I only have a collar for my husky for identification purposes & easier catching in case he escapes from the backyard while I'm at work. He wears a harness for walking which makes such a difference to his pulling
Same!
thank you for making an individual video about this! your content is actually the main reason we switched to a harness! the harness + the bungee leash has made a huge difference for my pup! i hope a bunch of new husky owners see this one:)
Good tutorial. I've always used a harness on my Siberian Husky "Abbey". She's not a 'puller' unless she sees a cat that she wants to befriend. A mesh harness that you exhibited is a wise choice.
We recently got a rescue pup. Your videos have been very helpful. I have watched all your videos to learn more about huskies and provide well for my pup. Thank you for creating such amazing content.
Love your edit in this❣️
I have a 16 week old female husky, and I love her so much! Not only is she my first husky, but my first dog ever! So, I am sooo thankful for all your vids! 🥰
Love the harnesses. I've had a companion red and white husky for about 6 months now who is in cross training to be a guide dog as well as a sugar alert dog and he is amazing. That said, he pulls like a beast when we're on a walk. I keep trying things to get him to be easy, but so far no luck. I'm waiting on his gentle leader to come in and might get one of these harnesses too. He used to have a nonwork harness but he outgrew it. I looked all over for three ring ones that can handle a leash or lead as well as a bridge handle and didn't find any so it's good to know one now. It's also nice to see huskies can be well trained. When we hit a roadblock in our training, Pip and I watch your videos and it's very encouraging. I love how you don't say there is only one way to train a husky or anything like that. Being blind, a lot of my training is a little different and so many people try to say I'm doing it wrong or only their way to train a dog is right without bothering to take breed into account or the situation. Thanks for the videos and information you always provide.
Another awesome video! Thanks so much. Our husky pup is 5 months old and everything you describe is our Bucky Barnes. He's our life now and we want to do it right for him. 🥰
This is a great video, thank you. You explain the concerns so well, and with such care. It makes total sense that a harness offers better support and also control for the owner in situations where the dog is pulling too much/towards danger.
My son and I both just got rescues that are mixed with Husky and Bull Terrier…we’d love to have harnesses for them both. They’re almost 9 weeks old and almost 15 pounds. They’re getting BIG so fast. We love ur channel and find it so interesting and very INFORMATIVE!!!!
Been subscribed for a while to Sixty, when I got my new husky I watched his channel for tips as a new husky owner. I remember when he recommended harnesses instead of collars and I thank his recommendations for tips and training too after many years. My husky is almost 5 years old now, thank you Sixty!
We love our new 2 year old husky, learning a lot on your channel.
Great information. Thank you for sharing.
Love the harnesses! Thank you for all your tutorials, I always watch them as I have two adorable Siberian huskies.
Luv ur vids I have been watching even before I got a dog and this help a lot cause my puppy is only 4 months and pulls a lot, mostly when we go on walks and ur videos have helped a lot with taking care of me new pup I even made my whole family subscribe to you and we all love ur vids thanx for the help 😊
Great video, thank you for this information.
I m thankful for this channel ! Good resource for me and my new Siberian pup 👍🏼🦋🐕
Thanks as always! My wooly boy will be arriving next month, and I’ve found so many of your videos useful and informative.
We have a collar for just general name tag and GPS tracker (Tractive). But we use a Tactical K9 harness which allows me to maintain good control and Blue loves it. Thanks for posting this video it is a good affirmation that we are looking after our pups with the best intentions.
I use both harnesses and collars , collars at home , and harness for walking or going somewhere. The only reason I use the collars at home is to control them when they start getting into their real fights to pull them away from each other.
Thank you for speaking about harness. They are great for all dogs in my opinion. I've never used anything else in the last 15 years. Love your pups!
I love your videos. We are new husky owners and learn so much from you!
Love your videos! They really help with our husky that we rescued.
We rescued our Husky last November and were always a Boxer family before. Fun watching the differences between them!
Holy Moly, Awesome Tutorial for new husky owners! Very Informative and good to know information! Good Stuff!
I am brand new to owning a siberian Husky (07/22) so I had no idea what to do for him or what to look out for. This channel has been the best thing I have found to help my little pupper to make sure he gets all the right needs, training, and just ideas to try for him and I couldn't thank you enough!
Great videos, thank you.
Thanks for all the tips! Nice looking harness too!
Thanks for the info sixty formula I'll start doing this thank you so much
Your channel is amazing !!!! Harnesses are the best way to go!! My Luka needs harness def cause he is a puller …. Especially when he is hunting rabbits lol
I’ve been looking for a new harness and will definitely try these.
and thank you for making these awesome videos it’s always a good balance between funny husky shorts and super helpful training tips!
Colorful harness, that's cool! 👌 shoutouts to and from Los Angeles!
I am already subscribed, love your videos. Our husky would love a new harness 😄
Thankyou so much sixty formula, we took Ava collar off she seems so much more happier, and also when huskies hair grows thicker the collar gets tighter, something we didn't see right away,,again thankyou sixty formula, big hugs to britney spears and heals 💕
I Only use the collar for his name tag and the harness for when we go for a walk
Makes sense to use a harness a
are going to change our winter is now 15 months old and is really a thought for we think we will look into the harness thank you for bringing it up
,
I knew that pulling with a collar could do harm to the esophagus, but I never thought about the vertabrae. Thanks for the info!
Great tip! Never thought about this!
I am excited to see a harness recommendation. Mine hate the ones I have now, so I think I will get one of these and try them out!
Yeah, point on video! Harness is a must on a husky. I did use a collar - much harder to control him and also if he pulls, he will eventually hurt is neck and coat under the neck. Like said in the video - husky that never pulls, is a dream and that's why we love them :)
We just got our Husky Puppy a couple of weeks ago, he is 5 months old now. We found a harness that is currently working pretty well, but this harness in the video looks promising for when ours gets older.
Love the videos!
Love you sixty!!! You are the best husky owner I know! Hope you got your puperonies some toys!
We are getting them this week from chewy!
Really wonderful educational thoughtful video.
My husky gal definitely needs a new harness, thank for the content ❤️
Those are so cute! It also looks hard to get out of. My Husky is a puller and knows how to wiggle out of his current harness.
Full of great info. Should also mention that gentle leaders should not be used with huskies (or other pulling breeds) without a harness to be used in conjunction with it. Look forward to the next video
Thank you for the info. I have been looking for a harness for our Rottsky. He loves to zoom alot. I wasn't sure what kind to get. I'm going to look for a Joyride harness for him. Thanks again for the info.
thanks for this video we just switched to collar these past few days on our husky because we removed his cage. we will switch to harness for his overall safety and hope it will make him comfortable on his everyday use
My Husky LOVES her Joyride harnesses and so do I! She has several seasonal patterns that we rotate through.
I do have collar and harness both on my husky when we go on walks/runs. He does pull when he sees grass areas and do zoomies.
Thanks for the great video. My 60 pound female husky is incredibly strong and loves to pull - I will check these out!
oh! Thank goodness for Sixty Formula channel! My 18mo. old male Siberian Husky needs a harness. I've been researching harnesses a lot! Looking @ One Tigris (from a older video of yours) I will look into this one too. Would love to use a harness that has been tested by Hela & Brittany Spears (aka George).😊
Thanks for another vid. We're subscribed on our TV and phones lol. But TV don't let us comment. We'd like to try out the harness you use so hoping we win haha. Our 6 mo old husky pit mix is very strong. We've been binge watching your channel teaching our huskaroni pizza all kinds of stuff. We cold turkey stopped pee mats, and within a couple days and lots of high value treats, she only goes outside now. Love the channel!!! Working on no leash recall while she's in "bolt mode" lol
Thank you so much for this video. I really appreciate it. I had no idea it could cause problems for my puppy husky.
Totally agree! And it's tough to get the right size collar that's not too loose or too tight with all that neck floof!
Wholeheartedly agree on this, husky is a dog breed mostly more hectic than others.Limiting their energy or even hurting it could change their temperament or even worse. Allowing them to move freely is crucial to the upraising of perfect dogs
Very beneficial advice for all of us dog owners, not only Huskies👌🐶🐕🐕👍💯 Love your videos☀️
I would love the rainbow harness!
this is great advice for All dog owners. Even a small dog can sustain injuries if you aren't careful.
My Siberian Husky is a sweetheart. Her name is Echo and she is a runner. I’ve been watching for a few days now and I really like the content and it’s helping me train her.
I actually never knew that but now you explained it it makes a lot of sense
I wish I could use a harness. My dog hates them!
I haven't found one yet that he hasn't chewed his way out of.
I currently have two that are used just for longer walks. It isn't worth the fight to get it on him if it is just going to be a short walk, or a ride in the car. If he sees me grab one of them, he runs away. Once I catch him, he is fine about putting it on, but if I stop for anything, he start working on chewing it, or rolling around and trying to twist it off.
Also, once on the walk once he realizes it won't pull on his neck, he want to pull even harder. The front hook is even worse.
The front hook will turn him, but then he just pulls while walking backwards. He think that is a fun game of tug-of-war.
With a collar he is great on the leash. Only pulls a little when he get over excited about something.
love your videos all ways love the videos
was maybe less than a month after i adopted dex. but I saw harness was the better way to go. to be honest he noticed it too. he was MUCH happier on the harness. he didnt even fight me for it after 1st use. he saw more freedom and i saw more security that he was free to use the harness especially during the time when other dogs were involved.
When i had a husky he always had a collar on but we did use a harness for hooking his leash. His collar was there to hold his tags.
I have three huskies all female and they love to go shopping. Those are really nice harnesses. We have had lupine ones when they were smaller.
We have a lab mix with too many reasons not to believe he has some husky DNA in his heritage, one of the first things I bought for him after adopting him from the rescue was a harness. Waiting for a DNA test, but I personally believe what you covered in this video applies to any active or reactive dog regardless of size. I've seen too many times even a small dog bolt after another small animal, hit the end of its lead and get ragdolled by the momentum of its run. It isn't a pretty scene and can severely damage the trachea eventually causing it to collapse. While sometimes something of similar nature still occurs when on a harness, it at least doesn't directly affect one of the most sensitive and vulnerable parts of the pups body. Anyway I may have to check out these harnesses, our little 50lbs mix has broken several harnesses over the year we have had him, difficult to find one that is sturdy enough for the way he pulls, one day we will manage to fix his leash behaviors, better than when we got him at least. Currently we are using a front clipping harness when walking and a rubber harness back clipping for his 50ft lead that is less likely to break or flip him over if he bolts to the end. It is a struggle to say the least, our boulder is both fast and strong. Lol
This would be great for our Athena .. love this information !!
I totally agree with you. Harnesses are best! Collars? Hell, my dog, McFly, bolted out of that collar in seconds attacking/playing with a black bear.
Thank you for your channel! I get so much useful information from you. "Max" appreciates me learning about him from you too. So he also says Thanks! p.s. we love rainbows 🌈
Thank you for the vid
I only put his collar at home that has a bell on it just to know where he is☺️, and yes your right harnesses are the best for all dogs especially Huskies ❤️ BTW you have a very beautiful dogs💕 thanks for all the informations your giving us...
My husky is 6 months old today.... and he is so big pup. now
So today i just went out to purchase this harness for him... and it feels so so good for him and for me as well enjoyed today's 6 miles walk alot ....most imp. Thing is that he didn't hurt his neck and didn't pull ... first I think he will not comfortable with a new thing i have to teach him but he actually loved it like he is familiar to this thing.... bye bye collar no more collar walks in future too... we really love this ever he don't want to take this off at home too 😂 he is so happy with his new Walky thing ...... I purchase a leather harness because I think it is not warm , good for summers ❤ I'm so happy today because he is a big boy now 🥺❤🎉
Great advice! Man I love Huskies!
I had no idea, thanks for the vid
Those harnesses look nice 😊
I just got my first husky Feb and she was a rescue but my cousin told me that since they are naturally sled dogs they will have that instinct to pull more when clipped on the top and if u can get a harness that has one on the bottom front its diffrent and they will not pull as much and will help show that your the one that leads not them and for me it works really good
Hey sixtyformula, i don't have dogs but i have two cats n i make sure that they have the very best. Hope you n your Huskies have a great day 🤗🥰🐺🐺
I feel ALL dogs should be in a harness, so much gentler & safer for you & your pup.
thanks for the advise
I have a 5 month old husky puppy 🐶
I think we would both appreciate the rainbow 🌈 harness!
Nice harness! I also use a GPS tracker because she's a runner, lol! ❤️
She a runner she a track star but all jokes aside I bet you your dogs are beautiful
My husky loves his harnesses. To him, it’s his “go suit,” putting it on means he’s about to have fun.
dam I hope mine gets to that point.
she loves going out but its a chore getting it on her,, I'm using the go play video games and after 10 minutes i go try again method.
works most of the time unless its super hot out like right now. 30 c here in Vancouver. almost 4 months old
I’ve recently switched to a harness, looking for recommendations for good brands and a video on how to choose the correct size would be good 👍🏻
Oh how awesome this video is. Very informative. I have one puller & one whom waits til I say walk. Idky Apollo is that way but he is scared to leave the house. I can only take him to the front yard & back inside he goes. Avery can go without causing a scene. How can I teach Apollo to be ok with the walking.
Great video
Great info!!!! Thank You so much!!!! My Dog Artemis is almost 2 years old and she definitely isn't doing well with a Collar!!! She likes to run around the yard a lot and gets out of breath from the constant tight pulling of her Collar. So I would really like to get a Harness for her but can't afford it right now!!!! My Husband got hurt at work and we have been struggling to pay our bills. It would be Awesome if I could win this for her!!!! Taking her on walks is so hard because she loves to run!!!! Have a Great Day 😀
Awww I hope you win 👍👍
@sixtyformula, did you already have the drawing for the Joyride harness? I haven’t seen an update in any of the recent videos.
I used a harness for a while until I started hearing my dog wheezing because it was pulling on his chest. You could get one more comfortable but unless you want your dog to pull sleighs in the snow, its best to train this behavior out of your husky as soon as possible and that can only be done with something around its neck.
Mann hold up keep up the good work love the videos 👍 up
Any recommendations for actual pulling harness'? I want to start training for actual pulling and working.
I saw a video where a dog trainer said that in dog parks or when your dog will encounter other dogs, if God forbid there's an aggressive fight happening to the point where the owners need to separate them physically, you can pull the collard up so that the dogs have to pull their mouths away to breathe!
Thanks for the info.. i have my 9month old husky that broke her harness when she is new to us. Dont know where to get a good quality one since then.
Been using now this pull leash to train her as well, but worried everytime she pulls and she is like choking.
Take extra caution with collars if you use flat, slide-on, "silent" dog tags (they are known by different names). The hard & metal edges can do a lot of damage over the life of the dog. NOTE: that's not to say don't ever use that type of tag. In fact these are the only tags I use, to prevent it tangling during treks, play. I only ever attach a lead to a step-in harness (I keep a piece of tape on the leash carabiner so that dog sitter/daycare worker never uses it to attach directly to the collar). For clarity: I use both a collar and harness.
I would love to get the rainbow harness. Got my siberian husky a month ago and I gave him a collar.
I understand that harnesses are healthier for the dogs neck but isn't it supporting the pulling?
I am a husky owner and my Michael loves to pull. I have always used a harness but it has a clip-on the chest area should I be concerned about it? Do I need to switch harnesses?
Hi thanks for the news I’m subscribe
I love harnesses over collars
I’d love that harness! I have 4 huskies so only one will be rockin it! 😂
