Effective Techniques for Spotting Back Squats

  • Even though @kevinmullinsfitness would prefer I spot him at the butt cheeks 😆 there’s an ideal way to spot anyone back squatting and it doesn’t involve grabbing the bar.
    For those who aren’t sure 👇🏽 here’s how to do it.
    *Position Properly:* Stand directly behind the lifter, maintaining close proximity to assist with the bar if necessary.
    *Hand Placement:* Position your hands near the lifter’s torso, near the ribs
    *Clear Communication:* Discuss the set beforehand-know the number of reps and when they expect assistance.
    *Assist as Needed:* Provide support by squeezing the torso in and then up - often the squeeze alone will give them the stability needed to complete the lift.
