3 earlier and was getting a headache from how people can walk at a jog pace, or how people could side step five feet.

      @Vertaego 2 года назад

      Right! Battlefield made me afraid of tanks because its so hard to shoot infantry given how fast those ants are. But HLL made me really enjoy watching infantry slowly crouch run into my MG42 line of fire lol

    • @H3llf1re33
      @H3llf1re33 2 года назад +3

      This feeling isn't because other shooters don't do it well, it's because HLL has a lot of dead ground to cover between objectives. You're not often required to be slow and methodical with your movement until you're on top of the objective, or are approaching a known enemy position. Since there's no penalty for sprinting for long periods, players are able to run everywhere without worrying about their aim or stamina degrading for a time. If you want a good example of slow and methodical movement, look at Squad and then compare it to HLL. You'll notice quite a big difference

    • @MiniNinjaPK
      @MiniNinjaPK 2 года назад

      Same here. For example, Battlefield feels extra arcadey once you are comfy with HLL movement.

      Perceived speed is a nice thing in games, it gives a sense of flow, and just makes it more fun since there's less downtime between engagements and you can have bigger maps without it being God awful to traverse, movement shooters are fun if the movement is done well, also, you might just be getting old, if you don't wear glasses, try some, get checked for astigmatism especially, i have it, kinda sucks but not that bad

    I have found when using hedge rows it's important to stay in the shadows as that makes a massive difference in being spotted. Also backing into a hedge Row and lying prone makes it hard to be spotted and people run right past you most of the time

  • @premiumrekapp

    Using maps in HLL is an under-rated skill that this game teaches. When you've got time or 200+ meters of running to an objective, check it out and understand roads and terrain. Some areas mark ditches that are great for cover and moving.
    And hedgerows WILL save your life! Always move along them and stay tight against them.
    Cover is VERY important because it takes very few shots to bring you down. If you get killed, you've probably got alot of running to get back to where you just were.

    • @H3llf1re33
      @H3llf1re33 2 года назад

      I don't think it's an underrated skill here at all. Even arena shooters teach players how to use maps, if not more so. Maps in those types of games are designed to be used in a variety of different ways. In HLL, you're either doing a wide flank where there's no enemies to stop you, or doing a push of some kind and hoping the enemy cannot see you behind whatever concealment you're using. Cover is far less important in HLL, because players have very few ways of utilising it (resting/bracing upon it and changing stance to be at the correct height of cover) and the simplistic and easy to use gunplay mechanics negate every piece of cover there is anyway. If you can be seen, the enemy can hit you with ease.

    Kudos for your videos, Mono! One thing I like about the HLL community is that many more experienced players share their knowledge with new players. They could just keep their secrets to themselves, and flex by preying on the noobs. But they'd rather see the game's player community grow and thrive, even if it means giving new players tips that could wind up helping them kill their teachers -- virtually, of course! Your videos are among the more helpful ones I've seen. I hope your time and effort pays off!

    Also. If you're not a squad leader. If you're running from point A to point B and you don't know where the enemy is, run out into the open. Run around in the most obvious place you can possibly be. Most of the time enemies don't have trigger discipline and will kill you, giving away their squad's position and allowing your squad to engage them.

    I wish tactical shooters would fix the grass rendering and low performance settings legal hacks problems. Sure, you can't render 2 million blades of grass. But approximate cover with a simple algorithm: is player crouched or lying in areas pre-designated as long grass? Then don't render player beyond grass rendering distance, and replace that grass with a simple 2d texture of grass.

    I am having great difficulty to adjust. I just try to get information from map and plan a movement but I lag behind or by the time I get there that point most of the time lose it's relevance. I see my line 400m in front of me and I see people joining the ranks from behind all running I decide area is safe trying to join the line fast, trying to run in crouch taking cover but I am getting killed very often. sniper from behind, MG to the west, etc. I know people are anticipating enemy movement and set shops accordingly but when you see the movements on map you dont know what to do. cause of this I cant get a sense of a frontline. Every situation changes very quickly before I could understand and decide a course of action. Communicating squads advances real quick but hot potatoes like my self lag behind and are forced to double time and get killed over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. I started playing this weekend, I feel in love with the game but I dont know I will be able to learn and enjoy it fully

      Hey there new friend. Every game experience varies but the best way you can avoid dying like this is by sticking with your squad (if they are communicating well) and pay attention to empty sections of the map that your team is pointing towards. Try to hide within the group and support them from the back. You will quickly learn the mechanics of the gunplay and movement by observing your teammates
