  • DON'T STOP Singing! When You Feel Like Giving Up - HERE'S WHY - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
I religiously watched a show when I was six about 4 Allied soldiers and their attempts to upset the Germans in North Africa during WWII.
    The Rat Patrol.
I couldn t get enough of that show, so one day I grabbed my Uncle's ukulele, marched up to the attic, sat down, and started trying to bash out the theme song on the uke.
    Which started a chain reaction:
    (1) I picked up the guitar
    (2) I started going to concerts
    (3) I joined a band
    (4) I started to sing
    (5) And ultimately I entered into a WILD, 45-year career as a musician.
...all because of that one little spark of inspiration, caused by my love of a tacky war show as a kid.
And here s why I m telling you this story, my friends...
    When the going gets tough
(And it WILL get tough )
    The TOUGH will Get Going!
Remember those early days when YOU first fell in love with music?
While listening to a song on the radio or watching a magical live performance or receiving a comment, that you have a nice voice ...
try to feel that first spark of inspiration that eventually led to your pursuing singing now. And let that original passion seep back into your bones.
    Then open your eyes...
Wipe away the tears of frustration.
    Dig in your heels...
    And keep on singing!!!
The road to great singing is long and sometimes very discouraging (despite what some might have you think).
But I can honestly say that it is WELL worth it :-)
I wouldn't trade the past 45 years of my life for anything.
And my hope is that YOU 5 years, 10 years, or even 40 years from now will be able to look back and say the same thing:
    That was SO worth it.
Because you practiced, persisted, and PREVAILED :-)
Here's to many more years of singing,
    -Ken

Nice words, Ken. Many people also don't know you couldn't sing high when you started. They feel encouraged when they learn singing high can be learnt. There's a saying I came across on fbk a couple of weeks ago that goes well with what you said in this video and can be encouraging when going through tough times: "REMEMBER THE DAYS WHEN YOU PRAYED FOR WHAT YOU NOW HAVE." It's helping me and I hope it can help others.
Sth like KTVA wasn't even imaginable at the beginning of the 2000s; at least not here in Argentina. What a singer I would be now had there been a course like KTVS's, and without having struggled SO f' much! Good thing is I'm studying with Ken's course now. Better late than never. I remember dreaming so hard I could find the method some great rock singers use and that I could sing at their level. Now I'm on my way to it.

Thanks for sharing your story, Sebastian! There were those days when both of us were wondering if we would EVER learn to sing. Now we look back and we're thankful that we DID learn, and that it COULD be done!

Man. I struggle with depression, it's my biggest enemy in my life. But also my greatest ally because I put it into all of my art and music. I fight everyday not to give up and this month has been a rough one. I was literally sitting here wondering if I should give up. If I'll ever make it. The title of this video showed up in my notifications. No matter how hard it gets I will keep fighting. I'm in tears typing this. Thanks Ken.

Our own self-doubt can be a terrible enemy to doing what makes us happiest. Don't let the liar within take away what can keep us going. We can be our own worst enemy, but we can also be a better friend to ourselves and follow our hearts to find comfort. Singing can keep us in touch with our own hearts. Don't separate from that connection.

Singing has its highs and lows. Unlike an instrument which reproduces a note or chord consistently day in and day out for years, the voice may not do it. There are days when you don't perform up to mark. Then there are those awesome performances in which you hit the zone. The voice and our health have to cared for. If you love it, you'll keep coming back no matter what. Thanks for the encouragement Ken.

Please share your dreams and aspirations. What would the new you be like if you could sing anything you want to?

I just want to be to the point where I can tour around and blow people's minds. I'm 31 and just started trying to sing about 4 years ago... I've come a long way on my own and with your youtube vids :) Thank you!

Singing is the only thing that keeps me going. My life is extremely boring, I've been through 2 depressions and overcome hem, but I barely even have any friends and I'm socially withdrawn. With that being said, I'm highly emotional and a deep thinker, so music fits perfectly for me. Songs that have moved me have always gotten me to sing along, even back when I sucked real hard at it.
Thanks to you ken, and some others, but you have had the biggest impact on my voice, I now can sing better than ever before- though I still consider myself as being bad. I can sing any song, in pretty much any range at any given time, with minor flaws. When I started.... as soon as I moved into my headvoice, I couldn't hit a single note, and I couldn't sustain a stable note for crap. My lung capacity and breath support has for the major part stayed the same, maybe with some slight improvement. I can hold a C5 for 18 seconds, and that's basically my upper limit for note holding in any range ( except in my lowest register, around G2-D2, if I drag down from G2 to D2, I can then sustain the notes around 25 ish seconds maybe)
Anyway back on track. A year ago, I couldn't hit any notes for shit. I went off key all the time. I couldn't do riffs and runs, I didn't know how to mix, I didn't know how to adjust the volume or dynamics of my voice, I didn't know how transfer into headvoice while singing, I had no vibrato or anything of that sort.
I was horrible. Like worse than the worst singers in my school.
Now a year has gone and I'd argue that I stay on key 90% of the time. I strain way less, shout less, my voice is way more round, my range is greater than ever (G1-D6, D2-A5 module range), I can sustain notes without jumping to another note, my voice is more agile than I ever thought would be possible, I have vibrato, I have a strong, resonant headvoice aswell as a robust chest voice, my tonal quality is better than ever, my voice recovers more quickly than ever....
Man....only writing this makes me realize how far I've come....and I still have the discouragement of calling myself bad, because I go off key, because my breath support isn't good enough etc..because my vibrato goes unstable sometimes etc etc...
I feel like I never learn anything. Like I always keep doing the same mistakes.
But I'm quite certain that in reality, I'm dead wrong.
      I'm not going to stop.
      Not now.
      Not.
      Ever.

Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy I think singing is the most beautiful thing on earth. I believe vocals are key to the hair standing/chill bump effect. I believe that the best way to let out your pain is with singing. My favorite artist are at the top in my eyes because I cry, get chills etc. repeatedly. Only a few have been able to repeatedly do it over and over again. I dream of the day I play a song that makes someone shed a tear. Chills. Or just simply impacts them in a way that the end result was good vibes and a smile for lack of a better expression.

    Thanks Ken!
I've literally been singing since I was 5 -6 years old. My folks fought alot, they would send me away to my grandfolks house where they had a small ranch, had the triangle bell to ring for supper when grandpa and I were out in the ranch planting tomatoes or forking hay, and then when weekends came along, my grandparents entertained guests with a big party, lots of food, and live music. I used to sit in front of the TV and watch Elvis "Alot", He was the coolest to me as a kid, and Jimi Hendrix..which I actually got to see on tv as a kid (Monterey Pop Fest) I believe on channel 2 or 3 back in the California Bay Area where I was born & raised.
My grandparents would have me entertain a bunch of guests with singing Elvis tunes (had the Pelvic magic going and the footwork going back then).
I've been writing songs since 84', and singing throughout all these years, some singing in garage bands, some just filling in for a singer who was unavailable, and other times taking lessons from a girl I dated once teaching me operatic type singing, of course this was the 80's and early 90's. I've always been known as a Rocker, it's in my soul!
I still write even in the wee hours of the early morning jumping out of bed to write songs. My brother who loves Rap and dislikes Rock music and Rockers, says it's too late for me, I'm 52, I missed my window HE says.
He told me I need to realize that some of us are just meant to be "normal" and work in a warehouse or something, he said it takes "Rare Special" people to really make it in music.
I have so much to share with the world musically, I have pictures throughout my years of me holding guitars, singing on mics, as a young 5-7 yr old playing piano, at 8 years old when my folks would fight and I wasn't at my grandfolks place, I'd put on these massive 80's headphones and blast Classical, Opera, or Nina Simone to set myself at peace enough to let it soak into my head to where I could peacefully sleep.
I committed suicide in the early 90's, I was younger & Stupid, on the verge of a 1st divorce, dabbling in Wicca, took out the razors from a venus shaving razor, put on dust in the wind", drank a case of Coors Silver Bullet, took a few Black Beauty's I found in the medicine cabinet, and sliced my wrists til' I passed out, he up in a hospital bed with people telling me I was lucky to be alive..(Proof Jesus exists), this is Truer than True!, I'm not Happy about it, the scars remain to remind me, suicide is really blindness, ignorance to what your own life is really worth.
Anyway, I'm a Pisces same Birthday as Vinnie Paul, and I'm Very open, Honest and blunt with things, I guess it's what makes my song writing so descriptive and in depth also.
Ken, Thank You soooo incredibly much for this video, and others..one day your name WILL be credited for my success and I hope to hug ya and say Thank You, You Rock!..in person.
With Brotherly Love & Friendship I say Thank You, and be Proud also of so very many of Us you've helped!
    As Ronnie used to say
"Long Live Rock n' Roll"! 🤘🏻😇

Ken, this advice is just what I need right now. You and I are about the same age. My voice, I feel, somewhat peaked when I was 50 after singing for many, many years. Now at 56, I am seeing it slightly starting to deteriorate and my "local" theatre group just got booked in a professional arena! While I am super excited, I want to up my game. And, I see you are always saying that it is not inevitable that we lose our voice due to age. I am going to check out more of your videos and look at your course. Again, thanks for all you do and I am thrilled that I discovered your work here.

It sure is a long, hard road if you want to become really good. Today a "good" singer is a dime a dozen, but an exceptional one is a whole other story. And it's up the singer to define exceptional. You have to align your entire body and soul with your perception of exceptional. You set the bar for yourself in terms of your vocal abilities. If you want exceptional, brother you are gonna work. I have had all kinds of issues trying to take it the next level including lightheadedness, nausea, headaches, muscle soreness, fatigue, shortness of breath...these things CAN happen and you work through them too. Singing involves some risk, but it's all worth it.

Thanks, Bob! There are so many who are ready to discourage others from singing that it can be hard to keep our own discouraging self-talk from convincing us that we should give up. You've got to dig in for the long haul. Thanks for your comments, my friend.

    Mr Tamplin,
I want to thank you for reminding me of the value of singing. I remember the days of when my grandmother gave me my first vocal lessons, and I have always been grateful to her for showing me the beautiful world that is music. When she passed away in December of 2016, that truly crushed me, and I haven't really sung as much as I used to since. She was my best friend, a teacher, and a loving mentor to me and I want to get back into singing due to my college course for Music Production. Thank you again for sharing this message. 😊

For me, my journey started as a teenager (13) when I learned to scream just because I thought it was just as silly as it was cool. Never thought much of it, but I ended up belting out these crazy vocals at like 15 in front of people for the first time. Turns out, I was the only kid in the city who could actually do it. That lead to me meeting other musicians and singers. Picked up bass and guitar and worked my way to extend range instruments, then I learned a bit about audio recording and engineering, and now I want to learn to properly sing so I can get back into music and be a very well rounded vocalist.

Good to hear this. I used to sing more when I was younger (not that I'm old, I'm 30), with bands at college time. But then things changed, work, "adult life" and it almost never happens now. When I try to sing, I instantly notice mistuning and some breath limitations.
But it's always good. Music is like the supernatural accessible in this real world.

silverfr3ak, don't give up. Life goes on, but we still have that desire to sing inside of us. We can work on the technical aspects and improve, but we need that spiritual side that helps us to stay in touch with our inner selves.

Thank you Ken! I needed this today! I took on a job that's absolutely awful. I was supposed to work part time so I had time to sing as that's where my heart lies but they abuse our agreement, overwork me and I don't even get a break nor the time to visit the bathroom. Today I've been going through options on how to best get out of there because I know I need to be true to myself and follow what's right for me. Singing is as important as breathing to me and I've been suffocating lately metaphorically speaking. Thank you for lifting my mood and reminding me to stick to my dream. I'll be back on track very soon! Love your course it's the best investment I've ever made. Much love and light 🙏🏻🌸

Wow, Tibelou26, that's a difficult situation for your job to be working you THAT much, when they said it would be part time. Be careful as you look for better work situations, that you keep yourself employed until you can make a change. Sometimes we have to support ourselves while waiting for a better situation to arise. But due to your nature and your tendency to find your way back to music, you will persevere and make your way back home to the thing you love.

I started my music career as a lead guitar player in a trio. I sang a little backup here and there. I was 18 and we had an incredible bass player and vocalist who left our band to study music and follow her dreams. After she left the band I took on the role as lead singer and never looked back. Several bands and years later I have a day gig but I still play acoustic solo and duos here and there and nothing lifts me up like singing does. I have learned a ton from your videos. I really appreciate your sharing it all with us.

I've been singing since 9 years old and got positive comments from many people about my voice and that is when my passion for singing started , but when I hit 15 years old I suddenly couldn't sing well anymore but I still didn't want to give up so I kept on singing recklessly until I couldn't hit any notes I was able to hit when I was younger ( I think i've developed voice nodes ) so I gave up on singing for about 5 years until now . I feel like my passion for singing is still deep down in my heart so I want to start singing again and that's why I'm here . Thank you for all the encouraging and informative videos ; they are of a big help for many people who are currently struggling like me 😊 I'm not planning to become a professional singer but I hope that in 5 or 6 years I'll be able to sing a lot better than I do now.

ken! really in my life when I was child, the truth I began to sing because it was the only way to accompany my mother when I was very small, then when I was 6 years old I found out that my mom (she was not my real mother) was my aunt on her mother's side. And at 10 years old I always sang at school, on Fridays it was cultural day at school, and the only way to vent my feelings of child abandonment, was singing, (all the teachers said! How beautiful the girl sings) but I I only wanted to vent that feeling and so unknowingly find a divine consolation from God or whatever, because I did not know how to handle it and I did not tell anyone, so you're right Ken we all have a story of why we sing and mine is this and I always liked to sing until I became a mother, decided to put together my own band and show my daughter that dreams can be fulfilled. Now I have been singing and doing music professionally as a Blues musician and I play the harmonica and the guitar (I'm still learning every day) I do not consider myself more than anyone and neither less than anyone. I send you a big hug and I feel very lucky to meet you and thanks to the technology of now being able to communicate with you and share a little of me, God bless you for your work and all that you bring to all the people that follow you. I admire and respect you.

I just found you a couple weeks ago and I’m so thankful. I will be joining your program in the next couple of days. I’ve never quit music but I always did it on my own in hiding. I’ve always been obsessed with singing. Often rewinding a 30 second to 1 minute part of a song for hours. My mom meant well but she cautioned me against thinking I could be a musician. It’s not a safe career. Now at 31 I’m a combat veteran, I’ve been a store manager, and I made it to the last semester of my bachelors in nursing program before I realized I wouldn’t be happy in that career. Then I had a big breakdown with PTSD and I’ve been home for the last year and a half struggling with severe panic and depression. I felt like a loser; a failure. But I very slowly realized as I made it through my lowest points in life that it actually been a spiritual awakening and of course music played a big role. As I dangerously came off all of my psych meds that I had been on for 10 years due to simply not caring about life anymore, I became very introverted and isolated myself from everyone, I no longer wanted to connect with and talk to my friends but what emerged from within me was creative expressions from writing to drawing, playing guitar, piano, drums and of course singing. I was freaking insane but I managed to make it through and I have spent most of my days enjoying/practicing music on my own. This was the ultimate psych therapy; my own meditation therapy. I’m significantly better than I was a year and a half ago, emotionally but still have a long way to go. But what I do believe now is that everyone should do what they love. Cause the “safe” careers can always fall through. So why not do what you love? Anyways, ive been working on my vocals but i feel stuck, on the brink of moving from unconscious competent and conscious competent. I’ve felt defeated and wanted to quit and even tried to give up music for a month several times but only lasted 1 1/2 hour. Thanks to you I know I can get there now. I certainly don’t mind putting in the “work”. I can’t wait to sign up for the online lessons. Thanks again for teaching the tricks of the trade.

I can't believe you posted this video my friend. I'm a cancer survivor & have been here lately questioning my purpose. My parents were wonderful singers & we travelled a lot when I was young. When I was 15 my grandmother was killed by a car full drunk teens & the pastor at the time ask me literally to sing at her memorial, that had always been my parents thing but he persisted that she always wanted to hear me on stage and I should for her. Long story short Ken wound up writing her a song and only knowing four chords. It went great & started a band. I wound going through a divorce & taking time off for while, but here recently some of my older fans have been asking for my return & I've been praying for a answer to stay done with singing or just go solo with a guitar 🎸 which needs work as well. I know need work with my voice & finding my own sound. I'm sorry for the ramble I know I'm all over the place, but your vid was posted right after my prayer asking GOD for guidance with my singing/songwriting. Ken what course do you suggest of yours if I wanted to start from scratch? Thank you buddy

Ken, I’ve listened to a LOT of your videos and have never commented.
    This time, I am commenting.
Like you said, we all have our story.
I really needed this word from you today. March2018 Washington state.
I’ve written music, people have told me I should be paid for my singing. (At Karaoke they said this, in many diff places).
But I started doing Karaoke so that I could get over my fear of singing in front of people.
I AM finally going to buy your course ‘How to Sing Better Than Anyone Else’ by Ken Tamplin.
Because you said, you tried, you worked hard at it and they you did it and it was rewarding because of that chain of events. (If I understood correctly).
I’m 55 at this point and have drug my feet through the mud of ‘someday’ for a lonnnnnnng time.
I’ve done everything half ass (frankly). Because it was so easy and now it’s starting to fade.
Conclusion: I may not be able to really shine,
Like I could have, but, I would regret if I didn’t even try hard to sing consistently and properly and sincerely.
Thank so much for all you do and have done.
    God bless... THUNDA STRUCKKKKK

Trykan360, do me a favor, and really put yourself into it this time. I have many students that have come into my program at about your age, and most of their voices have taken off like Rockets! So promise me you'll give it all you've got. No half-hearted attempts. You can do this, and there is no sense in doing it halfway. You are at a point in life when there is still time to really do this right. So do it. Like you always wanted to. But it's not all easy. And half-hearted trying will get you half-hearted results. Put your whole heart into it and do it right, once and for all! You've got this!

I remember seeing the film, "The Commitments", about an Irish soul band when I was 14 and realizing then and there that I wanted to sing professionally. I practiced for hours every day and it took me at least two years until I had a half-decent voice. There were plenty of criticisms (largely from myself) and times when I wanted to just stop doing it...but it just felt right to keep singing and keep on learning until eventually my voice became my 'thing' in school and what I was known for. 23 years later and after vocal blow outs and periods of not singing at all, I still practice and still learn and, with the help of KTVA in particular, continue to develop my voice in ways I never thought possible.
On another note, I recall being accused of being an ass kisser on one of these comment threads on here (not that I care what some sub-par troll thinks) but I want to clarify why I continue to champion KTVA and leave these sorts of comments. Also, I hope that in sharing my own story I can also encourage others to never stop singing (Apologies for the long post - tl;dr version: KTVA saved my voice):
I taught myself to sing; no teachers until I had one coaching session with an opera singer when I was about 25. Arrogant as it may seem to say it, I had a lot of power and range and a decent tone - if you're dubious of these claims, I can provide examples; I don't mean to sound boastful or anything like that, I just know how easy it is to say stuff like that without being able to back it up - but I also had terrible technique, blew my voice out after 60 minute sets doing Soundgaren/Corabi-era Motley Crue-type vocals and was inconsistent as hell.
Anyhow, to cut a long story short, for various personal reasons I did what Ken's telling us singers NOT to do and stopped completely. After about a year or so, I dabbled again but found I'd lost my range, power, tone, control and confidence to an alarming degree. I came across Ken's videos and thought his style suited my own voice, so I started doing the exercises. I was actually rather critical of some of his stuff in terms of marketing and even, rather arrogantly, techniques so I wasn't exactly a fanboy or anything, but I did find that the proof really was in the singing as my own voice really grew and became WAY more flexible than it had been.
With my newfound confidence, I started doing vocal cover videos while still practicing and learning. The difference in my vocal between the first video I did ("Runaway Baby") and my cover of something like Men at Work's "Overkill" or even Simply Red's "For Your Babies" is, to me, quite startling. I had no sense of dynamics, I just roared it out and gave little thought to stuff like support, control or vowel manipulation!
Fast forward to early this year. I was singing in a covers band (who had no sense of volume control) doing two three-hour rock/soul sets every weekend...and I blew my voice out completely through oversinging. I lost my belt range, my falsetto and even part of my mid range. I thought I was done forever vocally. I couldn't even croak anything beyond a Waits-style growl - I actually told my friends I was going to learn piano and start playing in dive bars if I couldn't get my voice back.
Having decided that I had to at least TRY to sing again, since it's what I've wanted to do since I was young and what I worked so damned hard for over all those years. Singing is my only way to really connect emotionally with things too, so there's a whole complex mess of reasons why I NEED to sing that go beyond just simply loving it. Anyhow, I digress...
Ken's videos on RUclips got me started again with basic scales, but with much less air pressure and more support, and I found I could start to sing again but with a much gentler, more pleasing and satisfying tone than the full-on Cornellian wailing I used to do.
I saw that the free content was genuinely beneficial and so I joined the forum to scope it out more. I'm cynical when it comes to parting with money - I'm Scottish, so... - so the idea of paying for some guys vocal course seemed, to me, kinda pointless. But then I actually looked at the content after interacting on the forums for a while and realized that, hang on, this is actually a pretty good deal. I've said on other comments how, price wise, it's a no brainer compared to taking 8-10 singing lessons with a professional and I stand by it.
So I bought the course and started doing it properly, from volume one, like a complete beginner with my preconceptions dumped at the door. Bear in mind, I was cynical and also partly critical of this entire thing so there was a lot of baggage to leave out there. In short, using KTVA allowed me to rebuild my voice and create a sound that, to me, is the best I've ever been able to make with this instrument. I'm still working on it but it's getting there and it's been the most fun I've had singing in a long, long time so my support of KTVA comes from genuine experience, not ass kissing or brown nosing. I think Ken's a great and very genuine guy, and the folks on his forum are very supportive and helpful, but it's the course I'm supporting here. This has ZERO to do with 'sucking up to teacher', Ken's just a dude but he's a dude who knows how to sing and has provided a reasonably priced course that'll give people the tools to work on their own voices.
I've learned a whole new vocal landscape to play around in. Just look at my videos and see the difference between the earlier "Tommy Sings..." stuff, or even the "Ident" stuff,, and the new acoustic covers. Sorry if that seems like self-advertisement, it's just a case of having evidence to present in support of my argument that KTVA works like it says it does. It's not a scam, it's not a fraud, it's a set of tools provided by a likeable and entertaining guy from America who can sing his ass off.
Through KTVA, I've basically found a new lease on life hence my continued, vocal (no pun intended...ok, kinda intended) support for Ken and his team. I couldn't care less whether someone wants to think I'm either 'sucking up' or some sort of paid advertiser, but I really did want to set the record straight (in case anyone actually cared...hahaha!) as to why I, as some guy from Scotland who thought he knew better and was proven very wrong, recommend KTVA to anyone who's serious about their singing. Yes, it takes WORK. Lots and lots of work, but if that spark is in you then it's your responsibility to stoke it up to a roaring flame.
Thanks for reading, if indeed you even got this far!
    -Tommy

Tommy, these are some great observations and examples from real life. No B.S. just real life. I'm glad to have people like you in my program, who know the difference between fact and fantasy and are there to learn singing skills that will last you a lifetime. Your healthy skepticism almost prevented you from learning the truth about the value of my program... but you were wise enough to check it out yourself, firsthand. Scoping out things in the KTVA forums gave you an opportunity to observe that things were happening to people after they started the actual program.
There is no B.S. in my program. It IS about a bit of hard work, and real results. You need resolve to see yourself through something like this that is important in life.
      I appreciate your comments, Tommy.

I actually stopped singing, two years ago.
At that time, I had been studying singing for about three years. My singing school had a little show at the end of the year, so we studends could sing in front of our friends and families.
Long story short: I hated that evening. And most of all, I hated my voice. I really couldn't stand the sound of my own voice. So I just stopped taking lessons, and, eventually, just stopped singing.
And that was a bad, bad baaad decision: I just lately realized how much I miss it! So you know what, I'll just begin from where I left, and I'll get better at this.
    Thanks Ken :DD

Sometimes those one-time events turn out poorly for one reason or another, and we make poor decisions, based on just one experience. That one event could cause us to miss out on many better situations in the future, if we allow that to happen. Sometimes we just have to take our lumps and keep going. Better times are ahead, unless we give up.

Don't give up. Here is my story... Before finding Ken Tamplin's Vocal Academy I ran into some difficulty. I had a disaster of a night. I lost my voice and had to cancel a gig half way through. Apart from being embarrassing, I know now that I had really bad technique back then but I was out of the game for several weeks and actually thought the game was up for me. I remember how upset I got but I knew there must be something I could do about it. I hunted around and stumbled upon KTVA. I watched a tonne of videos on his channel and knew right away it was what I was looking for. And now, coming on 3 years in September I haven't looked back. My singing had gone from strength to strength. I have scored 36 gigs this year now and there is still room in my calendar for more. I owe a huge amount to KTVA and will always fly the flag for him. This is the truest singing technique. Watch the videos. They don't lie. As always. Forever in your debt. Wayne

When you said "think about what inspired you to start singing" I felt this energy rush going through my body. I hope one day I'll get somewhere with my voice, singing is what I like to do the most but I just need a little more practice!! One day I'll become a professional singer with my own band and it's gonna be awesome, everything I do now will shape the future so I'm going to do the best I can!

In a band right now, just realized that our bassist is probably a better vocalist than me so I may get replaced. So I guess it's good that I found this video because I really don't feel like singing anymore.

    • @kentamplin
      @kentamplin  7 лет назад

Do not, I repeat, NOT give up! It's time to UP your game, not give up. Learn how your voice works so you can improve and secure your musical future. Become a better vocalist than you presently are. Others may be more gifted than you. But you can be in the game too, by training to become better than you presently are. If you're not trained well, you are at a great disadvantage. You deserve to be able to sing well.

I have a very low income so sadly I cannot afford any of your courses, but I take what I can from the videos that you kindly put up for people like myself. I just can’t thank you enough, here’s to many more years of music to come .

I love singing so much but there have been so many people telling me to stop. I always ignore them and keep singing but after so many people tell me to stop I start to hate my voice. After awhile I decided to post a video of me singing on RUclips because I decided that it did not matter what people said and I wanted to sing I wanted to be free to do what I love. And this kind of video really help me out so thank you and keep being an amazing person.

Exactly the way i record music. As i have also been at the start where i did not understand, but had a longing feeling. To where i really understood how recording is done. But then lost that longing feeling in the details. To years later releasing all the tension that had build over the years. Finally coming back to where i started. Feeling the why i love it so much. And also knowing how to do it.
Now my singing gets the same devotion, but this time with your advice in this video, and others.
Ken you resonate as a vocal teacher, and also as a profound human being.

    Wonderful as always Ken,
Quality of life advice, for all walks of life.
Life is best lived being ourselves, even if our singing is in the shower.
Following our dreams helps us grow into the person only we can see ourselves.
Sing your song of self realization.
    And keeping on enjoying Ken!
    My Best to You
    Arth

    • @kentamplin
      @kentamplin  7 лет назад

Arthur, that is a very awesome comment. It's quite true, as well. Our horizons broaden when we look forward to increasing our vocal capabilities and fulfilling the desires of our hearts. Singing can be like a magical gateway between dreams and reality, and the division between the two becomes less of a barrier when that door is opened and we step through. It's a place we can imagine, and then one day look around us and see that it has come true.

A musician friend of mine is forming a new band and said he wanted me to be his bass player, then he informed me that I'm going to be his lead vocalist. I love your videos Ken♥️ I'm going to get your course just as soon as I can, you have really inspired me😀

When I was 15 or so I used to only scream. I decided to join choir and try to learn how to sing. My choral teacher told me "D4 isnt in my range" as a tenor. Now I can belt to D5 or D6 with ease and D4 is literally in my extreme comfort range. Singing is all about practice. It's a skill, the only thing anyone is born with is a voice type. I have a friend who's a DEEEEEP bass (almost an octavist) he bottoms out at G1 with ease. I taught him to belt to G4 (I'm 20 now btw). I never thought I could end up teaching people, but it's crazy how if you act as if you are something and have a fire for something enough you truly can do it.

    • @kentamplin
      @kentamplin  7 лет назад +2

If you believe you can't do something or you can do something, you're probably right. If you think you can't do something, then you'll keep coming up with ideas that confirm that. Chances are, you'll be right, whether you were to begin with, or not.
