Buy a BIC PEN! The cheap balpoint pen, usually come with a few inside the package. Costs literally nothing but the pen is the perfect size for this. I just fixed it 2 minutes ago and im super happy. Get a BIG PEN!
This worked for me!! I tried the pen alone which was too loose but I added the tiniest drop of hot glue and waited a minute for the glue to set up. It was so satisfying to pull that sucker out!
Michael buddy! It worked! I found my "guatamala" pen too...kinda. I found a thinner tube although it was still too thick. I warmed up the top of the tube for a bit, then carefully widened the opening with a pen (yes, a pen again..). Cooled it off, slowly moved it in clockwise in my MBP, pulled that evil thing out and finally aggressively enforced my wife and kids to witness my happy dance. They had no idea what happened.
Etienne Poeder haha this the best. so greatful this video has been helpful for so many... i did it on a whim 1 take... clearly. but so many good comments.. only the people who experience this can know the sheer joy from popping the Lil sucker out! I'm fairly sure I did a happy dance too!
I fixed mine with a "clicky pen" too-third pen I tried. Yay!!! Micheal, thank you so much!!! Your "Guatemala pen fix" is the best. I watched several Superglue videos first but really didn't want to go there. I'd backed up my computer and was ready to bite the bullet and take it to a shop. But after a short break a little voice encouraged me to try your advice first. It worked. Bless you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You saved my phone bro. I found some pen insides which were too wide and some too narrow, so I just carved a narrow one bit by bit larger until it fit perfectly and got the tip of the jack out. Thanks! :)
MAAAN!!! Didn't think about the pen thing, thaaank you. Tried another way, regular pen with small hole, just took a 2.0mm drill bit to enlarge the hole, got the pen in, then got the tip out... You just saved me of spending £100 in samsung for this. Big like man
Thanks a lot! It worked for me! Regret why I spent whole week running from local repair shop to Apple Store but no luck! Thank you again for posting this video.
This totally worked! Super satisfying! feeling! No super glue. Michael you made my day! Seriously I went to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and they said they did not have a tool that would fit to remove, ipad was out of warranty and do I want to purchase a new ipad or bluetooth speaker. I said no thank you. The next day I went on youtube and followed Michael's video. I saved going to a technician, break the factory seal and possibly make things worse. Thank you so much!
I ever so slightly bent a thick needle & heated up the tip & using a tool to grip it, I safely stuck the needle a few centimeters into the center of the jack which is made of plastic & then I let it dry for about 3 minutes before using the tool to slowly & safely pull it out. As long as the hot needle tip doesnt touch the plastic outer ring of the female port & only touches the center of the male jack, this method works PERFECTLY on the first try. I recommend attempting to safely put the needle in place first a few times for practice as to avoid having shaky fingers when you finally do it while its hot. Make sure you have plenty of light & dont stick the needle in too deep but just a few centimeters so that you are sure its in there & dont forget to leave it in place to dry for a minute or so as that allows the plastic to cool & grab onto the metal needle. A skinny nail works too & bending it may not be needed but just helps(the slightest bend..where you can barely notice it). -Thorough Guy trying to help people
This worked for us. We did take a lighter to the pen barrel for a second to make it go around the jack piece a bit easier, then let it set for a bit and it all came out together.
There are literally millions of people searching for a solution to this problem. How absurd that the cables come apart so easily! Anyway, I tried your pen method in my car aux socket, and somehow managed to push the broken tip even further inside. I have a feeling that it may have gone out the back ( if that's possible ). Anyway - the socket now works again! My question is whether the broken tip can be forgotten, or can it cause any damage? I think the pen was the right size, but I guess I pushed too hard when I felt that it had gripped something. It didn't occur to me that the tip could go even further in, or out the other side. Perhaps this is the case in a car, but not the case with a laptop? Bloody frustrating problem. I am not buying cheap cables from now on! Thanks for taking the time to make the video, and sharing your elation!
wow. out the other end. haven't heard that before. yes probably right... must be different for your auxiliary compared to laptop or other devices.. but im not sure if having it pushed through will cause extra damage. good to hear it still works. Cheers
It turns out that the aux/usb in the car ( a Kia Rio ) is an isolated component ( see link ) , and so the broken tip can't go too far. Let's hope it doesn't rattle! www.ebay.ca/itm/2012-2013-2014-KIA-RIO-PRIDE-OEM-AUX-iPod-USB-Jack-Assy/261982854752?epid=933699819&hash=item3cff651e60:g:~CEAAOSw2gxYv2OF:rk:7:pf:0
I watched another video that used a piece of spryer tip. Didn’t work for me, so I tried this pen method and it worked. Tip: I used a PaperMate Profile 1.4B ink pen on my iPad. Hope this tip helps someone that’s looking for a pen from Guatemala. Just go Walmart or most department stores and purchase one. No special trips necessary...
Brother, just now my son came to me with this issue and thanks God I found your video, I used a BIC pen and first try just got it, thanks a lot very helpfull😁
Hi Mate, You have just helped a Friend of mine out with the same problem with an iPod, so a Big Cheers from me here, THANKS A LOT!!! Moving on now to look for a new cable, it was my cable that caused it... but that aside, Thanks!!
Awesome. Only had my s9 a few months and the aux cable in my car broke inside. First came shock, then came panic and then came the lightbulb ask RUclips moment. Really didn't fancy the glue method and then came across your vid. 3rd pen I tried worked a treat. Thanks from a Brit living in Germany
Find a pen piece that is a little too small and then gradually make the hole bigger with a fork prong. You have to push down a bit and get it on snug. My Dad tried and got it out instantly!
I watched a lot of videos on how to fix this, most involving glue, after seeing yours, I sorted through my pens until I found on that worked. It was a cheap company give away pen. Thanks for the idea.
Thank you for solving my earphone jack problem! I too tried the superglue strategy and it did not work. Luckily that did not cause extra damage. Your pen solution was so simple and worked within seconds!
I used a precision phillips head screwdriver that I got with an iphone screen replacement kit. Pushed the tip in the port while slowly twisting. Worked like a charm!
OMG! Have you been here in Guatemala? When you showed the pens at first, I thought, Oh! That looks like a Guatemalan pen, and then you said it, I was really surprised! I'm happy I found your video, I'll give it a try. Best wishes from Guate!
I pushed toothpicks into the stuck tip. After the third toothpick they were jammed in pretty tight, but I tapped them in a little tighter with a hammer. I grabbed the ends of the toothpicks and pulled. The jack tip slid out with no problem!
Yes this worked!! I tried a couple of pens but then decided to jam one pen in as hard as I could - then yanked it out and the jack came out!! Woohooo!!!
Omg it work I just did it I try it it woooooorrkk.thank you thank you for you video. My apple tablet was about to be ruined. But you save it .love it 😀
It really freaking works. I just tried it on my sons and it freaking works. Really gotta try different pens to get it to work. But keep trying and kinda turn the pen when over top The tip.
What worked for me was heating the tip of the plastic and then inserting it around around the jack tip, the plastic'll contract when it cools and it'll sit firmly on the end of the jack. And you'll be able to pull out the jack with no probkem at all
Just use an aluminium soft drink can like coke or 7up etc.,,,get a scissors cut up a 5cm(Length) 1cm(Width) sheet,,,then roll the sheet,,,can use a plier to roll sheet like cigarette paper then insert the rolled sheet to the phone jack then roll again until the sheet is tighten roound the broken pin then pull,,,try it couple times,,, it will work.
Thank u sir....well I didn't have to go to Guatemala...all I did was try different size pens. First one small piece came out then I tried another size to get the bigger piece out yes it came apart inside so if it doesn't come out in o e piece just try another pen fit it into the piece u took out to get the other piece out...no glue
I am having issues. I used an old school jack in my audio output and now the sound is permanently stuck on "Audio out" no way to fix it unless I bring it to Apple for repair. I don't have the cash. I am using a wireless speaker Which works for now. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

michaeljamesmartin Thanks! Yeh, nothing has worked so far. We've tried everything we've seen on here, and no luck. I've even tried looking down into the hole with the light from my iPhone, but I can't see anything in there to even see how big it is . And, I already threw the other part away. It would work if I plugged the headphones back in, but when I pulled them back out, no sound. I couldn't figure out what was going on. Then I noticed the tip was broken off. We're about to give up.
My jack is stuck, but if I press the other part of it in the socket on top of it, one of the headphones is actually still working. But nevertheless I need to get that thing out as soon as possible. :/
I am watching this without sound because my earphone jack broke in socket 😁😁😁😁😅😅😅😅
