one of the first youtubers to get on the manual
Yes, I was very lucky. Check out both videos I made with this car. Thanks for subscribing
It has been on sale in Europe for couple of years now.
But not with a manual transmission
Glad to see BMW producing a good manual transmission! Great video
A real head turner! One of the best looking sports cars on the road especially with that color.
Yes!
Glenn, thanks for the great review. I just ordered mine in san remo green. It should look great parked next to my 2017 M2.
Mine (also in San Remo Green) looks perfect next to my 2003 M3 🙂
Congrats!
@@GlennsCarCollection actually, I just cancelled it, the Porsche dealer just called and said they have an allocation for a cayman gts 4.0 and I’m at the top of the list!
There are so few green coloured cars on the road these days.
And I love the colour ever since my dad for a green car when I was a kid (which is kind of the same colour as the shiny, non-matte version of the car you are driving now).
And nothing it’s because car manufacturers so rarely offer green. It’s not that people aren’t choosing it, it’s not even an option in so many cars and manufacturers.
Is the manual as good as the Honda Civic Type rRor Civic Si? Or Mazda MX-5? I'm really looking to get one of these and I want something with a short throw.
Thanks.
Great question, two week later I had the 2024 Civic Type R for a week. The CTR shifter is better but the manual in this Z4 is probably the best BMW shifter yet
@@GlennsCarCollection Thanks!!
As high as the price is, it’s less expensive and gives you more than a comparable Porsche Boxster. I priced a Boxster several years ago and it was over $80k after taxes and fees. Now they start at $75k before any options. Dealers option them up so they sell for close $90k or higher, and that’s a base 4 cylinder. So I feel that this is a car that is priced high, but cars like these are expensive. This is why I have a Miata! As you know the Miata manual is quite enough for fun and it’s affordable too! 😊
Miata and S2000 are always the answer!
@@GlennsCarCollection - Yep! Have you driven the new Camry? It’s great! Test one soon.
Dude you probably need action camera with better stabilization…Great review and fast car!
You are right!
How does it compare to a Porsche Boxster GTS 4.0?
I have driven a GTS 4 cylinder not 4.0. The Boxster is definitely more nimble. BMW faster and sounds better
What a hot color combo! Car sounds great!
it does. Pictures don't do the color justice, looks even better in person
THIS CAR LOOKS PERFECT!!!THIS IS THE BMW TO BUY!
NO CASH ;)
it is
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Great color.
it really is. Good to hear from you Frozen Car Guy. Are you experiencing this heat wave in Canada?
@@GlennsCarCollection oh yeah
They should have made this a Targa or full blown hardtop coupe
They did, its called the Mk5 Supra!
When they did that on the older one the weight distribution was super strange and it was several hundred pounds heavier.
@@weirdshibainu It would’ve added more weight. This is basically a M240i but 400 pounds less. And a manual. Not an option on the M240i.
I test-drove one (an automatic) at a local dealer. I'm sure it's a great car technically, but couldn't get past the current exterior styling. Got lucky and bought a 2014 M Series 6-speed Z4 with 6200 miles on the odometer.
Nice find!
The wide body on the Supra as well as the lower price are the reason I’d pick the Supra
Great choice
@@Nick-hz2kl Way too claustrophobic in the Supra. For me. And I’m only 5’ 10”. I just hated the lack of vision when turning my head to the left. You’re looking at the roof.
@@chuckcribbs3398 haha I’m 6’3” and it’s perfect.
Beautiful car, I'm sorry I didn't get my San Remo Green in time to park them side by side when you had this!
That would have been a great comparison.
Mine is on my Channel for a short video, if you want to compare colors.
Congrats on your car. Its beautiful
This is my new favorite BMW, which does not say much. In fact the only new BMW I would buy. Thank goodness is does not have ID8!! 3500 for the option of a manual! 🤦
$3,500 for the manual may sound expensive but you get bigger wheels and tires and suspension changes with the manual as well.
$3500 buys you the larger wheels ($600), leather seats ($1500), part of Shadowline package ($400), and metallic paint ($650). Add those together, it's only $350 more for the manual compared to an identically equipped automatic.
Praise the Lord the dashboard is not fitted with one of those new long tablets. This one is much better.
I agree
Jeeezus that price though lmao
Love to get our thoughts on this car as an S2000 replacement?
The S2000 is much more raw. The Z4 is grown up, mature. Much better ride on the highway and way more powerful than an S2k. Z4 better for long trips or listening to music. S2k very focused, good for tight roads
The Z4M is the only S2K replacement IMO
Are you serious about this? Z4 is a modern heavy cruiser that pulls in a straight line. No where near the fun driving dynamics that the s2000 has 😅
You better look in the japanese market. Mazda mx5, toyota gr86… that actually still make fun lightweight cars.
@@Scifo321 not the E86 Z4M
That thing is nimble and smokes any of those cars including the competing Porsche at the time
@@Johnnygga Never owned one but i can image that the older models were actually fun and playfull. Nowadays its all about hp and 0-60mph numbers. Boring. I feel like an mx5 ND which i own is the closest to an s2000 in this modern “sh*tty” era of cars. I wished i had money 30 years ago in the best era 😂
Looks likes a valentine 1
Uniden
Wow
green is a waste. love the car though
I love the green and I usually don't
Hmm id save my money and buy a manual supra instead or save even more and buy a z4m from 2007.
I guess that’s why BMW is once again killing the Z4. For that price, I rather get the Supra and get most of the same for less, or pay a bit more and get the M2!!
Blah blah blah....blah blah.... Blah.
Blah... blah... blahblahblahblah.....Blah...... Blahblah!
Blah!
Listen dude:
You really have no fu...ng clue about the reason, why BMW "is killing the Z4 again".
In our times of electrification, German carmakers are changing to EVs, even with their two seater cars. Just what Porsche is doing with the forthcoming electric 718 Boxsters and Caymans.
@@Porsche1969
Listen dude:
The Z4 is not selling. There’s a big reason for it. Is what I’m trying to say. For less money you can get a Supra and with a bit more you can get an M2. Who gives an F about gaytrification??
@@jmccarsnmore1025 Listen dude:
I don't give a fu... about your "American opinion", which is mostly completely wrong anyways.
The truth ist, that Americans have no clue about manual transmissions....
You are just annoying wannabes, raised with automatic transmissions all over the place, claiming being "manual nerds"🫣🤣...
Here in Europe/Germany, we were raised with manual transmissions from birth...
The Supra "driving feel" is also quite cheap compared to the BMW Z4.
It's just a poor mans BMW nowadays.
I know, they are both made at Magna in Graz, but a Toyota stays a Toyota.
Buy a Supra and STFU dude!😂
Strictly performance speaking you would be better off w/ the supra. You will save a bit more than 10k The added cost is being a convertible and some extras in terms of features. Both the supra and the z4 are ending production March 2026. Both are based on the same platform out of the Austrian plant. So if you want either a new supra or the z4, I'd suggest ordering one soon
Don’t like the Blk top…need tan
There are two things that have always made paint get high scores at shows, a "mile deep" gloss and nice colors. Autotrader shows that the least popular color or longest on the market is green! If you want to guarantee you can never sell this car on your own in the market, you will get this awful paint!
Thanks for watching my video and subscribing. I appreciate it. Overall your right about the color green but I think in this instance, these two greens will do well for resale down the road. Both greens are only available with the manual transmission option. Back when they were new, Laguna Seca Blue and Phoenix yellow did not sell well. There production numbers were limited. Now they are the two E46 M3's with the best resale value. Enthusiasts buy used and like to have unique colors.
