- Volkswagen Virtus to get new 1.5-litre GT variant soon
Price
Volkswagen Virtus price ranges between Rs. 11.48 Lakh - Rs. 18.57 Lakh depending on the variant selected.
When was the Volkswagen Virtus launched?
The Volkswagen Virtus was launched in India on 9 March, 2022. The 2023 version was introduced on 22 March, 2023.
What variants does the Volkswagen Virtus get?
The Volkswagen Virtus is available in three variants - Comfortline, Highline, Topline, and GT Plus.
What are the features available in the Volkswagen Virtus?
Exterior:
The front of the Volkswagen Virtus gets a clean design with two horizontal chrome slats. These extend up to the LED headlamps, which also get integrated DRLs. Further down, the fog lamps get vertical housing, while the chrome insert on the bumper gives the Virtus an appealing look.
At the side are dual-tone alloy wheels. Notably, the top-spec GT trim gets gloss black alloy wheels and a ‘GT’ badge on the front fender. At the rear, the split tail lamps get a smoke effect, and the ’Virtus’ lettering is placed more prominently at the centre of the boot. The colour options of the sedan include Carbon Steel Grey, Wild Cherry Red, Candy White, Reflex Silver, Curcuma Yellow, and Rising Blue.
Interior:
The cabin of the Volkswagen Virtus is dominated by a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, an electric sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, and leather upholstery. The Virtus has the capacity to seat five occupants.
On the safety front, the Virtus is equipped with six airbags, multi-collision brakes, a reverse parking camera, and electronic stability control.
What are the engine, performance, and specifications of the Volkswagen Virtus?
The Volkswagen Virtus can be had in two BS6 Phase 2-compliant petrol engines - 1.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre petrol. The former has an output of 114bhp and 178Nm of torque and is coupled with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine is a more potent offering that generates 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. The motor is mated only to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while a manual gearbox is given a miss for this powertrain.
Is Volkswagen Virtus a safe car?
The Made-in-India Virtus has scored a five-star safety rating in the Latin NCAP crash test.
What are the rivals to Volkswagen Virtus?
It takes on the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Slavia, and Honda City.
VW recently unveiled their hot sedan Virtus and the booking for the same are now open officially. The launch will happen in the third week of May and the German carmaker is following the steps of their SUV, Taigun. Just like Taigun that if offered with a normal version and a GT Line, the VW Virtus too will be offered in the same. In this article, we discuss the key differences of the VW Virtus vs Virtus GT and share with you which one should be your pick. Let's have a look!
Design
VW will be bringing the Virtus in the Dynamic as well as the Performance Line. As per the names, the Dynamic Line is limited to the 1.0L TSI motor while the Performance is limited to the 1.5L TSI engine. Design-wise, the GT Line gets blacked-out treatment on the roof and alloy wheels. The headlights too receive black masking or smoked out treatment in what we call in a layman language.

To further enhance the appeal of the GT Line and differentiate it from the non-GT version, it gets a lip spoiler that looks amazing, GT Line badging on the front fenders and red brake callipers. Both the GT as well as the Non GT trims receive blacked out wrap around LED tail lamps that enhances the look of the sedan.
VW Virtus vs Virtus GT
Moving towards the inside, the GT Line gets red stitching on the seats, red inserts on the dashboard that kind of look a tad bit overdone. We believe that the colour coded inserts found on the dashboard will be similar to the exterior colour shade picked by the customer. At last, this GT Line gets aluminium pedals too. An all-black cabin will be the best once this version is launched in May.
Engine
The GT Line or the Performance Line is only equipped with the 1.5L, four-cylinder, turbocharged stratified injection motor. This engine produces 148 bhp of power on tap with a maximum torque of 250 Nm. A 6-speed manual transmission is observed as a standard fitment and a 7-speed DSG unit is offered as an option.
The Dynamic Line sources its power from a smaller, 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI motor. This uni develops 114 bhp of power with a peak torque of 178 Nm. Like the 1.5L TSI, this engine too gets a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, however, for the automatic, it is equipped with a 6-speed AT unit.
Since the GT variant is the top of the line trim, we believe that the prices too will be on the higher side of the scale - Авто/Мото
