The interesting thing about this cover is that a lot of people like to think NIrvana was covering this song ironically or something... but apparently Kurt loves this song when he was growing up... for him, he was performing it straight and sincerely.
These guys were so special and the music they made was magical for the time and they had that unique sound. This song was amazing and sad knowing what we all do now in how it all ended but we were all blessed to have had that experience they have us and it really awakened us to the fact that the struggles in life are real. Genuine artists, genuine music genuine life struggles. Thanks Nirvana and R. I. P Kurt
I have no idea what to make of this video. I usually never comment but after seeing this video, it is like entering an alternate dimension. This footage is both creepy and calming.
The only thing that was normal about this performance was that Kurt was singing, and that is why we like it so much. He could sing with a chainsaw as the only instrument backing him and we would still love it bc that voice was so epically unique. I will say though that when everyone was on their instrument(s) of expertise, we know what happens then
@@val13c59i wouldnt say sucked. Kurt and Krist could play what they needed to for their songs. I dont know about krist but kurt didnt have really any knowledge of music theory but has made some of the best riffs and cord progressions that music knows. Dave on the other hand can literally play any instrument i swear, the whole first foo fighters album was writren and played by him
It surprises me intensely to know that this song is a cover! It has a dramatic charge that feels very personal. It looks like a farewell message Kurt left for us. Someone who left, but claims to have enjoyed good times from him. Even with life's ups and downs, he seems to say he was happy - seems to say he's grateful for everything. "Goodbye, Michelle, my little one" I like to think of this sentence as Kurt's goodbye to his daughter. Even though he didn't write it, it all fits perfectly into his legacy. It's a very emotional song... Goodbye Kurt. You will always be remembered.
@@MassiveFish-hp4pm Personally, I didn't notice many similarities. "Lazy" was the only one that reminded me a little bit of Nirvana, I believe because of the vocal tone - I thought the song was really good, by the way. "Peaceful Grin" has such a relaxing vibe... And I don't know all these words
I had boggy turds
With my BB gun I would kill birds
[Chorus]
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed
Were just seasons out of time
All our lives, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the world that we reached
Were just starfish on the beach
[Verse 3]
Goodbye Michelle, my little one
I was the apple of the shining sun
Another apple out of reach
All my tears are salty
I think now I was taught to weep
[Chorus]
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
All the hills that we climb
Were the seasons out of time
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hill on the beach
Were just starfish on the beach
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climb
Were just seasons out of time
Oh the joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the stars that we reached
Were just starfish on the beach

The interesting thing about this cover is that a lot of people like to think NIrvana was covering this song ironically or something... but apparently Kurt loves this song when he was growing up... for him, he was performing it straight and sincerely.
this song has a sadness to it. Nirvana were such a unique band. they deserved their recognition and success. they worked hard for it
I dont know why but the video and the song gives me chill and confort, but at the same time it gives me sadness
it's hard to listen without crying
you know it’s been a rough day when ur here again
Its a sin that this isn't on Spotify or amazon music!!
podcast ep by user nada
it's on with the lights out CD but not on streaming services im pretty sure
@Noelunreal 👍
This is my type of vibe. Completely serious, heartfelt, but Kurt can't stop laughing at how funny he knows it looks on the drums.
I’ve never heard this cover before but it feels super nostalgic for some reason. I’m glad I found it.
Like a dark and eerie Beatles song
I love it
These guys were so special and the music they made was magical for the time and they had that unique sound. This song was amazing and sad knowing what we all do now in how it all ended but we were all blessed to have had that experience they have us and it really awakened us to the fact that the struggles in life are real. Genuine artists, genuine music genuine life struggles. Thanks Nirvana and R. I. P Kurt
"Think of me and I'll be there."
This song makes me cry.
I have no idea what to make of this video. I usually never comment but after seeing this video, it is like entering an alternate dimension. This footage is both creepy and calming.
sounds like the intro to the nirvana sitcom
😂
Kurt sang this old song really good, I have never seen or heard this before!! R.I.P. KURT 😇
i love this vid so much, dont know how to explain the way this makes me feel, its just an unique vibe for me.
This deserves way more views.
Nirvana forever.
Why do I feel weirdly emotional hearing this
The only thing that was normal about this performance was that Kurt was singing, and that is why we like it so much. He could sing with a chainsaw as the only instrument backing him and we would still love it bc that voice was so epically unique. I will say though that when everyone was on their instrument(s) of expertise, we know what happens then
Exactly. Because the musicianship sucks.
@@val13c59 in a good way
@@val13c59i wouldnt say sucked. Kurt and Krist could play what they needed to for their songs. I dont know about krist but kurt didnt have really any knowledge of music theory but has made some of the best riffs and cord progressions that music knows. But id say technically speaking they werent the best but it fits their garage band image.
Do you like The Doublejumps? They remind me of a more chill version of Nirvana
Great band. Thanks for the recommendation! :)
They are cool huh! I think the most similar song to nirvana is Doublejumps song called The SRC @@disabled_1
Saw them live with my father in 1994, In February the 18th for my 14th birhtday. Not even two months after that, Kurt passed, in April 1994. And almost 3 years ago, my Dad passed away, in April 2021. I'm the only one left from what is still the best moment of my life, with my father by my side and Kurt on stage. Listening to this song now makes me pretty sad because this 2024 will be soon the 30th birthday of what was the very first show I ever went to, to see my favorite band, but in the same time, I can't get enough. Just, I would have loved to celebrate this 30th birthday with my Dad. Thank you Dad, thank you Kurt, it was a joy to live in a world with you two. You miss me so much. The world became pretty much darker without you. God I hate the month of April.
thank you for remastering this. Kurt will always be in our heart.
Thank you for uploading this! I've been finding this video for ages!

Think of me and I’ll be there
Cry’s every tim
This was a rehearsal in Brazil. They played this song at the '93 Hollywood Rock show in Brazil with the same lineup (Kurt on drums, Dave on bass and Krist on guitar).

Lyrics:
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
And all the flowers are everywhere
Pretty girls are everywhere
Just think of me and I'll be there
Goodbye, Papa, please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
And I don't know what I was worth
I had bought three turds
With my BB gun I would kill birds
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climb
Were just seasons out of time
All our lives, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the worlds that we reached
Were just starfish on the beach
Goodbye Michelle, my little one
I was the apple of the summertime
And every time that down we reached
All my tears are salty
I think now I was taught to weep
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climb
Were just seasons out of time
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the fear on the beach
Were just starfish on the beach
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climb
Were just seasons out of time
We had joy, we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the stars that we reached
Were just starfish on the beach

Happy Birthday Kurt!!! 🥰🥰🥰
This is truly iconic.. Nirvana was the band that got me into rock roll back in the early 90s when everyone was listening to the black album..
Woke up this morning, clicked on RUclips and saw this in the recommendations, never knew they even made a video of this song, watched it for the first time ever and it's 27 years after his death. Wow. I dunno how to put into words what I'm feeling
If this ain’t played on my funeral, I’ll get up myself to put it on
as you should
This made me miss Kurt so much
This masterpiece makes me feel melancholy and depressed
*_this song has been in my head since I was a kid. My mother listened to it and a bunch of other old songs all the time ._*
Really thought ive heard them all, this is probably a new favorite. Fly high Kurt ❤
I’m crying this is one of the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard we miss you Kurt
Hands down best Nirvana music video. The extra recordings make this really bittersweet.
I swear it’s such a beautiful song .
