That's funny. Just last night I got the idea to use a belt or something as a break.I didn't know there was such a thing as a "band brake." Does turning the whole rear axle cause any problems turning left or right?
You have the brake band setup backwards. The bottom of the band should be attached to the frame and the top of the band should be attached to the brake rod. Check any one of the videos on RUclips for this.
Oooops... I watched to the end of the video to see that you figured it out. It's backwards and the best way to go with your new live axle is to put on a disc brake setup. Enjoy!
@@CoyoteChris awesome. And thanks for getting back to me. I have a single drive kart that I’ve been looking to do this with. Hard part is I can darn near buy a used kart already setup for the cost of all the parts I would want.
Here is the link for the kit I got, www.gopowersports.com/6-live-axle-kit/. The price has went up since I got it and the drum was a 4”. Hope that helps!
Hey I know it's been a year since you uploaded this but I was wondering if you have the old drive wheel still, would you be willing to sell it or donate it to a fellow kart builder? Lol in the process of rebuilding one for my 8yo but it's kind of a tweaker special at the moment.
@@CoyoteChris No worries! Definitely wasn't expecting you to reply at 1 am 🤣😅 I'm having issues finding the right setup for the brakes. We have the same kart other than mine is the 2 seater.
The amount of times he said mock this up lol. Keep making good videos.
8 times😂. How dare you mock me!
I’ve learned a lot out of just this video, thanks
Thanks for the compliment, that’s the whole reason for me posting videos. 🔥🤘🏼
i have the exact same go kart and this was a lot of help
@@notfake1301 glad it helped🤘🏼🔥
Exactly my situation lol. This was the first live axle kit video I clicked on and then we have the same karts 😂
@@buboos4920 heck yeah, sweet little go karts. 🤘🏼
I need that seat!
I need to get the cover fixed 😂
Good job man!
Thanks 👍🏼

Yes I did the mechanical brake in the next video Go Kart Mechanical Brake Install

I have the same 5hp engine but I can’t find a replacement carb anywhere online. Do you know the brand of the engine?
I ordered one a long time ago from eBay but I can’t remember what I looked up the get it. Sorry!

cool vid we're going to install an axle ours and we got the same axle kit
Awesome 🤘🏼🔥 it’s a nice kit!
yeah it is any problems with the go-kart so far
No issues with Kit, it will push front end since it’s a solid axle and I would suggest disk brakes instead of drum. Drum is to weak to stop the kart.
The package just arrived in the mail thanks for the advice and I will get back to you once it's done
🔥🤘🏼
What length axle did you go with?
I went with the 40” axle. 🤘🏼🔥

@tensi0nrytec your welcome, you got to weigh those options 😂. Good luck 🤘🏼🔥
Hello where did u order the axle shift kit from?
www.gopowersports.com/go-kart/axles/
Have a question, do you still have original drive rim, I'm in need of one , and can't find one
I gave it to a friend, sorry.
What was the length of the axle cus go powersports as multiple and I want the same as youfs
I went with the 40” but I think you could go with the 38”. 🤘🏼
14.5 horsepower would be ok for a go kart right?
Bc right now we have a 420cc on my go kart frame and we’re in the process of building it but it would take off fast enough correct?
Sounds like your building a race go kart 🤘🏼🔥
I think you may need a little more than 14.5 hp if you even want to go over 20 mph 😆😆😆
@@FGarageTV not if you have a torque converter a live axel and a 4 speed gear box you don’t
Where did you get the live axle kit
www.gopowersports.com
Would you have the part number for the kit? I have a red Manco 405 go kart like yours. And is your brake drum in the video a 4" or the 4.5"

@@CoyoteChris that link for the kit has different length axle. 36" , 38" , 40" ,42" and so on. Which length axle did you buy? If you remember
I went with the 40” but you could probably get away with a 38”.
@@CoyoteChris thanks for the info. I appreciate it
