I remember loving mowing grass 30 yrs ago,,, I hate mowing now, I'd rather be pressure washing,,, Nope I take that back, I Really don't like getting wet
Looks great and sounds great. I wonder if there is any restriction issues ? Spit the 20 hp and you have 10 per cylinder. Temperatures when running under load for a long time ? Just , thinking :) Great idea . Thanks for sharing. I put separate muffles on a 27 hp command. I used the older Kohler mufflers that was on the Cub Cadet cast iron engines. I figure if one di a 14 hp, I would have no restriction issues on flow. It sound good and is pretty quiet.
Thanks for the comments, yes mufflers are a constant issue, buy expensive or cheap sometimes it helps other times I never saw a difference, my original motor was single cylinder Onan, hated it, then brand new 16 vanguard twin and I had to get creative with adapters and 3/4 hot dog mufflers and now I have the 20hp intec now that I rescued from a new JD that had transmission issues, I have over 6k hrs on that machine, infact I have to fix one of the mufflers Wednesday, factory weld let go, I'm going to start looking for a pair of Briggs OEM 3/4" hotdog mufflers on ebay to redo them the same as I have them now, there getting pretty thin from the heat, thanks again George 😎
@@georgeskentuckyworkshop1420 This is the one I have currently, but this is the second one. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073H6R449 It doesn't seem like the flange is welded onto the body and it just falls off eventually, especially if it gets bumped when it's hot, going to try to weld it on next week. Been looking at tractor clamp mufflers like this www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EUCJL40 Dunno, we'll see, gl with yours 8)
I think you've found the better and more practical solution, George. Now if we could just figure out a way for it to automatically mow the lawn for you!
I also built a New deck for that machine, that I thought was a direct replacement, Nooo, I had to cut off all the brackets of both decks and reweld on new deck, I also welded in extra steel in all the weak spots on the deck, hope this deck with last another 20 + years
Also I'm going to be redesign that stove, it's going to be vertical with Ashe dump on bottom and still be wood and waste oil with blower and have a smaller foot print, project coming soon, gathering materials now, thanks
Yeah and with it choked down like that with that much restriction you probably don't want to put ANY strain on it or those valves will be roasted along with various other parts of that poor engine. I worked on these engines for most of my life, for big companies too, and I've seen a few people try to do this then bring me the engine expecting it to be an easy fix. 🤦 Enjoy the, maybe, 10 to 12 horsepower you'll be getting out of this now 🤣🤣🤣
The muffin top mufflers are for 3-4 hp engines. It obviously runs ok but there's for sure more restriction than that engine wants.
4:20 You're welcome.
Not bad at all. Certainly sounds quieter than I think any I've seen before.
So, are you racing this mower competitively?
Hello thanks for watching, this is just my mowing machine I bought 30 yrs ago new😎
Had that machine out Friday Eve with all the LEDs on mowing my property and my sister's across the street, about 2.5 acres

Looks like my rider, put a 20hp on my 90's MTD, now just trying to find better solutions than the lame mufflers that fell apart.
