    I noticed you have a KitchenAid mixer in the background. When I grate my soap, I use the grater attachment that I have for my mixer that I used to chop up carrots and hash browns. It works perfect on the soap.

    Back in the ‘70’s, that is how we ground our coffee beans. In canning jars using the blender. None of my current blenders will fit the jars now though but I do keep a blender in the laundry room and simply leave the blitzed soap in it and scoop it out. When it get almost to the bottom I add some water and blitz it again to stir and pour off into the next couple loads. Cheap blenders work fine for that. They get messed up so when they stop working it’s no loss. The big batches are slimy and trail leaving a mess wherever you use it. This is much nicer to use.

    I've used this laundry creamy soap for about five years. I LOVE it! When my laundry (towels mostly) get really smelly, I do still add some liquid laundry soap I buy, but this is very effective just on it's own. Sometimes I miss the smell of the fabric softeners so I buy the store brands and add about three times the weight of the total bottle in water to the softener and it gives it a very faint smell to the clothes. I NEVER use it full strength because I've gotten used to the natural stuff and the fabric softener just smells way too strong. I also don't have a big blender, I have a small mini smoothie kind, but it works just as well in small batches. I live in a tiny home and have to be very picky about what small appliances we keep! Thank you for this video! The recipe is super simple and saves big money in the long run! 🥰

    I was very excited to try this. I did, results wasn't as easy as expected. I believe the conditions in my kitchen would have warranted a shorter wait time than 4 hours. My blender would only whip the closest to the blades. My kitchen aid mixer with the wire whisk finished the job. a little messy but will try it again at another time. I also think the smaller shredder on my tool might work better as well. All in all very excited to find you. Thanks!

    This is a terrific recipe, it turned out great, thank you. I even have a small hand turn grater 《Walmart, apx $17-$19) that grates the soap in a hurry. Thank you for the whipped idea, my Osterizer blender is the same one you use. And that idea of using it to whip the soap right in the jar is genius.

    I made this recipe today. I was so eager to wash my clothes. It washes nicely in an he machine however no suds which is fine but my clothes didn’t come out smelling of anything and were ok clean but could be cleaner. I am going to increase the heaping table spoon to 2 as my He front loader is very large and likely takes about 2 loads. I normally wash in cold but I decided warm would help the whip go down the slot better into the machine, I checked it a few times just to make sure and it went down. My sons girlfriend was freaked out when I said I made the laundry liquid as she didn’t want her designer clothes washed in it,,,,,well I washed her name brand clothes and it was fine, no damage😌. I added unstoppable to the second scoop of whip no issues

    • @BettenTheFarm
      @BettenTheFarm  5 лет назад +2

      I'm so happy you that made the recipe. On a front load washer, just put your detergent right in on top of your clothes not through the dispenser on top. It's so thick it could clog up. On a top load washer, start your water put the detergent in then clothes. I hope this helps to get a better result. Again, I'm so happy you made it. I LOVE this stuff.

      I add a large bottle of Dawn dishwashing liquid for Xtra grease cutting insurance, I've added 2 bottles of gain smell boosters but it didn't increase smell at all and it's too expensive to add more, so I bought a 3 pack of essential oils at Walmart and it's making it smell pretty good but it simply won't be strong as the store bought brands, they will give your entire house a fresh smell!
      The best thing to do is mix a. Large jug of Gain detergent to you're recipe and make a super batch which will last well over a year, and will smell great, you'll spend about 35$ but it's worth it cause you'll make so much of it and you can put plenty of it per load

      Not a Farm Girl: a Homestead Adventure. Actually I picked up the grater at a garage sale this summer and knew if would be perfect for this. I've used the others for a long time and no matter how slow I go, I made a huge mess, lol. I looked at it and it's from IKEA, go figure lol. It's funny that you said that about your blender, because I was killing my old one so I too went and bought a NINJA and was so excited until I realized that it wouldn't work because of the base being different. But, I still have lots of great uses for my Ninja and I just picked up a cheaper regular blender at a different garage sale. Gotta love garage sales and thrift stores 😊😊. You can use a regular mixer but I'd have a whisk and bowl just for soap. You'd still want to jar it and turn it upside down so that it separates properly then after the 4 hours transfer to your mixer and then you can rejar it. A few extra steps but should have the same results. You'll love it. I've got many repeating customers that swear by it also. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it. Have a great day! - Jenny

      The whip is a little more concentrated and just a preference for some. I use both. I like to switch it up occasionally. Washing soda can be used alone for a good brightener/booster if needed. Occasionally I use 2 cups of vinegar and run the clean cycle on my washer.

    What if you haven't got a bullet to mix it in can you blend or whisk it

    • @BettenTheFarm
      @BettenTheFarm  5 лет назад

      I did not use a bullet either. You can buy any cheaper blender from a thrift store, because you don't want to use the same one you use for food. As long as the collar portion that contains the blade can unscrew then it should fit right on your ball jar. Good luck. I hope it works for you.

    Can I double or triple this recipe to last longer? I just didn’t want to make it again in a month or so.
    Thank you

    • @BettenTheFarm
      @BettenTheFarm  5 лет назад +1

      It will make two quarts which latest our family of 5 over 2 months. If you have a big enough pot, you could definitely double or triple it. You'll just have to be careful to make sure all of the Fels Naptha dissolves or it can become gritty. Thank you for your question and for watching.

      Melba,
      I do with no problems.
      It's just that once I have whipped it up, I transferred into either clean out old peanut butter jars or Mayonnaise jars. Which are plastic so you don't have to worry about them breaking in the future. They just won't fit on the blender.

    I’m allergic to Fels-Naptha. Could I use Ivory soak?

    • @BettenTheFarm
      @BettenTheFarm  4 года назад

      Uh. I don't know how well ivory would work. I know you can grind up zote soap and use it. For one batch (2 jars) it may be worth it for you to try using Ivory. Experimenting is how great things are created, so I'd say give it a shot and see how it works. Let me know if you do. I'm curious. Thanks for watching.

      Robin, I have been told you can use any Bar of soap of your choice. Fels Naptha, ZOTE (they have 2 different bars), castile, homemade bars. Best of experiences.

    where do you get those glass jars that fix the blender? Can you attach to any type of blender?

    • @BettenTheFarm
      @BettenTheFarm  5 лет назад +2

      The glass jars that I used were quart size Ball canning jars. You can only use these jars with blenders that the blade portion detaches or unscrews from the blender pitcher. Thank you for watching 😁

    Mine didn’t make 2 quarts- it made only 1-1/2. My Fels Naptha bar was old and grated into powder.

    • @BettenTheFarm
      @BettenTheFarm  4 года назад

      You may have forgotten to split them evenly and then top them off with water. That would make up the half quart difference.

      Take baking soda and spread evenly on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Bake at 400 deg. in your oven for 1 hour and Voila! Washing soda. The baking soda goes from a tight, clumpy powder to a more crystalline structure. All washing soda is is super-heated baking soda. Learned that from Soaping 101’s RUclips channel.

    • @ajalicea1091
      @ajalicea1091 2 года назад

      @Tina Price I think she was having issues purchasing it; due to the factors there has been such an issue with getting supplies into stores.
      So, in turn, some companies are putting a limit on things that you order online.

    • @ajalicea1091
      @ajalicea1091 2 года назад

      Prayerfully, you are not having that problem anymore. Went through the same issue.
      The places where you could order it online were limiting everyone due to the fact they didn't want anybody to hoard/resell at a higher price. Like saw them did with the toilet paper.
