As I've seen in many sanctuary videos now, many sanctuary pigs are very friendly and affectionate, they love mud wallows and love belly scratches. And most pigs looove to eat. Many pigs follow the same friendly behavior style by walking up to people pointing their snouts up at them while grunting alot, and they rub their sides against the person's legs and give "snout kisses" (which is pressing their snouts on someone while sniffing). It's how pigs show happy friendly affection to someone they like. And, most pigs in sanctuaries do that regularly with almost every person who's kind to them, which is most in sanctuaries. Factory farm pigs very rarely do that and often frantically scurry away from any person who gets near them. And they squeal when anyone touches them. These pigs have been made way too frightened of people to be friendly and affectionate to them. People in factory farms sadly often abuse pigs and treat them dreadfully. May we all find a way to extend compassion to all sentient beings and not take part in the suffering humans impart on animals. It just brings me to tears how these animals are treated. We need more of these places, and we need more compassion, for we do not understand that they are living beings to of course they’re not human, but they are living beings.
Videos like this one and many other Dodo works literally help me survive life and world madness, selfishness, cruelty etc. I'm so moved watching this, thank you for your dedication and thoughtfulness. I'm a low income Senior with all kinds of health issues, and the most animal care I can afford is feeding a couple of elder feral cats who show up waiting for their bowl of food. It's little but it's the best I can do, and it gives me a sense of purpose. If we allow them, animals can bring our goodness out into view like it's shown here. Bless your hearts!
Bless you! By feeding them you're saving them from starvation or potential danger if they have to dive into piles of rubbish. If we all could care for one feral, once domesticated animal, the world would be a much nicer place. You're taking on other people's "jobs" by feeding more than one. That isn't a little thing, it's the world to those cats. Take good care of yourself too, okay? 💜

@@RuthinLakeWorth Indeed. And not just physical abuse, mental and emotional torture, too. All animals are sentient beings, even fish. They may not speak, but they communicate with the noises they make and their body language. We should assume that they have feelings as well. It's cruel to force an animal -- like a pig or a cow -- to witness the murder of family members or others of like kind.
I've never been to a farm or seen a farm animal up close. However, it was interesting to see how the farm animal rescues work and much these people love their animals. This was a cute story with a happy ending.
Yes make Thatcher on your bucket list to visit a working farm with animals different kinds of animals I'm 61 years old but I grew up on a farm in New Mexico with Cows and chickens and pigs sitting on the ground me and my brothers and sisters and the barn while my dad he's milking the cow and he'd shoot milk right into our mouths right from the the mother cows and then when I got older I had animals me and my wife have always had animals but now I'm a little too old for that but I still love them and I appreciate videos like this that show people that appreciate them and love them even if you're going to eat them feed him a good life it's only fair
I took it for granted that people knew about farm critters when I was young. I worked on a farm and a cattle ranch long ago. Then athletes from Chicago came to our college and they had never seen a cow or a chicken or any other farm animal. They were blown away by their farm visit. So yes please find a way to visit a farm. You will enjoy it a great deal. I do not miss our horses because of the work and the expense but I miss their scent and their elegant beauty.
She had ppl that loved her at the 1st place where she lived in that tiny cage, that's the lady who called the rescue people to save her. Because she loved her and knew she had a sweet personality.
I wish and hope more people educate themselves through videos like this. Warms my heart that there a good and decent people helping so many animals who've been mistreated and abused.
I didn’t expect to cry but to think that animals are treated this way until they are no longer useful is truly heartbreaking. The tears of joy were worth it , to see her free and happy. God bless all animal rescuers!
Pigs are smarter than dogs. Pigs are super affectionate, and deserve consideration just like dogs and cats. Each one is an individual. Thank you to Ziggy's and all of the other wonderful rescues/sanctuaries giving "farmed" animals a forever home without exploitation.

These are good people. I don't know how humans can be so cruel to amazing animals. Pigs are some the sweetest natured and smartest animals you could hope to encounter. I've had 2 pet pigs and they are amazing smart and loyal. My pigs were protective of me just like a dog! Lol
Yes, I saw that too. And Buttercup also started grunting first when stepping onto the farm field for the first time, and again when seeing the other pig. These were the first feelings of real joy she had
So sad to know that she had to wait this long to get out of that small metal cage…. I mean look at it? It doesn’t even look like she can lay down. I’m happy to know that she’s finally out but so angry with the previous owners. I wonder how they’d feel if someone locked them up in a cage so small that they couldn’t even lay down smh.
This is how all animals are treated when they exist to produce, produce, produce. It's quite horrifying what human beings are capable of in the name of profit. I'm not vegan, but I can sure see why people get upset by the wholesale immorality of the meat and dairy industries.
@@walterco7701 I'm not a vegan either. But only because I have a variety of food sensitivities and because of medical issues I'm on a highly restricted diet. So I'm unfortunately dependent on animal proteins. Otherwise I would be. But at least I live in a rural community and almost everything in the meat market is local. Knowing it comes from small family farms where the animals are at least raised humanly helps. Plus helping those farmers rather than large commercial industries that have unethical practices.
I don't want to sound anti-American (I'm not, I promise), but US animal welfare standards compared to most if not all equally developed countries is pathetic and often disgusting. I'm not saying that the other countries have got it all right - absolutely not, there is still a way to go - but at least, for example, our pigs have more room. I actually live in "pig country" (downwind from a small pig farm about 150 yards away in a straight line, that the village, which dates back at least 1500 years, has grown around!) Nearly every pig that's being raised for pork lives in a field, has an individual shelter, like a sort of long igloo. In fact they remind me of some bomb shelters, with the vaulted ceiling. They can come and go freely, they are fed however many times is necessary, but they also have their own territory to root around in the mud which keeps them happy and occupied. If it's particularly hot weather, they'll be regularly hosed down, wetting the mud so they can roll in it and use it as sunscreen (which is what wild pigs do). They're near others and can interact with them, even play if they want. Many fields can be seen from the road, and you can be sure that if anything is amiss, someone passing by will alert the authorities. Caged hens are either banned outright or are in the process of being so (depending on the country). Most people prefer to buy free-range or "barn raised", which isn't a perfect solution but does protect them from foxes, and they're not squashed into the disgusting "factory" farming cages. Chickens for eating are kept in cleaner circumstances (many are free range), so much so that we don't bleach our chickens before selling them (just cook them properly!) These are just a couple of the differences that I've seen between images of animal farming in America, and their equivalent elsewhere. I won't try to go further because these animals are the ones I know most about. Our breeding sows have a legal minimum of space, which includes space for them to lie down when they want to and not squash the babies when they come. As you can imagine, it's a _lot_ bigger than in this film, but IMHO, it could still be better. I get the impression that whilst many countries' populations (esp in developed ones) are disassociated from the source of their food, compared to its peers, America's people are by and large completely clueless about it. It's such an easy fix, too! I know that in primary school here, one of the subjects they study on and off over the years (so the info is age appropriate) is quite literally about where the food comes from. They even visit farms when possible. Many cities have "farms" for visitors, mostly filled with rescued animals which are then used in the discussion of where their bacon or whatever comes from. It's probably why there are so many younger vegetarians and vegans these days! Seriously though, the American people need to protest for better conditions for farm & zoo animals (though I suspect that typical zoos are excellent, I'm thinking about those horrid roadside ones). If you don't, there will be more need for these shelters ☹️
@@walterco7701 That is not how all Animals are treated. I get my Meat from Farms were there are treated well. Ive been there that Animals are actually happy

No the farmer is supplying a demand. WE are the monsters for giving them a reason to keep doing it. AND YOU as a meat eater, vegetarian or anything other than ethical vegan are responsible. It's math. If you buy it they keep doing it. Simply really. Not Rocket Science.

May we all find a way to extend compassion to all sentient beings and not take part in the suffering humans impart on animals. Someday maybe all animals will be happy and be able to experience the outdoors.
These people are an example of what everyone should be. They are amazing and compassionate. I am so happy to see that Buttercup will live happy and free for the rest of her life.
Thank you for your comment ☺️ !
Yes, they are amazing humans! ❤️❤️

I’d rather Buttercup live free in my stomach as bacon.
when I see buttercup gets her first bed I cried cause she`s was in a cage for six years now she's had her very own bed and room to roam around

Thankyou for being a wonderful and warm person. You are bringing some love and food into their lives, for them it's huge ❤
This is so sweet. Love when they called her Princess Buttercup. Made me smile. What a beautiful way to show unconditional love :)

I love her antler-looking ears. Terrible that these sweet souls are treated this way, unbelievably cruel. All the people involved in Buttercup’s rescue are wonderful. Her new owners seem so sweet and thoughtful.
The ears are mutilated by the industry that kept her imprisoned. They cut holes for tags and to mark them. It's horrible.
@@StFrannn Oh no 🙁😔 I hadn't realised they would be mutilated like that, with pieces cut out. Thanks for educating me.
@@StFrannn I was wondering but I suspected that's what it was. That is horrible, thinking that each notch must have been so cruelly painful. And her feet didn't look right to me. Are her feet OK?
No her feet and legs would be messed up from standing for 6 yrs 24/7. There is no need for this kind of cruelty for us to eat. We can still have meat and not treat the animals this way.

I never knew that getting to see a pig sleep on a fluffy bed could make me so happy. But it did. Have a great life, Buttercup!
I've never been to a farm or seen a farm animal up close. However, it was interesting to see how the farm animal rescues work and much these people love their animals. This was a cute story with a happy ending.
Please make an effort to visit a working farm where they have different animals. It will change your view on life.
It would be surely fun to visit a farm santuary like this. :)

Yes, I saw that too. And Buttercup also started grunting first when stepping onto the farm field for the first time, and again when seeing the other pig. These were the first feelings of real joy she had
My heart just burst with happiness when she said “you’re prettier than the sunset babygirl “ ❤
I actually live in "pig country" (downwind from a small pig farm about 150 yards away in a straight line, that the village, which dates back at least 1500 years, has grown around!)
Nearly every pig that's being raised for pork lives in a field, has an individual shelter, like a sort of long igloo.
Chickens for eating are kept in cleaner circumstances (many are free range), so much so that we don't bleach our chickens before selling them (just cook them properly!)
These are just a couple of the differences that I've seen between images of animal farming in America, and their equivalent elsewhere.
I'd like to see them in cages and smacked with wips. :)

Those from the sanctuary are lovely people. The farmer is a MONSTER.
No the farmer is supplying a demand. WE are the monsters for giving them a reason to keep doing it.
If you eat meat, dairy eggs or any animal products or secretions from their body, YOU are directly responsible for the farmers
to keep doing this. ALL animals raised for Food are treated like this. AND YOU as a meat eater, vegetarian or anything other than ethical vegan are responsible. It's math. If you buy it they keep doing it. Simply really. Not Rocket Science.
